photographer should’ve been more prepared for his last appointment. when we arrived he said his camera was going to die, appointment was rushed didn’t even give us 30 minutes. i expected at least a half hour or an hour session. didn’t give us an input or suggestions on how we could pose/look our best. disappointed with the photographer but at least the pictures came out well.

Having been going here for years, always a great experience. Expect your appointment to be later than the scheduled time, but that is mostly because they take their time and make sure everyone have pictures they love

Sophia at JC Penney in Wheaton was amazing! She made our photoshoot fun and relaxed. We ended up buying 30 digital prints and one hardcopy print for $98. 10/10 would return again. We got beautiful photos to celebrate my husband's birthday and our anniversary. During the Christmas season, all photoshoot studios are extremely busy. We had an appointment in Fair Oaks, VA that was rescheduled and Wheaton ended up being able to squeeze us in after waiting about 45 mins. I highly recommend making an appointment but also realize they have upwards of 58 appointments a day in the busy season. You might end up waiting regardless so plan for that, but it was worth it.

I had an appointment at 11:30 am, and arrived 10 minutes before the scheduled session. The photographer was late and therefore running behind on everything. After waiting for about two and half hours, finally got the photos taken. During the photo session, the photographer was semi clueless about directing poses, and I had to improvise to help. It kept getting worse, the photographer then had difficulty uploading the photos to the system, and I waited for another half hour for her to get tech support over the phone. Finally, I was able to pick the photos and place the order, but the photographer kept making mistakes about typing the redemption code and adding items in the cart. I told her I already have a membership, but she somehow added a new membership in to my order. I, as a customer, had to guide her through the process to finalize my order. In sum, a half hour session turned into a longer than three hours session, which was way beyond frustrating! The computer/system might have some problem, but I believe the photographer/staff was far from being competent.

We just had head shots done, and they were amazing. The manager took the photos and produced some of the best head shots I've seen for my wife, and she never ever gets good photos. The price was really good too. Give this place a shot.

I would not recommend this studio if you have young children. First, my appointment was scheduled for 11:30 am and I was not seen until 11:50 am. Any momma out there knows that 20 minutes is A LONG TIME to wait. I made this appointment because supposedly it is the first appointment of the day. But, to my surprise, there was someone ahead of me ? How did that happen ? Of course by the time we were ready, the baby was fussy. I was hoping the photographer would take the initiative to grab the baby's attention but her response was that she relied on the parents ? A professional and skilled photographer knows how to handle young kids. Eventually she pulled out a rubber ducky after attempted to get his attention but this was after I took the initiative. Photography is a true skill and I just do not think the photographer had the skills to really be in this position. Apart from the fact that she had zero customer service. In the end, the photos were not great. I did not purchase anything and she told me I could go to another studio or rebook online. I asked for her name and phone number and she ignored me. There were other customers waiting and she proceeded to assist them even though we were not finished. I do not know what is going on these days. Let's leave customer service to the side, what happened to respecting your elders ? Or apologizing to the customer when something has not gone right.I spoke with the store manager and he noted that he would relay this information to the district manager as the studio is NOT owned by JC Penney. Lifetouch Studios rent from JCP. So, I will cross my fingers to see if I get a response. I was also instructed to file a complaint online - so I will do this as well.It took a lot of time and energy to get my boys ready and dressed in their cute suites. Please do not waste your time. I highly doubt any of the portraits that they have on their walls were taken by the photographer I met with today.Whoever handles training, please train your employees:1. Customer service and 2. photography skills w/ kids. And JCP should really build a better partnership with Lifetouch because they are representing JCP and this does not look good for JCP. But - maybe they just do not care either.Too bad Rainbow Image closed - the owner was a true photographer. This is my first and last time dealing with "JCP" photography.I will pay more but I will look for another studio. I guess the old saying holds true: You pay for what you get. No more JCP groupons !!

Terrible service , my appointment was canceled Monday and nobody notified me, I went there with my family to find the studio closed. Then they rescheduled for Friday, when we hit there, the “manager” said their system was not working as they had no Internet, and was on the phone. She was super rude, she was a woman wearing glasses, at no point she apologized. Once again nobody notified me, my family and I were there wasting our time. That manager had no service skills with customers and just asked us to leave. She was the worst manager:customer service ever seen. She started arguing with customers and was not representing JC Penney.

Horrible customer service. Manager Cece is very unprofessional . My toddler and I arrived to our appointment and found the entire JCpenny closed due to some issue they were having. This is out of the photography dep’s control but they could have called us to cancel. When I called the next day Cece told me she spoke to me! She had not. I had paid to get makeup done and got a 3 yr old all dressed up for nothing. She didn’t even provide a compensation for our lost time and money , just lies that we had spoken. I’m appalled.

Horrible, lying, unprofessional staff. The negative reviews are true. Don't waste your time here.I called to rebook an appointment from the weekend, and was told that Monday was "wide open", although they did not have the graduation attire we wanted. I was able to purchase a jacket at JCP online and had to pick it up on the 4th floor before the session. As a result, we ended up arriving a few minutes after our scheduled appointment. We waited for a full 10 minutes for Cici (who claims to be the studio manager) to end a personal phone call on her cell, before she even acknowledged we were there. She refused to do the session, saying she had a family coming in for an appointment in 15 minutes. I begged her to do it anyway, as my son was dressed and ready, would not need a lot of fuss, and I had taken time off work. Cici rudely refused; indicating it was company policy not to accept late arrivals. There was NO ONE, not one single other person, in the studio. I asked for her manager's name, and she gave me the 800 number for Lifetouch, who said that each studio sets their own policy, so either she isn't the manager, or she could have made an exception to accommodate the ONE customer she had in the studio.20 minutes later, Cici walked out into the department store, having had no other appointment arrive. I was still on the phone with Lifetouch, who was trying to contact her. I told them she had left, which she apparently heard as she was walking by. She turned on her heels, walked back into the studio, and stood there until I ended my call, then left again. She is unprofessional, lacks integrity, and does not value customer service at all. The studio is deservedly losing business with such a terrible employee.

I very rarely write online reviews, but am compelled to after a very negative experience yesterday evening in the JC Penney in Wheaton Westfield Mall - Silver Spring Maryland. My husband and I had gone there with our son to purchase a suit. When he went to try on his merchandise, we noticed the dressing room was blocked off. Based on an earlier conversation with a mall employee, there has been a recent uptick in shoplifting and Im now guessing the blocked off rooms being “closed at 7pm” (although the mall closes at 8 or 8:30pm) is the result. While I can understand the need to address the theft issue there needs to be clear signage throughout the mall to this effect so customers know before hand, particularly customers who like us had rushed to the mall after work to make a purchase needed for the next day. When we expressed our concern regarding the inability to try on our merchandise we were told we could by who we believed to be a JCPenney manager in another department. When our son approached the dressing room, however, another employee engaged us very rudely with a raised voice telling us he couldn’t go in. When we shared that we were told we could try on our purchase quickly by another manager she continued to yell. When we asked to speak to her manager and gave her the name of the manager we spoke with she rudely pointed her finger and told us to talk to her manager ourselves, refusing to get her for us. She then went to find her manager (I followed) at which time she and her manager began yelling at me as the customer, flailing their arms in anger in a very dismissive manner. This was extremely unnecessary and frankly unacceptable customer service! Needless to say we left the merchandise and decided not to make the purchase, yet were followed like criminals from the store. This was beyond disappointing and highly upsetting for my family. Hopefully service will improve moving forward!!

First and foremost, the customer service at this studio is SUBPAR. Absolutely horrible. I booked a photo session for myself, my bf and our dog. Once I arrived the lady at the front desk informed me that I would have to come back at 4 pm even tho I had my appointment booked for 1 pm. The day before, they called to confirm my 1 pm appointment. It was 1:30 pm and photos were still not taken because I had a pet and they were busy with their previous appointment. she suggested I come back at 4 PM then proceeded to say that they were booked for the day.. make it make sense. Apparently I should’ve called them because I had a pet; however, they do not answer the phone whatsoever. So I had to go to two different studios before getting my photos taken because the workers were incompetent when sharing information. I do not recommend this place to anyone. 1 / 10

Service is terrible at this location. The employees are rude. They overbook and even with an appointment, you end up waiting over an hour. Will not come back here.

We came in for a newborn session with a Groupon. Our experience with the photographer was fine overall. No fault of his own, but during our session, our baby was a little cranky from just waking up and being hungry. So there were only some photos, in my opinion, worth selecting. We did purchase one extra photo outside of the Groupon. I couldn’t help but feel our order wasn’t large enough to the woman finalizing our transaction as she mentioned afterwards that the Groupon was supposed to only be “introductory”.. as in.. don’t use one again. I found that odd since the terms set by JCPenney on Groupon states up to 2 can be bought every 30 days. We planned on bringing our other two kids in for Christmas photos with a second Groupon… not anymore. We will move forward with an independent photographer. I don’t think paying full price for a package with JCPenney is worth it.
