I used to love shopping at Steve’s ever since moving to Salem a little over a year ago. Even before living here in Salem I’d stop in and grab a few things!! Now I say DO NOT GO THERE! They must have new management and the young lady Arabian/pakistani maybe was completely rude and ignorant to me because I brought back two packs of chicken that were spoiled since I got them before closing Thursday. Mind you, she was right there when I bought it. I worked a double and didn’t have the time to bring it back Friday (yesterday) but I did also call and leave voicemails no call back and went right in the morning soon as they opened today. Rude ignorant and they’ve totally lost my business. The man (younger) told me his nostrils might be not good but all he smells is warm chicken, and that he’s going to go up and cook it right now. Ummm gross!! no it’s SPOILED and stunk up my whole house. Even another shopper smelt it just from me opening the bowl. Needless to say, I’m done with Steve’s and will no longer shop there.. I will miss my older people who work the deli because they’re always so nice and sweet.

Since the New Owners have taken over I believe Quality has left the building. Bad Frozen, Refrozen food is what's for dinner if you shop here today.Very poor Quality........ Need I say more. I don't think so. Shop at your own risk here.

Gone downhill :(Bought ice cream here recently that had obviously completely thawed then been refrozen. Totally freezer burnt too!Steer clear. They're gonna squeeze everything they can before they leave a massive hole in our souls

Used to be a greatplace to get prepared foods. Now they are under new management. Prices have gone up while quality has gone down.

Maybe small but you'll find whatever you need, the deli is amazing, their prefabbed food is outstanding, and they have a good meat and poultry selection❤️❤️

This place is going downhill quick. Went this morning and they had 2 pints of strawberries, both moldy. Cucumbers shriveled. Lettuce browning. Yuck. I purchased a pack of nectarines. Once home and opened I discovered they were bruised and partially rotting. Pricing is going up and Steve's is no longer the "quality" market it was. Total disappointment. I've been shopping here for 20 years. That ended today.

BEST small deli in the area! Steve's is known for great prices on fresh meat, raw and cooked. Also, they bake fresh bread EVERY day! Very nice customer service and a decent selection of groceries. Quite a fixture of the neighborhood, and Salem's favorite downtown market. It's my go-to place for lunch meats and naked goods. I would be truly heartbroken if Steve's ever left town.
