Always hot, smells like sweat, but not as busy as the Onelife in Olney

Difficult to cancel your membership. You call and they make you send an email. They ignore email and keep charging. You go in and they don't help at front desk. Ultimately had to take action with my credit card company. First cancel email sent over six months ago.EDIT: please provide me with the email address?

The first interaction is always really important. Shout out to Jodey at the Olney golds gym for the cordial customer service.

I don't understand why this place isn't packed like the other gyms in the area. I used to belong to Onelife in Olney, but ended my membership due to overcrowding. If I went to Onelife any time after 2pm, there was a wait for just about every piece of equipment. I took some time off and just recently joined Gold's Gym in Olney. This gym is by far the best bang for your buck in the area. It's not crowded at all, the staff is super friendly and helpful and they have everything you need. The best part of this gym by far is the "Goldsfit" class. This class is the perfect combination of conditioning and strength training. The coaches are awesome and everyone in the class is super fun. If you're on the fence about which gym to join in Olney, Gold's should be at the top of your list.

I had a membership at the Layhill Shopping Center Golds Gym, and they sent me a letter saying it's going to close in one week. The alternative location is way too far. But they want to charge me $114 cancellation fee even though it's their fault I'll probably wait it out for another six months or so until the early cancellation fee drops which I really shouldn't have to pay because it's not my fault. Been dealing with Golds Gym since 2002 and never had it, an uncomplicated experience. everything with them is completely one-sided. Zero consideration for the customer.

The gold's gym crew were always kind to me and willing to help me! I did work with two different trainers, and both were absolutely great. They worked with me to clear charges after i had stopped training sessions for financial reasons. However, last month I had emailed someone on the 20th to cancel my membership entirely since I was being charged $36 each month. I was charged $16.00 for maintenance fees at the end of the month and another $36.00 today. Apparently, it was $36 because my card declined. This is extremely frustrating and disappointing. the gentleman i spoke to offered to talk with his supervisor but I declined. I've been in a situation similar to this and it doesn't do much. I don't think i'll be coming back but I do hope others continue to go, and enjoy the great employees.

Do not sign up here. This gym is full of thieves. The staff is terrible. They do not know what they are doing. They are all misinformed. Dealing with the Manager at this location is even more mediocre. I cancelled my account and hope I don’t continue to get billed. Sign up somewhere else, these people don’t care about you at all!

It’s a good gym. When the Golds on Layhill closed abruptly after I had been going there for 4 months they automatically transferred my membership to Olney. I soon realized the Olney Golds was way to far out of my way. The Golds on Layhill was an actual community. We all loved it. When the owners abruptly closed it that really upset me. Then transferring me to Olney which is much to far out of my way compounded how upset I was at the Golds owner’s lack of concern for customer service. Eventually I just reluctantly found a gym that was not so far away. That is, unfortunately Planet Fitness. I don’t like it so much but the Golds owners left me no choice and the brand new Planet Fitness in Rockville is pretty nice even though it’s not the community we had in the Golds on Layhill.

It's usually a lot emptier than it used to be. This place was always packed when it was Fitness First. Now you can be sure to have little to no wait for what equipment remains.I can only assume that One life over in the old Giant building took away a lot of the customers, but the Olney Gold's has in recent years had a bad pattern of suddenly and randomly getting rid of various machines without adequate replacements and no advance notice. None of the other nearby Gold's locations are like that, as they still have equipment that Olney got rid of for no good reason. The other Gold's locations are busy in a way that Olney hasn't been in quite a while. I hope whoever in the company is responsible for member retention reads this and gets the gone equipment bought back.

Only good Gold’s left in the area. If this one actually closes, I’m switching gyms. Good selection of equipment, relatively clean, great layout, friendly staff, not too packed. Sad they lost a lot of members to competitors.

If I could give a star less than one, I would. This gym let's off like it is a family friendly community gym. When there is a problem, there is no follow up or follow through to help customers resolve issues. Anne is horrific to speak with on the telephone. When I asked for her manager's contact information, she said no, "I am not disclosing this information". Avoid the anger and frustration, join a different gym in the Olney area.

Recently put a 'hold' on my membership. Five days later my bank account was charged my usual membership fee and one day after that another second was charged. Have left two messages for the gym's manager, and have not received a call back. If I don't hear back soon, my next call will be to the Office of Cosumer Protection at the State Attorney General's office.

Nice comfy gym. Not crazy overcrowded like that other place. I don't have to wait for equipment I want. I wave and say hi a lot because I recognize so many people. I go, workout, chat a little, and leave happy.
