“I went on a Wednesday around noon. I had zero wait. One patron had just left, and one came in after me. There is just one cashier. I only needed to mail a small package and I had no idea what first class postage would cost. The counter person was personable and asked perfunctory questions. I was in and out. Maybe because of COVID and a pending snowstorm, people had other places to be. I like the old brick building. There is ample ( more than necessary) unlike the new Silver Spring post office near me, which has no parking lot.”

“I have been living in the area for many years, and delivering parcels, and I find the entire office staff to be excellent people. They are always very friendly and serve with great kindness and education. 100% recommended service.”

“Seems to be open to the public now.The staff at this post office are the most helpful and kind individuals I have ever encountered! We mailed our wedding invites late today (10/12) and the man that picks up the mail waited for us. The woman that helped us behind the counter was equally as nice and helpful. If the post office does impact bonuses both of them are highly deserving of one for over the top service! Thank you!!!!”

“Like most Post Offices hours always too short for me. Service is as good as can be expected. People working inside are helpful when you need them to be.. They had knowledge of how things worked. I'm always in and outta there, because if you go anytime besides 1 minute before they close, it's usually quick and easy. Everything seems slower when you do it at the last minute. I find that they do their job appropriately...”

“I've been here a few times over the past year and every time, the staff have been incredibly helpful. I went to mail a passport renewal today and had messed something up, and the staff member working the counter was very patient and funny and helped me fix it. Would not recommend other post offices, but this one is great! Would go out of my way to mail from here.”

“The Longworth House Office Building Post Office is quite simply the best US Post Office I have encountered anywhere. The lines move quickly, the staff is friendly and they always have an abundance of stamps and mailing supplies. Mail is dispatched in the morning and after 4:00 p,m, in the afternoon. Staff will provide a special manual cancellation if you ask for it. The post office is located in the basement of the Longworth Building, but is open to the public. You will have to go through security upon entering the Capitol complex. It is easily reached by tunnel from the Cannon and Rayburn buildings.”

“Had a wonderful experience at this USPS! Both workers I interacted with were so kind and patient, and very helpful when I wasn’t sure the best way to proceed. Also got everything done fairly quickly, and the line moved fast (I went Saturday morning around 9:10am).”

“I have a small business and I visit this particular post office every day. I absolutely love the outstanding customer service that I have experienced with the many employees: Toni, Mrs. Fenny, Mrs. Claudette, and countless other employees. These hardworking people ensure that my packages get taken care of for my customers. Giving me the outstanding and impeccable customer service that I need for a smooth business operation for my delivery services.”

“By far one of the best USPS locations in DC wish this locations was my local USPS store since it’s couple blocks down the street…don’t know why north capital is my local USPS…..but for sure will be using this location for shipping anything moving forward……not only were they professional but they even walked me through each step of the way to send an International package as well…….highly recommended location and will be back for sure……and as soon as I paid and they scanned my package I got the status update right away on my USPS app……not like north capital which never updated my status tracking and lost my package even after paying full price for tracking an envelope……a freaking envelope I laid tracking for still is missing and still has not been scanned……please avoid north capital location for shipping anything out……”

“The mail service is mostly ok, but if I get more than one piece of mail in my box it's all crammed in... like folded..bent... crammed in the mailbox. There's no excuse for that!”

“I love this post office! It’s clean, fast, and the service from the staff is amazing. I previously went to the location at 14th and U and the service is terrible there. I walk twice as far to go to this location.”

“Conveniently located in the basement of Union Station, in between the downstairs food court and entrance to the Metro. They were open on a Saturday morning and I was able to drop off a small package.”

“This review is well overdue but I had to express how pleased I was with the service from Ms Joyce Newberne. She was fantastic, she was very helpful and informative and by far one of the kindest people I’ve met. She definitely made my experience the best it have ever been when going to the post office. Thank you so much, the world needs more of you.”

“Staff was extremely helpful here, especially in the passport office. I visited once for infant photos and application and the lady was patient with us and our grumpy baby. A week later I came back for photos for renewing my own passport and desire not begging to, the staff checked all my things and helped make sure it was marked and packaged correctly.”

“I just had a great experience! I dropped off my package and got a receipt without a hitch! This made me feel a lot better after a terrible experience at USPS on Buchanan street. Not only was I satisfied with my experience, but I saw about 10 other people in the same situation, and every single one of them seemed like they were having a great time. The staff interacted with each customer with a big smile, and the line was moving at a good pace. It was 15 minutes past closing time, so they might be in a bad mood, but all the staff members were really nice and helpful.I will definitely make this location my new go-to!”

“I showed up behind a long line 20 minutes before close thinking I might be out of luck. The woman working managed to get everyone sorted out, advised me on shipping options, and I was checked out with 10 minutes to spare.”

“Needed 3 passports for the kids. Printed out the forms ahead of time and showed up a little early for the appointment. Staff got us right in and was very helpful getting everything processed.”

“I've been coming to this Post Office frequently. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful. I've been trying to leave an experience rating on the Post Office web site but they don't recognize the zip code that's associated with this Post Office.”

“You're probably thinking four out of five star post office this has got to be great. No this is comparing post offices to post offices. If you're going into a post office you know you're going to get long lines and bored civil servants just trying to fill out their 20 years to get their pension. So the post office is pretty much a post office. The one star was taken off for the weird parking.”

“I like this post office. The lady who works there is very nice, I have never had any mail lost and there is seldom a long line. I also like the selection of greeting cards that they have for sale. I noticed several negative reviews and I felt that I had to add a positive one because my experience here has always been positive. I hope yours will be too. Thanks.”

“Needed to mail a letter, and while parking is limited, the staff here are excellent. Interior space is limited, but line moved fast. One major plus is that unlike the larger post office down the street, you can buy stamps here.”

2.7 Average21 Reviews

“Maybe it's because I know so many local folks and I never send packages, but I rarely come to the post office. To keep a reasonable flow of traffic, the parking lot is mostly one-way -- which can be confusing if you're on Hanover Parkway and miss the sign. But otherwise, I appreciate the flow. I think the only times I've been inside are when I've needed stamps, which I get once every few years -- I send a bulk of things for the holidays, and always get more stamps than I need. I needed regular stamps, since it felt odd sending holiday ones in the summer, so there was that. One time I stood in line it was a little long, and the other time it was totally empty. I always drop off my letters at the box outside.I do take jogs, so I've seen when it gets really busy. Avoid coming after work, around lunchtime or on weekend afternoons if you can... you will indeed be dealing with a lot of folks.”

“Postmaster Ms. Addison is always very helpful! The rude employee that use to work there quit which makes me happy! The new clerk was polite and knowledgeable with my passport!”

“This post office is small and I enjoy coming here. The staff are very friendly and very knowledgeable. They were able to assist me in choosing the appropriate product for my needs, which I can't say always happens. Specific kudos to clerk number 14.”

“The workers here are incredibly kind and helpful. Despite an overall rude customer base, the workers are purposeful and excellent in their reactions to screaming and rudeness. Workers: 12/10, incredible experience. 0, it seems this location is inappropriately understaffed to a point of detriment to the workers. They shouldn’t have to deal with constant harassment due to clear mismanagement. Customer base: -100/10, rude, inappropriate, and abusive toward workers. Do better.”
