Such a great Crossfit box! The people here are so awesome and supportive. Very welcoming atmosphere for newcomers (or anyone really!). No pressure to be the best of the best, but you get enough encourage to want to be! I found this box researching boxes in my area. I was immediately welcomed my first visit, and was signing a membership my second visit. I have been here for about 6 months now and already see such great results!

I have called Hardshells home for well over a year, but I'll rewind to my initial experience here. I came to this gym with zero CrossFit experience. I worked out all the time, but never did CrossFit. I originally did a 4 week on-ramp class with Angel, the head coach and I can say, unequivocally that I questioned all life decisions during these workouts. They seemed impossible to me at the time, but I kept coming back. Maybe it was Angel's encouragement or genuine concern for my fitness journey. The workouts can always be modified to your current level and there's always a coach giving you feedback. Fast forward over a year later and I'm there all the time. I love the people and the environment. I love the encouragement and the team atmosphere. This is definitely my fit family and I'm happy to call this place MY gym. The gym itself is located close to Shady Grove Carmax. It's in an industrial area and is a typical CrossFit gym. There is a shower in the back to use if you're popping in and have to head somewhere right after. There's a vending machine and some lockers available, although everything is pretty safe in the gym. Classes run Monday-Friday and 1 class on Saturday. One thing I loved and still love about Hardshells is that there are people from all different skill levels. There are people like me and ones that run laps around me. If you're questioning if CrossFit is right for you...stop by. You have nothing to lose!

Big fan...huge (in the Julia Roberts voice from pretty woman)! I started at this box about 7 months ago without any prior CrossFit experience. One thing that stuck me quickly was that all shapes, sizes, and fitness levels are welcome. The environment is one of encouragement and positivity that permiates everything and everyone here. The members are very friendly. The coaches are encouraging and help you before, during and after your workouts. I leave here after every visit feeling fulfilled both mentally and physically. I highly recommend that you come take a look. I've fallen in love with CrossFit because of Hardshells and the community that has opened their arms and welcomed me in!

CrossFit Hardshells was the perfect place to workout for the short time I was in Maryland. I was there for 5 weeks and felt welcome on Day 1. Very friendly, Very clean, Very nice equipment. The training is smart and not reckless. The programming is designed to challenge ppl of all levels. It has everything you need!

Exhausted after 12pm Friday workout w Angel = alot of good hard composite stuff for legs butt back core upper body at the end. I cheated (modified) alot to make my totals, but it made me want to come back and get better. Angel is not in your face to be encouraging. There is equipment I've never seen and/or used before and I've been to MANY gyms.

A welcoming and dedicated community along with thoughtful and developed programming make this gym a place you will never want to leave. You can be sure to receive answers for any question about why a work out is the way it is (be it the structure of one work out or sequencing of the work outs), to receive help regarding a specific movement, or to modify the work out due to limitation or injury. You and your body will be cared for at this gym!

I had reservations about trying Crossfit because I thought it would be too advanced and intimidating. I took a chance and participated in the 4 week introductory course at Hardshells. It was one of my best decisions ever! I found a great gym, an encouraging community, and a workout regimine that challenges me and keeps inspiring me to do my best and push harder to get even better.

Hardshells has the perfect environment to grow in. From the beginner who never done anything to the athletes. The support and staff of Hardshells is amazing. You can get massages, box food drop offs, mobility therapy, Athlete WODs and more. Facilities are super clean and very flexible. I come in at 5am and gym is open to lift! There are so many great coaches. Ladies and Men all Badass! Mr Cabrera who is the director is running a smooth oil machine. Enjoy!

Just completed my first week (MWF) at Crossfit Hardshells and I am EXHAUSTED both mentally & physically. And ... I LOVE IT!!! The facility is great, the members are AWESOME, and the coaches are extremely knowledgeable. In just my first few workouts, my squat feels stronger ("pull your bellybutton into your spine"), and I have a better understanding of how to improve my grip strength. I wanted a program that challenged me mentally, emotionally, and physically because I had lost myself after regaining 60 of the 90 lbs I had previously shredded. Crossfit Hardshells provides me with that opportunity, and I'm so grateful. I'm looking forward to seeing how far I could push myself. Thanks Crossfit Hardshells!!
