I sure hope Dr Margaret lives forever....or at least out lives any pets that I have. I'm a new client and haven't been so happy with a vet since the 1990s... also no fancy facility, nice not to pay for that...

Absolutely adore Dr. Margaret Hoffecker. She is down to earth, practical, caring, and affordable. My family has been bringing our pets to her for decades now, but since moving to the city, I’ve been taking my kitty babies to a vet closer to us. When my munchkin cat came back with high liver enzymes and high cholesterol, the first vet I went to wanted to do an ultrasound and a serum bile acid test, which she quoted me at $615 and $180 respectively, and that is just to get a diagnosis, not taking treatment into account at all, and on top of the $400 they charged us just for his vaccines and lab work. We called Margaret for a second opinion and she made sure we were seen the very next day. And while she agreed with the first vet’s assessment, she recommended starting him on a course of antibiotics and Denmarin to see if it might help and to give us some time to save the money we’ll need for his additional testing. She even clued me in about Care Credit, which I had never even heard of, and I was approved for $2500 to help pay for his care. I am so grateful to her and her team for the wonderful, kind, compassionate, thorough, and caring work they do. I can’t possibly thank you all enough! ❤️

My lab had tested positive for Lymes a year ago and the dr told me she doesn’t treat for Lymes if the dog doesn’t show any symptoms. A few months go by and he developed a rash and she said I’ve seen nothing like it before so she gave me some antibiotics and that got rid of the rash. A couple months later he had a swollen groin and she said the same thing as before that she’s seen nothing like it before. I switched vets and the new vet did blood work and a urine test and the dr confirmed that my lab had lyme nephritis which causes the kidneys to fail. The dr had gave me medication to try and get rid of the Lymes and get his kidneys to work properly again but unfortunately nothing worked. We just had to put my lab down. I feel like this could have been prevented if the dr at Shawsville had given my lab medication to get rid of the lymes before it got to the kidneys.

Shawsville is the best. I would not take my pets anywhere else.

When your pet has a severe allergy and the only medication is a prescription and your refills are all up and your dog is home chewing her paws off while you’re waiting for your prescription to be filled you get a call from Chewie stating that your refill pack expired or you have no more refill so you call the vet and they tell you unless you pay $200 for blood work we can’t refill your prescription so my dog gets to stay home and suffer I’m a single mom with two kids I pay $75 a month for prescription medicine I cannot afford an extra $200 right now for unnecessary bloodwork so now my only other option is to let my dog sit at home and chill or feet off
