Update your website if you are not pet friendly then don’t advertise it on line ! What if an out of towner books on line and travels a long distance with their dog as an example? Guest goes to check in ooops we are not pet friendly my bad . Get it together Clipper Ship Inn and FYI you are neck and neck with Motel 6 . Ooops my bad Motel 6 happens to be a few notches above your ignorance. If you are desperate and want to go witch hunting in Salem make sure you are so obliterated black out drunk
before checking into this dump ??

Great place to rest your head within walking distance of Salem, affordable and clean
Nearby activities: Walking distance from all souls bar and bit bar, tons of shopping and restaurants, historic tours and more
Walkability: So Many places aren't too far walking distance from this motel
Food and drinks: Fountain Place has great breakfast and All Souls Bar and Bit Bar were awesome

So I I stayed her awhile ago. But it wasn’t a good experience the room didn’t have heat in October so I asked for more more blankets and the front decks told my NO! I was so upset I’m on my vacation I spent good money well I felt like good money to enjoy my time. To no heat in October with no blankets! So I went cvs and bought a heating pad to keep myself warm in bed. And I was so busy doing other stuff besides sleep. But I froze. But when we checked in is smelt of cats in the front office and food. You could see the chicken carcass. We were in one room originally but it smelt of cigarette but me or my companion r smokers so we asked for a none smoking room and we go the no heat room I guess ?? . I will never go back unless it’s owned or ran by different owns.

To be honest you should go elsewhere. Place is very old and smells like old books and rotten wood. They charged me a $100 deposit ( Wich was refunded after a week) and it was the only place out of almost 10 motels or inns that did this. All this topped by the fact it was the second most expensive ($130 plus tax) for just one night . Additionally,the owner looked at me like I was some kind of criminal hiding away from authorities ?. Never again.

Idk what the neg reviews are about. Awesome spacious room for an amazing price. I was expecting the "outdated rooms" to be outdated but this is far beyond my expectations. Paid minimal price for any hotel room nevermind salem in October.Highly recommend. Was expecting office staff to be unpleasant by the reviews. Zero issues there as well and encountered 3 diff staff members. One king bedroom was more like a suite with a fold out couch for my son. For less than 300 during peak days.. total bargain!

I rarely write reviews on Google but our experience at this place was so poor I felt I had to. My mother and I stayed at the Clipper Inn for the weekend in late October 2022. Our entire trip was nearly ruined by the awfulness of the Inn, particularly the manager.Firstly the beds and pillows were so stiff and old we didn't sleep well at all. The wifi was nearly nonexistent and the towels were scuzzy. However, by far the worst part of this place is the manager, who is likely the Susan woman who keeps getting mentioned. She was rude, disrespectful & callous to us from the moment we checked in and gave us a hard time for something as simple as asking for an extra blanket. When my mom went to check out, the manager, screamed at her for allegedly writing a negative review on Expedia (which we didn't do). My mother immediately left she was so upset, so I went to confront the manager. She again accused us of writing a bad review as if we were the only ones staying at the motel this weekend. I told her no, we don't leave bad reviews but I certainly would now. She then threatened to call the cops on us for trespassing. Please listen to the other negative reviews and don't stay here. Spend your $350 a night elsewhere.

I have never left a review regarding anywhere I have stayed, but I felt the need to warn others of this place. Let me start off by stating some of the few things I liked about the Clipper Inn, the cleaning staff was amazing, super nice and accommodating. The walk to all the shops, restaurants, tourist attractions, etc in Salem was just about a mile, so easy to walk to which was fantastic! Now, let me get to the negative aspects of the Clipper Inn. This place has not been renovated since the witch trials, but that is not even the worst part. The women at the front desk was extremely rude, not just on one occasion, but the whole weekend. Everything was an issue, and she wanted to charge us for every extra thing. I left a $100 deposit which I better get back as the room was cleaner than when I arrived. I had a third person stay in the room with us which was unplanned, the room was a suite, with two beds and pull-out couch. She charged us an extra $80 for the person to stay... I have never had that happen before. She asked multiple times all weekend if they stayed with me and I am sure they were watching us through the cameras, no joke it was that sketchy. My family and I were standing in the parking lot making plans for the day and she comes out and counts the people in our group and asking us questions, it was so uncomfortable. All to get the extra money from the third guest... For a "super busy hotel" she was awfully desperate for that $80. Once we started walking to town, she gets in her truck and starts going in the same direction we are walking. She slows down behind us and is driving behind us for a few before driving away, it was so bizarre. She also called my family member on Thursday afternoon and canceled their room for Saturday night due to overbooking. THE NIGHT BEFORE, we were traveling from NY, like what kind of system do you have that you don't notice overbooking until one night before? We booked this hotel in August there is no reason their room should have been canceled. They were going to stay in our room that night since they didn't have a room and she wanted to charge them an extra $50!!! Like are you kidding me? They made an error and wanted them to pay? They ended up having the room available after all. Overall, pay the extra money to stay somewhere else, you'll end up paying more here with all the extra fees anyway.

Lady at desk was very rude. Charged me late fee. Even came to my car and looked in while I was unpacking. Asking if I had other people in my room when I didn’t even go in yet. There was mice in my room and Wi-Fi didn’t work.

I can't say enough about Suzanne and how hard-working and hospitable she is. I love this place and I will be back again
