Small space and the machines and equipment are too old!

Old rusted machines, odorous matted rug floor, dirt on the foot peddles of every stairmaster, what smelled like paint drying in one corner, no classes, dirty cramped bathroom, bored staff, all for $75/month. Either improve the gym or drop the price to about 30.

Honestly mainly just giving stars for location, as it is the only gym within a mile of my house. Otherwise, this is probably the worst gym I've belonged to. The womens' locker room has ranged from having broken stalls to leaking ceilings. The gym itself is small and so doesn't have much equipment options. The towels are frequently stained/dirty. And the weekend hours are tough if you like to workout later. For $70/month I just feel that everything should be better quality.

I go here (mostly) everyday not only for my own health but for the sense of community. I feel comfortable at this gym and know most of the staff on a first name basis. I miss the sauna and sometime wish there were classes for social reasons but I am completely happy here and wouldn’t imagine going to another gym.

Very good location for residents of brookline. I wish owners would spend money to fix up broken bathroom stall, sauna hasn't worked in years. Many members slam weights to ground disturbing other members. Staff at desk could do more monitoring of these issues, instead they do their homework on theor laptops and are not involved in policing the gym.

The stretching room is great. I enjoy the open space, the staff is Boston-like, the free weights are good, and they have a new running or turf strip I enjoyed.

It's really cosy space and the best part definitely is the staff, they are super nice and respectful.

Good selection of weights/machines. Clean establishment. However, they always play MSNBC and CNN on the TVs which is lame. I’ve heard dudes complain about that in the locker room. Nobody’s trying to see that stuff in-between sets. Local news is fine.

I've been to this gym multiple times in 2010, and the equipment was new and there were not a lot of members there, so it did not feel cramped. Fast forward 13 years later. The locker room is dirty, the equipment has not been replaced since 2010. Also, there is a long wait for machines and other weightlifting equipment. The sauna has been broken for a long time. I will not return to this location.

I really enjoyed the Beacon Hill location, it was affordable and had all the necessities. Unfortunately, they kept charging me for months even after I cancelled my membership. 9 months of paying $69.00. They stopped the recurring charges after multiple complaints but have not paid me back. See images for proof.

I've had a great experience at the Beacon Hill Athletic Club in Brookline Village. The place is always clean, it's never too crowded to get on the equipment you need, and it's completely welcoming of people new to going to the gym. I've had a phenomenal experience with my trainer, Will Campbell – he is a great listener, he creates routines uniquely suited to where I am in my growth and aspirations, and he focuses on helping me achieve my goals. I couldn't be happier.

I've got a trick to get a lower rate.I signed up with my girlfriend, but she could only come to the gym on weekends, so we negotiated a special rate for her and attached her to my account. She did not pay, I paid, it was all under my name. The gym itself is fine. We cancelled our account when we moved away - except, they never cancelled my girlfriend's rate, and continued to charge me over $840. I emailed them asking for a refund and they said nothing. They did stop charging me though, which seems like an admission of guilt. So sign up with a friend, say you can only come on weekends, get a special rate, and have your friend cancel. Now you've got a lower rate! Gym staff didn't care that her badge was weekends only, so you can probably go in whenever you want.Needless to say this is a one-star review for scummy business practices
