The pillows were hard and uncomfortable. The restroom in the room did not have an exhaust. The hotel's location is great, near shopping and restaurants. The subway station is a 1 min walk.

I stayed here last night when travel delays meant I wouldn’t be able to get home to Providence. Booked it on Hotel Tonight, not sure if that gave me a lower rate but it was very reasonable. Even checking in at 2:30am, staff was friendly and helpful. It’s very convenient to Back Bay Amtrak. The check out time was noon and free breakfast (coffee & croissants) went until 11, so glad it was later than many hotels considering my late night. Being at the hotel also gives a discount at the attached restaurant which serves brunch. Room was basic but had good temperature control. Soaps smell good, but I wish hotels would switch to refillable bottles instead of travel size toiletries.I noticed they have DVD/VCR set-ups in the room & one of the reviews here mentioned they have movies available? If I were staying longer, I’d love to check out that collection, great idea for a hotel. This area is very good for shopping and restaurants. In my untrained opinion as a semi-local, I think you could have a good time with this as your home base for sightseeing around Boston.

Amazing hotel with great location. Staff is extremely friendly and very accommodating. Everyone behind the front desk was great, especially T***. She was really helpful and made sure I was always being taken care of. She made it my favorite hotel in Boston by far! I hope to be back soon.

Receptionist was outside while on the job yelling at a homeless woman for being on the public sidewalk in front of the hotel. It was the most ignorant, uneducated act I have seen. If this is the people they hire to work for them then I will be checking out and never returning. Truly

Be careful, they charge a fee of just over 40 dollars They never refunded this extra fee and they say it's with our bank, a bank that doesn't know anything about this fee. Be careful! for you Hotel staff...you can keep the $ to buy real double beds.... It could have been an incredible stay but upon returning home we realized it wasn't

Having traveled from Long Island, I took 2 rooms for two nights to see the Boston Pops during the holiday season. After the first night, a terrible snow storm was forecast. We hoped for it to veer East and go out to sea. It did not. We had to travel home after the first night. They refused to provide a refund for the unused room. We understood but asked for a credit. They said no. I advised them that if I used the credit, I would probably have to take a room for another night or two. Still they said no. We left anyway and have never returned to the hotel. Yes it was in 2008 and we were lucky to get home before the huge blizzard but we never forgot and wanted others to know.Noteworthy details: Should have offered us a credit considering the circumstances

Hôtel is ideally located, everything can be found around it.Peoples and service are great.Rooms are very small but it’s a part of the game.Cleaning is not done every day unless specifically requested. They offer a discount on nearby parking (5 minutes' walk, $30 instead of $40 for 24 hours).Breakfast includes one pastry per person and one filter coffee. A discount applies to drinks at the bar.the wifi from the room is terrible (we were room 407), but is fine when on the lobby.

No real breakfast, you get free coffee, but only one piece of pastry. Some staff was unfriendly, some of them very friendly.Hotel is very expensive, old style, but interesting. Location is good.

Very cute hotel. Perfect location, very good cafes and restos. Super clean and staff is fine. My only advice: don’t accept the rooms on the first floor. It’s in fact a basement (that should be told honestly), on the same level they wash towels and sheets so it’s smelly and noisy without proper windows. Plus side: they have a nice collection of free film in the basement.Rooms: Great furniture but avoid rooms on first floor.

We spent three nights at the Charlesmark and it was a wonderful stay. The coffee and pastries in the morning are a nice little perk but the location is excellent! Just a short walk to Boston Common and plenty of public transit. And the Boston Public Library is right across the street! The staff was very helpful and friendly. Food in the cafe was very tasty and healthy and reasonably priced with the additional discount for staying in the hotel. A fun and friendly experience!Walkability: We had no issues reaching any of the major landmarks or public transform. Great location!

Location was great. Central, lots of food options, and close to several T stations. Also very close to the Airport Express bus stop for the Back Bay. Staff were also very nice. As for value, we booked late and paid the price. That said, it definitely was not the most expensive hotel in the area, so no complaints. The room was small, but it's a boutique hotel which I generally translate to old funky building that's been modernized. The windows on the room mostly looked out on a brick wall, but at the right angle you could see some sky. We weren't spending a lot of time in the room so not an issue.

A bit loud outside at night, but it's a price for living at a great location.Amazing helpful people at the reception.Fresh coffee and pastries in the morning are complimentary. We enjoyed the view from the windows on the 6th floor! The location is great if you're using Logan Express from and to the Airport, the bus stop is less than 5 minutes by foot. And the BB Logan express is free from the airport.Would recommend and stay again!Landwer cafe is also great, and you get 20% discount. I wish we had more mornings in Boston to have their breakfast.

Stayed here 3 nights (2 rooms x 3 nights each). The rooms although small were comfortable. Cafe Landwer has a great breakfast. The complementary croissant/muffin was fantastic. We were happy with the hotel apart from one incident.Early morning around 6am we went out to grab some donuts from the Dunkin close by. The receptionist was not there at that time. When we came back to get some hot water -Receptionist: can I help youUs: good morning, just getting some teaReceptionist: are you staying here?Us: yesReceptionist: SHOW ME YOUR KEY (we felt this to be a bit loud and disrespectful)We showed her the room key.Receptionist: ok just checking. Now I fully understand why the receptionist asked for the key, but this could have been done in a polite respectful manner. After spending more than $350 per night it felt very weird.

Great location! While the room is small it is a perfect hotel for sightseeing Boston. It is walkable to almost everything. While there is no on-sight parking there is a lot for 30$/night and it's only a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The complimentary chocolate chip muffin and croissant in the morning were divine! The staff was great and there is fresh fruit in the lobby. I love when hotels give you a bottle of water in the room- this hotel had water in the mini fridge! There is array of DVDs and VCRs that you can choose from and watch in your room which is pretty cool. There is a Starbucks a 1 minute walk away. New berry street has a ton of restaurants options- you can't go wrong.
