Great Y, older building. The staff, the programs and the availability of two pools and pickleball beat any gym in the area hands down. Not only that but the TV access on the cardio machines actually works! Compare that to any other club at this price. The locker rooms are old and tired, otherwise I'd give it five stars.

Tennis courts are a mess, none are maintained and have been pointlessly thrown to Pickelball players. I’m afraid the people there say there’s no will to advance updating the courts.

It’s a YMCA, but aside from being older and the place being very spread out like a maze, what makes this place unique is it has a year round heated outdoor lap pool, which is awesome. There is also a big indoor pool. Big downside though is there’s no sauna and no towels. But 5 stars just for the outdoor heated lap pool because it’s dope.

I cancelled my membership here due to pricing increasing with no prior notification almost $30 more. The class schedule changed with no prior notification and some were completely removed from their program. Unfortunately, this location is a disorganized facility. It is very sad because I truly enjoy the evening classes and the instructors.

Showing improvement. Doorways widened. Some newer equipment. Had a great Director (Melvin). Front desk friendly and pleasant. Convenient hours, etc. Everyone has always been very nice to me.

Don’t join for the classes. They are frequently canceled at the last minute, with no substitutes, no explanation, no apology in a classic case of “the big print giveth, the small Print taketh away” the facilities are decent.

Yeah. The building is funky for sure. But the staff…awesome! Always a smile. They made the dark days of Covid bearable. And the outdoor pool, open year round is a blessing! Thanks SS YMCA!

I joined this Y for a few reasons; I was tired of the traditional Gym atmosphere, this Y is close to my home, both pools are open year round, and it has community-based. I enjoy the intergenerational aspect of it very much. The odd arrangement of the building can be a bit funky and it would he nice to have all the weight training equipment in one place but one gets used to it.The staff are wonderful.

Deceptive and unusual cancellation policy. I ended up paying for 2 more months than I wanted. They say they need 30 days notice - though it is apparently actually slightly more than 30 days. Also the billing cycle date I was given at the front desk was not the one the membership contact told me I have. They are more expensive than many private gyms. It's almost worth cancelling my credit card to get out of this. The biggest apparent advantage YMCA has over some local facilities is its classes, many of which are free with membership. But most are in the gym, whose acoustics are awful. I couldn't understand the instructors. The indoor pool is more crowded than some other local facilities. The lifeguards often leave the indoor pool door open in cold weather, so you may need a coat while waiting to use the pool. The shower floor in the male's swim locker room is filthy, to the point you may slip on the slime. If all you want is a gym, Planet Fitness is much cheaper, has longer hours, and their equipment is more adjustable to your size. Some county-run gyms are cheaper too. And there are better and less crowded pools. Two good points: Dave, an adult swim class instructor, is quite good. YMCA/Silver Spring (part of YMCADC.org) is part of "Nationwide Membership", which means you can use some other YMCA facilities; I've heard the Bethesda facility is better.

After when you think you 're at the end of something. you're at the beginning of something else. I risked my $1000 thinking it would not work, with no confidence I was so surprised when I checked my forex trading account and unbelievable I made a profit of $14,000. this is unbelievable I couldn't believe it myself and all glory to God for bringing MRS Kayla Williams to me. very diligent and straight forward in her work, I really appreciate her... First off, the staff at the Silver Spring YMCA is wonderful. They have nothing to do with my rating. But once you get past the staff you are left with an old, underfunded gym that should make the YMCA organization embarrassed and the local gym-going public angry. I recently went to the Bethesda YMCA and it was like a luxury gym experience. It's infuriating that the people in Silver Spring, who still pay a relatively high membership price, aren't deemed worth the same upgrades.
