John initially responded quickly. I followed up with him every few weeks for about 2-3 months for an update and have not received a response. He ghosts.

The first year things were fine. But then it got significantly worse each year. Last year I provided everything in April, and the return was barely filed by the Oct 15th deadline. Very little communication, lots of ghosting. Error on the return that we caught. And then Maryland said tax was done wrong and we owed additional money. Very poor experience, would not recommend. Went to TurboTax this year and everything was done in 2 days by a CPA and it cost less.

I'm trying to find the right words to describe my experiences and to avoid my review from being too influenced by my emotions.At the end of the day, my experiences with Mr. Curtin was shockingly disappointing.There was simply no communication at all between us. I just received an automated email out the blue saying that an extension was requested. Not even a heads up or a explanation on what was going on. Promises where he would reach out the following week to wrap up the return just came and gone. No response.My repeated emails were ignored, phone calls never picked up, taxes completed late (completed two days ago after sending in the documents in Feb.) and even after completing my taxes, when I sent a follow up question to gain some clarity, that email was also ignored.I had gone to Mr. Curtin due to the numerous 5 star reviews and I continue to wonder why my experience went so poorly compared to other customers.I really am confused and continue to ask myself if it was something I had done to receive the type of service I received.

John Curtin handles our personal as well as business taxes and he is our go-to. He is straightforward, honest and reliable. And he is very knowledgeable in his field. We appreciate him and Debbie!

My. Curtain well versed in tax law. He responds to requests promptly. When searching for an accountant, we were very impressed. Ultimately it came down to his office and one other. We chose not to use this office for two reasons. First the amount expected for his services was high. He confidently told us the amount, (over twice the amount of the other cpa). Without blinking an eye, he said that many have chosen to go elsewhere when hearing his price. Confidence is good, but giving the impression that customers are unnecessary isn't. The second reason is that instead of a team, he works alone (only with one part time secretary). I'm feel that he must do a great job and could simply work on his customer service and perhaps explain the benefits that come with the higher fees.

This was our first year using John and going off of his Google reviews was spot on. We were looking for an accountant to help with our w2's and business related taxes and he was there every step of the way during the process. He is very professional, detailed oriented and communicated with us through every question we had. Felt very secure knowing that everything was protected using his portal. We would highly recommend using him for all your taxes needs.
