We don't even use CVS as our normal pharmacy, but we're on vacation and my husband needed an emergency refill of a prescription. The pharmacy staff here really went above and beyond, working with our normal (mail order only) pharmacy to get him a few days supply!

I waited over 30 mins on the phone only to be given attitude and no response to the status of my prescription... I was nothing but patient but the pharmacy this is unacceptable. The staff here are horrible, slow, rude and so unprofessional. I have to come here monthly for a recurring prescription and I absolutely loath it. My prescription is never ready. Once I had to come to this location 5 different times to just receive my prescription. Things are never ready or filled and the staff is so rude to everyone who enters those doors. Wish I could give zero stars. Do not recommend.

It's been a crazy, hectic day and I'm exhausted but it wouldn't be right not to take the time to write a quick review to recognize the outstanding and exceptional customer service I received today from Derek, the Pharmacy manager at CVS on Storey Ave in Newburyport, MA. There was a pretty big mixup today with my insurance that was not only going to be an inconvenience for me but also was going to be a huge source of anxiety for me as well with a new medication. I have picked up other prescriptions before, either for myself or family members when Derek has been working and he always is so pleasant and accommodating. I have noticed the way he interacts with customers because it is not ordinary-he is usually smiling and making a well-above average effort to fill prescriptions, answer patient questions and provide suggestions. That pharmacy location is always insanely busy-it is ridiculous, in fact....and I am there frequently and I have never seen him not hustling to get everyone taken care of and doing it with a smile. In this post-Covid, crazy world where most people don't even make eye contact any more he is a diamond in the rough. I am not sure why there are not more good reviews for this location, because I know for a fact that there are plenty of people (some who I know and others whom I don't but have been side by side with) at that store that receive the same great service I am describing. Hopefully more people will take time out of their day to give credit where it is due too! Thank you Derek!

Closed the grate at the pharmacy in my face at 5 pm, even though pharmacy is suppose to be open till 8 pm and I had been waiting in line. Forced me to go get in line at the drive up for an additional 10 mins, if I wanted my prescriptions. This is the 2nd time in the last several months when they refused service during posted hours.

CVS at 75 State Street, Newburyport is head and shoulders above any other CVS I have visited, especially 13 Pond Street, Newburyport. Derrick, a pharmacist goes out of his way that customer service is top notch and he certainly leads by example!! Will never go anywhere else as long as Derrick continues to run the show!!

Shout out to the pharmacy staff. They were friendly, compassionate, and very helpful when dealing with an elderly woman who mixed-up her medication. It was refreshing to see all of them work as a team while dealing with the busy drive-thru andmultiple customers in the lobby and on the phone. They deserve recognition for their outstanding work ethic.

Called at 7:40, waited on hold for 11 minutes. Called again from a different phone to see if I could talk to someone from the store and got redirected to the pharmacy again. I waited until 7:59 pm until they finally answered. I asked if it was the pharmacy and he said, "yes, but I'm closing in 10 seconds." I told him I was waiting for a cumulative 19 minutes, he responded he's sorry and then something about being 3 days behind. I get it, everyone is short staffed, but he was sarcastic and rude. I asked to speak to the store manager and he said he is the pharmacy manager, I said no the store manager, he said I'm the pharmacy manager again. I was mean and rude after that, but this was COMPLETELY unacceptable.

Open, spacious store with self-checkout and helpful front of store employees. Despite likely being overworked these days, the head pharmacist and other pharmacy staff have gone above and beyond to provide exceptional service on multiple occasions.

I had the misfortune of dealing with the pharmacist on duty April 14, 2023. I was there to pick up a prescription for myself and my wife. There was some confusion about my wifes prescription and that led me to a conversation named Joe. I want to preface this by saying that until this point over the last 2 or 3 years dealing with this pharmacy I have had zero problems. In fact Derick the pharmacy manager is awesome. He's always gone above and beyond for me. My encounter with Joe is as follows. I asked Joe about why my wifes prescription which was a 30 day prescription wouldn't be filled until 32 days from the last fill. He said he had nothing to do with it was the insurance company was the one who gave that information. He continued and said if the prescription was fillable that he would not fill it without Narcan. After informing him that my wife had been taking the same exact prescription for years and if she was going to OD she would have done it by now that seemed to trigger him because he reiterated the same thing and said my wife should seek out a pain clinic instead of the pills. I made the mistake of telling him I was on a similar controlled substance for pain in my hips and knees which have been DIAGNOSED BY A DOCTOR was referred pain except for the pain in my left hip which I told Joe that I needed a hip replacement DIAGNOSED BY AN ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON and was waiting to get my blood sugar under control. Joe then proceeded to tell me I didn't need a hip replacement and should just go to a pain clinic as well. This is inexcusable behavior by a pharmacist especially Joe who diagnosed me having not gone to medical school.

Showed up to get a family member nonprescription meds, and they were closed an hour early.

I haven't been in this branch that many times, but I will say that it is always SUPER busy in the pharmacy. That said, they seem to have good attitudes and take the time to help. I'd give it more stars, but I got a vaccine the other day, on a Thursday, and my arm was sore until Tuesday the following week. The vaccine giver just jammed it into the front of my shoulder. May be it's time to review vaccine delivery protocols with the staff. The store is a newer, larger CVS so it seems to have a good selection of product and it's near a lot of other stores.

Just wanna give a shout out to the guy behind the pharmacy tonight, he was the only one working and the drive thru was also closed so super long line. You gotta have a strong soul for that. Good job man!
