Jason and Chloe were nice hosts. The room was plenty large, clean and comfortable. We stayed in the Frost room which had a private balcony. Jason runs shuttle services for the bike trail (GAP and C&O Tow Path), which we were grateful for not having to bike round trip. There was also a locked shed to keep our bikes in out of the weather . Only one negative, I didn't realize breakfast would be vegan and would have liked to have known up front as I'm not a fan of meat substitutes. Yogurt parfait was delicious.
Noteworthy details: Very convenient for the bike trails. Easy walk to "downtown" Frostburg.

AN ABSOLUTE GEM IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT.
This historical home is such a beauty! It’s decorated very nicely (lots of bike themed things since they cater to bikers coming off the GAP) and the whole place is so quaint. There are common areas to hang out that have plenty of comfy seating, along with games and books for guests to use. We had fun playing chess! Everything was super clean. My sister said her bed was the most comfortable bed she’s ever slept in, though bed preference will always be subjective. The breakfasts they offer are delicious. The owners were super friendly and welcoming. There’s also a hot tub available! Don’t be like me and not come prepared with a swimsuit.
The last person to leave a review (Danette Morris) is probably clinically insane and sounds like she doesn’t know how bed and breakfasts work. We didn’t feel like we were imposing at all, only welcomed, and in fact didn’t really see our hosts much at all during our stay since they live in a separate area of the house. (Jason was easily reachable by phone though if we needed anything at all.)
We will be back for sure!
Noteworthy details: There’s a (very cute) dog who lives here and sometimes comes to say hi! The dining room has a small fridge and microwave and utensils available for guests.

Just okay. We stayed here based on all the great reviews but really can't figure out why everyone liked it so much. The room was just okay. As we were the only guests for the night, it was quiet but I can see it being less so when fully occupied as this is an old house with the expected creaks and groans and close quarters. The bathroom was tiny, as in all the fixtures were really small, the bed was not all that comfortable and the bedspread had several oily-looking stains on it. Breakfast was okay, but certainly not a reason to stay here (bring your own dairy if you like cream in your coffee). Also we are not dog people and the innkeeper's dog was underfoot as we moved luggage in and out and at the dining table and in the common areas. For those with accessibility issues, there are steep narrow steps to get to your room. Lastly, we felt as if we were imposing, just an all-around odd experience.

This was a fabulous stop. The owner is quite friendly and extremely helpful. He has thought through all the needs of cyclists and is prepared. His breakfasts are fabulous. He offers shuttle from the trail head. This I would suggest.

Our group of 4 stayed here on our first night of the GAP ride. Everything was fantastic and I'd definitely return for another visit anytime I ride the GAP. Jason's place was easy to find, plenty of space to store bikes and gear with maintenance spaces to make some adjustments. The rooms were super clean, spacious and comfortable. Inside the house was large to lounge around but we mostly enjoyed the backyard after the ride by the fire with some local pizza and a dip in the hot tub. Jason's breakfast was fantastic and the fresh coffee was exactly what we needed before hitting the trail to the top of the divide. Communication was great leading up the stay - his hosting was top notch. Give him a visit and take advantage of this bike and shuttle services.

Absolutely incredible place to stay!I was there for work so it was wonderful coming back to a cozy atmosphere after a long day. Also, Jason is an amazing cook! All the breakfasts and my box lunch was delicious!Safety: As a woman traveling alone, safety is always on my mind. This is a safe, secure area and Jason keeps the main lights on and doors locked. I felt extremely safe the whole time.

We had the ultimate goal of trying out Tracks and Yaks, a railroad biking tour company (Google it if you haven’t already. Highly recommend!).Everything went according to plan, with the exception of having a good nights rest. The beds in our room were absolutely horrible. I’m not even sure where to start with describing how bad they were. As soon as we sat down on a mattress half the mattress would start to sink to the other side. Imagine being a kid and trying to make a slide out of your mattress… well for this one you didn’t have to try anything, it came included in your night stay. The bed also shakes really bad. Not only do the beds turn into slides, the bed also compared to a water bed. I haven’t been on a water been since the early 2000s but staying here was certainly like being in throwback period. The beds screams at you whenever you move or turn over. Imagine again, a bed that turns into a slide when you sit on it, a water bed when you lay on it, and the screeching noise the beds make every time you turn over or move in the bed. It was bad. We were up all night because we didn’t trust the beds. Here’s my biggest complaint. I get that we stayed Labor Day weekend and everyone likes to charge more on holiday weekends, but how are you going to charge $170 per night, with beds that horrible? Staying in a hostel would have been more comfortable. If the nightly charge is that expensive, then you should be able to replace the beds or charge a lower price, especially with only having 4 rooms in the house. Even if it’s a historical building/house whatever, there’s no reason for you to have guests staying with beds that horrible.I would only recommend staying here once they upgrade their beds. No complaints otherwise.Noteworthy details: Very spacious hotel room in a convenient location. Not worth the price however.

We really enjoyed our stay here. For months before our trip, Jason helped us plan a great ride on the GAP. Shuttle service was excellent. We spent a night at the Allegheny Trail House, enjoyed the delicious breakfast, then were shuttled along with our rented e-bikes (all provided by Jason) to Pittsburg to start our ride. After a wonderful 5 day ride on the beautiful trail, we ended our ride in Cumberland. Jason picked us up there and we spent another night with him at the Trail House. We loved everything about our stay, from the rooms, the beds, the breakfast. Would definitely would recommend this full service establishment.

This place is awesome!! My boyfriend and I came here for our two year anniversary, and we loved the room. Jason's mom Chloe was a sweet soul, and she made us a delicious breakfast ? ?

Amazing spot when in the area. We were on the trail and it was well worth the ride up the hill to get here. Rooms were very nice and the vegan breakfast was a delight. None of us normally eat that way but really liked it.

Jason was our trail outfitter for a recent trip that covered 150 miles on the Great Allegheny Passage. He provided ebikes, shuttle and reviewed our lodging for the trip. We loved the entire experience!! I highly recommend planning your GAP trip w/Jason and a stay at the Allegheny Trail House. My sister and I did this trip to and made the FB page for the Connelville Canteen! Because of his extensive tour experience - we were able to drop the bikes off in Pittsburgh with the Traveller's Rest. We took Amtrak to Cumberland and Greyhound back from PITT making the entire trip #carfreeNoteworthy details: Allegheny Trail house is walkable to City of Frostburg Pool!!

Jason arranged shuttle service for four persons, four bikes, and our luggage from Cumberland back to our starting point at Confluence. The driver, Desiree, was prompt and professional. The shuttle was comfortable and had a very nice 4-bike rack. We didn’t stay at the Allegheny Trail House but wish we had. Next time!Nearby activities: The GAP Trail was wonderful! Well maintained, great views and well marked.

I would give it a 6 out of 5 if I could. The house is beautiful and there are private bathrooms in every room. The decorations are tasteful and the shared spaces were cozy. The hot tub was very welcome after a day on the bike. The locked bike room felt very secure.Their dog Kramer is adorable and you should play rope with him.The breakfast was good, with vegan options. Jason was quiet, kind, and helpful. His shuttle service and knowledge of the trail was very helpful as there was a detour over the Paw Paw Tunnel.Would absolutely stay again!
