I had a couple of knives sharpened here and they came back ruined. They fundamentally changed the shape of the blade and the work was done fast and sloppy.
Both knives had a ton of material removed and they refused to take responsibility.
Do not let them touch your knives.

50 years ago my father taught me about good cutlery and the proper usage and care quality knives require . A number of years age, The Kitchen Store on Newbury Street merged with Blackstones on Charles Street & knife guru Jim appeared.
I had previously driven far and wide to receive at best a mediocre sharpening.
Now I walk a few blocks and my knives receive a top quality renewal within a day or so which continues to surprise me with every use.
Well worth a trip to Charles Street and an excuse to explore the inventories of other merchants along the Street
I sincerely hope the current management of Blackstones does not choose to replace Jim in the future with a younger and less expensive employee.

I’ve bought pots and pans, 2 kitchens worth of knives from them, over 20 years. They have been the only ones to sharpen my knives. This time my bread knife came back without its serrations. No one said this might happen AND they took no responsibility.
WARNING: don’t have your knives sharpened here. I bought a new bread knife on line, and I’ll never set foot in that shop again. They lost a good and loyal customer.

Customer service was decent the first time we visited, but have been lacking ever since. Not only do we find them entitled and rude, but the selection of goods is overpriced, even considering the location of the shop. Most importantly, we got some of our everyday Wusthof knives sharpened there and they came back more dull/not sharp. Not sure why this is as I can see the blade looks different, which has me worried they ruined/thinned down my knife the wrong way (will be getting my knives sharpened at a professional place like william sonoma, where i originally got them, in the future instead).

Judgmental and rude staff. You will be judged from the moment you walk in the door. You could have a millions of dollars to spend, but if you don’t “look the part” then it won’t matter. Your greeting and the service provided to you will depend on how you look. I have tried to visit this store multiple times to give it a chance but each time I’m served with nasty looks directed my way, snarky comments, and just and overall unwelcoming feeling directed from staff. The items in the store are cute and can all be found else where, some are from larger companies and other smaller companies. I would much rather support those companies directly and likely receive a better service where my business feels welcomed and where my worth isn’t judged based on appearance. When I came online to look to see if others had the same experience, I was shocked to see none on Google. But at last I found others who had similar issues. Peep yelp for more reviews.

The owners of this shop are a lovely married couple that are extremely knowledgeable about their products. They have a great selection of knives and other household items. We've bought knives, dinnerware sets, and kitchen gadgets here, all of which were great quality. They've also got a good rewards program.

The staff are always ultra friendly, knife sharpening is a deal for the professional job they do, and a fun place to browse even if you aren't in the market for kitchen items.

A great selection of Boston themed and non-Boston themed kitchen gadgets. Fun, ideas but a little expensive.

Good selection of kitchenware akin to what you would find at Williams Sonoma but with the Boston markup. They have a very good selection of knives and allow you to test them. It would be nice to see more of a focus on supplying items that are not Chinese made

Stopped in here while walking through Beacon Street area - super cute items, but the owner was unfortunately incredibly rude to multiple customers. Would not return.

Oh my goodness- everyone at Blackstone’s is wonderful and they have such fun and beautiful things. I went in yesterday while pushing a stroller and they went out of their way to help me while I picked up a few gifts. Always love stopping in here!
