Beware! Not a trustworthy Hyundai service department!
I’m sad to say that my experience with Fitzgerald Hyundai Service Gaithersburg was disappointing. I have two relatively new Hyundai vehicles and have been taking them in for maintenance, oil changes, etc.… So, to be clear, I've spent a lot of money at this dealership. During my service last week, I was very surprised by what I experienced. I dropped the car off for an oil change, tire rotation, and a safety recall. It was easy to set the appointment, and drop-off was not an issue. A couple of hours later, the service writer called me to inform me that the technician reported that the engine and cabin air filters needed to be replaced. And he wanted to know if I was okay with them being replaced. I was SHOCKED! I replaced both filters recently. I explained that to the service writer. He had no explanation. I requested that he not have them replaced and only to complete the originally requested services.
When I arrived later to pick up the car, he avoided me, and another service writer reviewed my service ticket without mentioning the incident. I then asked to speak with the service manager. I explained to her what had happened. I said I was not looking for anything and wanted them to know that my trust in their service department was damaged. She failed to show any real concern about the fraud committed by her team attempting to charge me to replace parts that did not need replacing. She even had the nerve to ask me if they were OEM parts! Of course, they were, I stated. She then said they had cameras to see if the service technician had really checked the filters. Like she was going to check the cameras, I told her I didn’t care what the cameras showed because I knew they were brand-new filters! I could see that my case was going nowhere, and in my opinion, she failed at her job, too. All I can say is beware of this service department, as my experience in the honesty department was less than stellar.

The service is friendly but they try to get out of doing general maintenance and repairs when car is under warranty and refused to provide service report when requested. They have written my oil changes were good for 8000 miles, 3000 and recently 1500...no idea why. I would only go of obligated to use dealership but overall do not find them trustworthy.

I've been a long-time customer here and the service has always been pleasant, fast, and above bar. The team is very knowledgeable, accommodating, and has been quick to get my vehicle back to me - usually on the same day if possible. They offer ride shares and rental cars if they anticipate taking longer to fix your vehicle, which is a very nice touch compared to other places. Recently, they underwent changes in staffing, but the Service Manager (Diana) has been personally available and understanding with all the transition and has reassured me as a customer that the service remains top notch. After hearing about an annoying, reoccurring issue I was having, Diana went above and beyond and worked on the issue herself to ensure I was satisfied - thanks, Diana! I appreciate her and the team for taking care of me and my vehicle. After quite a few years, I'm happy to remain a satisfied customer of Fitzgerald Gaithersburg!

Rashaad is a thief. Rashaad has stolen the money from the 4 tires he and I agreed he would sell for me. I had the 4 tires removed off of my brand new 2023 Kona N series back in January at the dealership. Rashaad kept my tires instead of me paying a disposal fee and we were to split the sale price. He's a thief so I am karma. It's bad business to do side deals at work and be a thief. Karma is universal.

I had the greatest experience this evening. Customer service over the phone at establishments are so unpleasant these days. I was shocked and completely satisfied with the service I recieved by Mr. Troy Jackson at Hyundai service Fitzgerald(on the phone). My schedule is very tight due to my 2 children and he was able to manuever around my schedule even offering transportion for my children and I. He made something that was difficult for me smooth and easy going. Now I'm able to get my things done during the week and service my vehicle. Thank you Mr. Jackson! We need people like you around the world!

Went in for an oil change, great experience! Chris in service was great and then test drove a Subaru. Darin in sales was professional and knowledgeable. I will come back for service and when it’s time for a new vehicle!

A couple of weeks ago, I made an appointment online to get some recall work done (replace my trunk latch). I arrived a few minutes early and was checked in and shown to the waiting area. They let me sit in their waiting room for 90 minutes before telling me they didn't have the correct part to perform the work. I got a shoulder shrug and a "sorry" from the tech who said I could just come back next week and they'll probably have the part then. I can't imagine a scenario where I'll actually return to this place. Even by modern standards, this place is extremely disrespectful of your time.

Hyundai Fitzgerald of Gaithersburg Service Center might just be the actual gateway to the underworld.

$290 just for the labor of oil/filter/fluid change at this place.
$290 JUST for the labor of oil/filter/fluid change.
An engineer with a PhD and 30 years of experience does not even charge $290 for one hour of his/her time.

For months, Hyundai Corporate and their dealerships have been unresponsive to consumers with hazardous RECALLS.
1) No remedy has been afforded owners.
Due to unresolved flammable ABS Brake Leakage, vehicles should not be garaged.
2) Also, unresolved engine block recall indicating potential for surprise engine failure gives consumers extended warranty ONLY to 100k.
Bottom line, recalls indicate vehicles are essentially TOTALLED.
Lives AND property remain in jeopardy after Hyundai has received significant investment of buyer financial resources and trust that vehicle design would provide safe conveyence between destinations, at least from endogenous threats to life and limb.
Loaners until vehicle repairs are fulfilled or vehicle replacement would make owners whole and maintain brand loyalty.

Instead of giving me a realistic timeframe up front I was given the run around and lied to for three days. I scheduled a service appointment for a full diagnostic two weeks in advance and at drop off I was told someone from the body shop could also give me a quote for any cosmetic damage. When I called to check on the status of my vehicle I was told it was getting looked at within the hour only to call back the next day and be told it hadn’t been looked at yet. This went on for three days. Day three I call again to see when my car is ready for pick up and I’m told it’s still in the body shop getting looked at, meanwhile an associate from the body shop emailed me hours ago that they were finished with the car. Two days in a row my sales associate just *forgot* to schedule me an Uber ride from my work to home so I ended up alone after hours outside of my workplace in an unsafe part of Montgomery village. It’s completely unacceptable to treat any customer this way but as a woman I felt I was put at risk while literally paying Hyundai Fitzgerald for their service. This did not feel like a mistake or oversight as both days I called twice within the hour to confirm my ride home. Every time I contacted my sales associate I felt like I was annoying or inconveniencing them. The frustration on both sides could have been totally avoided if they just provided an honest timeframe from the start. In the end it took Fitzgerald Hyundai three days for a diagnostic and a $2,800 repair quote including the cost of my diagnostic. Took a mechanic in Germantown one day to actually fix the problem $860 including body work. Save your time and your money and just go somewhere else.

Another 5 Star experience. Leased a Forester. Brian Washington and Brian Sainz were both great! Shopped the Toyota models before settling on the Subaru. Govinda Ban and David were also outstanding. Everyone was so cordial and helpful. Terrific company. And I like that they are 100% Employee Owned!

Major Letdown - One Star Rating for Hyundai GaithersburgMy recent experience with Hyundai Gaithersburg has left me utterly disillusioned and questioning the integrity of their business practices. I purchased a Hyundai Sonata with the promise of complimentary basic maintenance up to 36,000 miles or 3 years—a commitment that has been blatantly ignored.During my recent visit to the service center, I was informed that my last complimentary service had been exhausted, leaving me bewildered as it's been just a year and my car has a mere 19,000 miles. This breach of our contractual agreement is not only inconvenient but showcases a lack of commitment to customer satisfaction. What's more, my confidence in Hyundai's purported 100,000-mile warranty has been shattered. If they can't uphold a basic maintenance commitment, how can I trust them with more significant promises? It's disheartening to realize that the information provided during the sales process was misleading, and the dealership seems more interested in cutting corners than building trust. As a next step, I want to make it known that I am actively seeking legal action to address this breach of contract. I will provide updates on the progress of this matter. Potential customers, beware. Hyundai Gaithersburg's actions have cost them not only my trust but also any future business. It's disappointing to see a company prioritize short-term gains over long-term customer relationships.
