“I do not give reviews lightly. This place fully deserves 5 stars for the amazing service we received from their employee yesterday. I am sorry I can’t recall her name, but it is the woman who is also a professor. Often times when I am in Frederick there is a very depressed atmosphere from the people there, not this shop. We obviously don’t fit the typical Frederick type, and sometimes are treated poorly because of it. Not here. They truly are accepting of people, they are just going to give everyone shoes to run without societal expectations. You don’t know how pleasant it is to not be asked why I have so many children, or about whether or not I use birth control, which is a normal occurrence for me at stores.I brought in four sons. A normal store would see us coming and cringe. We were greeted with a smile and this lovely woman got right on figuring out our hard cases. My children really get set in their ways. They’ve been wearing their too small shoes a while now, determined not to like any shoes. Over the summer I’ve literally purchased 40 shoes from Zappos for them to try and all were returned because they didn’t like the fit or comfort, etc. I was so happy to get our children fitted by Charm City because they are the experts. I know jack squat about shoes. They spent an hour finding the right pairs!They have a great return policy. You’ll get expert fittings. They are very dedicated. Money doesn’t grow on trees, especially for our big family, but every penny I spent here was worth it. Thank you!!!”
“Shoes for everyone. The store is large and well stocked. Items are organized and the store is clean. If they don't have your size in stock you can order it and have it sent to your house.Prices are very good. Selection and sizes are plenty. Everything is help yourself. Lots of benches to sit and try on. Register lines are never long. Employees are very helpful. The store is handicap accessible.”

“My family visited Frederick this year because my boyfriend is from the area. We wanted to take advantage of some shopping, so I brought my little sister to the Velvet Lounge as I have been meaning to check this store out from several visits ago.Just as preface, my sister has a physical disability (achondroplasia) which makes shopping very difficult. She will frequently avoid it, but she wanted to enter the store because she thought the mannequins were fashioned very nicely and became excited about the styles (this is super rare for her, so I rolled with it).We started to look for clothes that could be easily tailored to accommodate my sister’s sizing needs. One of the salespeople — whose name I really wish I asked for — saw my sister getting frustrated about the material on a sweater and, very gently, offered to find easy-to-tailor alternatives that mirrored the style of sweater my sister liked. It was handled with such ease and no fanfare; there was no big deal made about my sister’s sizing needs and the woman was so kind and helpful that, after the experience, my sister reported she would love to go back (another rarity!).We were successful and my sister found two shirts that made her feel good about herself; I could not be more appreciative to the woman who had helped me, and the next time I return to Frederick, I am going to try to let her know just how much this meant to my sister and I! ❤️”
“Good prices and selection but price tags above shoes are often misplaced. Today my daughter picked a pair that were under a $29 price tag but they rang up for $49. This has happened several times. No courtesy discounts are given and your lucky to get an apology. Besides that it's a good store”
“I had such a pleasant experience purchasing ballet shoes and I look forward to returning! My coworker who teaches dance to preschool through high school students in the evenings suggested I go here. Footlights has an abundant inventory and employees who clearly enjoy what they do! The young gentleman who helped me was so kind and knowledgeable. As I was paying for my items, I observed him so carefully and gently assisting a mom and her very young daughter with choosing the best leotard. The young lady who worked the register was just as friendly as could be toward me.
