If you want an honest mechanic that goes above and beyond. High Tech (HT) 1.0 and 2.0 are where it is at. They are my regular go to when I can’t do the work myself (usually cuz I don’t have time) and I want quality work completed. No matter the issue they know ways to resolve it and make it run again or make it road worthy. Sad they are selling their shop but glad there is HT 2.0 when this one closes one day. Until then, they do it all and you will be pleased with the work. Try them out and enjoy having less issues with your car.

Highly recommend Hi-Tech! I stopped in Auto Zone to get a new battery for my car. Auto Zone wasn't able to replace it, but they called Hi-Tech, and they said to come over. Hi-Tech was very good! They replaced my battery, made sure to save all my security settings, and even saved my radio stations!! They were fast and reasonable!!Thank you, Hi-Tech!!

I WOULD AVOID THIS SHOP if you are looking for an honest and trustworthy mechanic. In mid November 2022, after the Hi-Tech mechanic's original diagnosis I agreed to a $6500 repair job to replace a timing chain and sensor that he said was causing the check engine light to come on. After a month of endless excuses as to why it wasn't ready I found out that without my knowledge or authorization they had taken my car to the BMW dealer to fix the damage caused by their "repairs"- and Hi Tech paid BMW $5,467 for those repairs- and then tried to repeatedly hide this fact from me. The attached texts are pretty clear and tell the whole story about how untrustworthy this business was in handling this situation. After having had my car for a few weeks and the mechanic repeatedly telling me how short staffed they were- he claimed the job was done but the vehicle was running rough. Said that after diagnosis they needed to tear down the engine and start the 30 hour repair over because BMW had sent a faulty part and because of this BMW would be paying them $70hr for the labor to redo the job. Sound believable?Another 2 weeks goes by and I'm told that the repair is completed and the car is "running great" but that the car was going into limp mode and that a "computer update" was needed and that they didn't have the equipment to do it but I'd be put on a waiting list for a mobile service. The car had never gone into limp mode previously. The mechanic stated that he had never done a timing chain on my model and had even ordered special tools from Amazon. I should have been concerned then.I then find out from Hi Tech that they had taken my vehicle to Passport BMW for the "computer update" they said it needed- and paid $5,467 ($1865.46 in new parts alone)- not for a "computer update" but to fix damage caused by them not properly completing the original repairs. Why would a shop do this and then try to conceal it? A bent screw on the timing chain cover. Five different engine leaks. And I'm told by the mechanic from BMW that the car will continue to go into limp mode unless additional repairs are completed. Now Hi Tech says those conditions were preexisting. I have attached copies of the receipts of all of the work by BMW that the Hi-Tech mechanic tried to conceal. These additional repairs and parts were never disclosed to me when I went to pick up my vehicle which is also a violation of MD Consumer Protection laws. When I went to pick my car up the Hi Tech mechanic didn't know that I was aware of or had copies of the BMW work that they had paid for and continued to mislead me about what was done to my car. When I questioned the him as to what happened with my car and the additional repairs and why he wasn't being honest with me he cursed me out in front of his Mother -(called me a mother f'er!!!) so I left the business without my car vowing to leave negative reviews every place that I could. He even had the nerve to tell me that I was "in a better place" with all of the new parts. I've also had 2 neighbors tell me about their negative experiences with this shop and the owner's failure to properly take responsibility for issues leading them to stay far away as well. Now I get a letter that says they've added $2000 additional for storage and Hi Tech plans to sell my car at auction in 2 days when its still not fixed and they've failed to acknowledge the dealer repairs at BMW. I had been a loyal customer of Hi Tech for years and had even left a positive Google review in the past. I'll leave a review on their Huntingtown location as well since their Facebook page now says they will be selling the Owings shop and their employees and same owners (Thomas Cable family) have moved to the Huntingtown location. The truth and an apology would have gone a long way toward an equitable solution but instead this review will have to do to warn others about how dishonest this shop can be.

I want to send a shout out to Hi-Tech Automotive in Owings. I pulled into their business just before closing with a damsel in distress story. They helped me out and had me on my way in no time. The owner refused to charge me. So I'll find another way to bless them as they blessed me!! Check them out for your automotive needsService: Auto maintenance

I have had Hi-Tech service my MB and Infiniti for years. They have consistently been honest and professional with me. I thought I needed new brakes on all 4 tires. They ordered them and called me to tell me they were in. Upon further inspection, only the rear tires needed brakes. They serviced an auxiliary battery and found the same part on Amazon saving me about $100 dollars. They found a nail in my tire that I did not know I had, and fixed it. The staff at Hi Tech is the best. Wish I could give 6 stars..... ******Services: Battery

Dropped my truck off for a transmission issue. The head mechanic was great to work with. Very upfront and honest. After I found out my warranty wasn't covered here, they handed me the keys with no charge for diagnostic fees.Great to work with and I'll definitely be back in the future.

NOTE: There are 2 locations - the one in Huntingtown is the location I'm speaking of: HiTech2.0 in Huntingtown is TRASH!! The day before, I made an appt for an 11 am oil change and told them my make and model (so they could prep for my visit). I arrived at about 11:01 am (one of the owners/the father, wanted to tell me that I wasn't there at 11), I let their panting, hot, black dog who was unleashed and sitting in front of their doorway inside and followed him into a cigarette-smokey customer service/waiting area, gave them my information and key and stepped outside to wait because I guess the Clean Air Act of 2007 doesn't apply to these people. At noon, the owner/daughter comes outside to apologize that the "stupid" parts place sent the wrong part (I was reminded multiple times that it's not their fault). So I had to wait until they brought the right part. She goes back in, lit up another cigarette, and I when looked in the window I noticed that she was also doing a girl's (probably another family member's) nails. Then about 30 minutes later, the mechanic/son comes out saying he's going to hop on his bike and run up to go get the part because the parts place is taking longer than they should. So of course, because I'm a hostage over here and it was 90 degrees and I couldn't sit inside because of the cigarette smoking and nails being done inside, I have no choice but to continue to wait, clearly, the disappointment was on my face. He saw this and then he turned off his bike and said, "forget it then, I was doing you a favor!" Then passive-aggressively went back inside. So of course, I braved the smoke-fest inside and questioned him, his comments, and his passive-aggressive position. He argued with me and said I "threw my hands up in the air and spit," which is 1000% not true. He said, aggressively as if I even did anything wrong, "we are going to do your oil change for free, and don't come back here!" (don't tell me a 2nd time, sir) The owner/daughter/sister was defending him and kept saying, "it's not our fault!" (But ma'am, it's not mine either...my only fault was attempting to give small business!") Then the owner/father came out to confront me, telling me that I was "one of THOSE" people who think the customer is always right and to tell me my oil change would be free and don't come back. He said that I ruined his and his mechanic's Friday and probably their whole 3-day weekend. And that they are not a drive-through oil change mechanic. And I told him that he shouldn't have accepted my business when I called and spoke to him to get an appointment. It's called say no, and apologize that you can't take my business right now. I insisted that I would pay because I wanted nothing from this family business but to have my oil changed. I am a first-time and last-time customer. They came with a recommendation and since I was looking for a new mechanic, I thought I'd try them. Because I insisted, the owner/father said, "fine, charge her half!" The owner/daughter said, "that'll be $39!" Well, you take your $80 oil change and shove it ... hopefully, it will lube yourself right into an unemployment line!! Either that or therapy to treat your passive-aggressive selves. Keep it up Family Business b/c with customer service like that, you'll not be in business for longer than 26 years
