322 Moody St, Waltham“been going to global for over twenty years and i do enjoy going there as it has become for me a destination as i live close by. things have very much changed since the new owner took over. some ways good...some ways not so good. prices on clothing have gone up. new manager has a nice hardgoods department with reasonable prices. most employees do not speak English. i like music for now too loud and distracting. and the rule that you have to leave your bags at the front near the entrance is very weird indeed. someone must have complained cause now there is a ridiculous drawing of the size of the bag you can brings in the store. this is quite bizarre. i know from being the store alot that people will steal no matter what size bag you can bring in. there are cameras everywhere but people still steal all the time. and its not the ones who bring in bags. ive seen people put a coat and walk right out of the store. ive seen people shove things in their pockets and walk out the store. ive seen people put on shoes and walk right out of the store. so what im saying here people are going to steal. they find a way. lately there are a lot of weird men who just hang out there. some of them are so weird that they fondle clothing and linens. sickos really. however with all the above i will still go to global because its what i do.”
“I have being a customer here for many years now and although they are very selective of the items I bring in,
I understand that they have an inventory they need to go by it!! Therefore, the store offers a great variety of kids clothes very gently used and brand new!”
“My favorite hometown thrift store. I love shopping here, the selection is so fun and the staff are kind and welcoming. Donations are easy to drop off; parking is tight and space inside is limited, but they do a nice job with filling the space they have with great finds. I love how their cause supports our canine friends. They also have a punch card system for savings over time; I’ve found everything is consistently and reasonably priced. Check them out!”
“Amazing place with a ton of heart, especially the staff. The Thrift Shop of Boston supports The Home for Little Wanderers, which provides a range of services for children in dire living/economic situations. Great cause and business to support :)”
“I'm a big thrifter and I try to visit thrift stores and consignment shops when I'm traveling. I stopped by while visiting Boston. I appreciated seeing this sign as I entered.
It's cash only, which isn't always convenient when traveling. I didn't really find much, but I may look again when in the area.”
“Growing Up is a wonderful shop with a great selection of gently used, pre-owned brands for kids. The owner is kind and always helpful. They buy directly from customers and they are very selective, which I love as a customer. When I'm clearing out my kids closets and sell to them, I try to bring brands and styles that are current, in season, and high quality. I often carry a credit so shopping there is extra affordable.”
“Absolutely amazing! Everything is pretty much $1. Came here with a friend when we’d just moved here from the UK, and picked up a brand new wardrobe. Staff are super lovely, tons of different things to buy from shoes to books, bags to tvs. Highly recommend, couldn’t improve what so ever. Open every other saturday 11-1pm and wednesdays 3-6pm, I make sure to go every week you never know what you’ll find! Tons of new stuff everytime, ive had designer brands and fully new labelled items.”
“Now this is what I call a thrift store! It has vintage items and you have to look for some great finds! The prices are affordable and the quantity/quality of clothes is abundant. They have trinkets as well along with a free table of stuff. The staff is also sweet and helpful. Get lost in the options!!!”
9AM - 3PM
402 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge“The salvation army in Central square in Cambridge on Massachusetts avenue health helped a lot of people throughout the long years that they have been there in that location. I have never stayed there overnight but I have occasionally had need of a shower which they were able to accommodate and a meal from time and time and a couple times during my laundry when I didn't have any money to do them,, don't let your pride get in the way of getting some help from a place like salvation army!! You need to call at 6:00 a.m. the same day to reserve a bed if they have any if you need a place to sleep for the night. If you're going to be staying there I recommend trying to get a bed as close as possible to staff as possible, do not have any loose belongings on you when you go there as they might get stolen, if we have something of value keep it under your shirt or coat or sweater and tie it to you securely before you go to sleep..”
“Recently the clothes they have are new and beautiful. Prices are awesomeGlad to see they have better options now. Staff ok not super friendly but doing there job.”
10AM - 5PM
334 Pleasant St, Belmont“Lots of super interesting things. The clothes do move very slowly but if you’re not going frequently it’s fine. The prices (at least for casual clothing and jewelry) are great.”
“I would like to thank the Food Pantry team for their good work, professionalism, wonderful attitude and attention!!❤️ I don’t know English, but they always help me with a smile, help me with my choice, and give me advice! I always leave in a good mood! THANKS A LOT !! TRUNK YOU!!!”
“Please be aware this is only accessible to people who have access to the Air Force Base. The hours are sporadic and the ones listed here on Google. Maps are not always accurate. Be sure to check their website. Their Facebook page is also not updated regularly so be prepared to be disappointed however, if you’re lucky enough to show up when they actually are opened, they have a great selection. It’s run by volunteers so you have to keep that in perspective.”
“Found some great things there alot of retro stuff and antiques with excellent customer service I couldn’t believe some of the stuff they have I know there’s a few things I want to get before someone else does”
“I love this location! I always walk out with some fun goodies and they have such a great collection of vintage ceramics/plates. The employees are nice considering all the craziness they have to put up with but Richard is my fave guy. Def take a look if you’re ever nearby!”
9AM - 6PM
892 River St, Hyde Park“very nice staff, great selection with an awesome men’s sweater section! everyone saying it was dirty or a bad thrift store was either in a bad mood or that was their first ever thrift store lol! thrift stores aren’t known for being squeaky clean!”
“Goodwill Industries International Inc., simply known as Goodwill, is an American nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that provides job training, employment placement services, and other community-based programs for people who face barriers in their employment.”
“I almost always find something here. The shelves are always stocked and I feel like there’s a lot of item turnover. I will say there are often broken or dirty items on the shelves, so you have to be in the mood to sort through to find your treasures. Sometimes it smells weird in the store.”
“Will be closed on mid July, not sure when will reopening. Got 1 jeans and 1 pants for $7! (both on 50%off sale) Definitely have some gems but need some time to dig into it.”

1230 VFW Pkwy, West Roxbury“Was very pleasantly surprised by how great this thrift store is especially for kids books and clothes. We went here yesterday to check it out and walked out with a ton of books and some clothes and toys for my toddler. The store is very well organized especially for a thrift shop and the prices are excellent.”
11AM - 8PM
238 Elm St, Somerville“The best buffalo exchange I’ve been to - great selection, unbeatable prices, and really kind staff. I heard they are getting troll reviews that are hurting their rating - it’s a shame because this was one of my best thrifting hauls in a minute!!”
11AM - 8PM
312 Harvard St, Brookline“LOVE this store. Always my go to for affordable clothes and they often take my items when I go to sell! Trinity <3 especially is a lovely person to chat with during the selling process and I can say the same about every employee I’ve ever worked with. Truly a gem of a place, thanks to everyone who makes this store a fun and joyful experience every single time I’m in.”
“I always find cute things in this store. The small collection is easy to browse and there is a fitting room. They primarily stock women’s items, with a small men’s collection; no children’s clothing. The store is staffed by volunteers, so they aren’t always open the hours that are posted which can be frustrating if you dove out of your way to visit (luckily I’m local). Be sure to check the math on your receipt since items are recorded and calculated by hand.”
