The one star may not be a completely fair review but we have had countryside as our vet for a couple of years now and this may be an instance of a practice getting to big and not having enough time to give to each individual pet. We took my 13 year old staffordshire in with shaking, dialated eyes , panting and whimpering and they could not find anything wrong so they prescribed a steroid. The steroid seemed to make her worse so we came in with me crying that she was acting as if she was close to dying. She presented with confusion, dialated eyes, panting, placing herself into corners, losing the ability to use her left side , we had also said she had been screaming ( not whimpering) but screaming . They gave her an x ray, said everything looked fine. They told us , as this dog was trying to walk confused around a waiting room that her color was good, her quality of life was good and perhaps they could try to get her into a cardiologist on Monday ( with a shrug of their shoulders) We should have KNOWN as the dogs owners that trusting the vet after that was wrong. They gave us a trazadone with the instructions to give her a half to make her settle and they would call us Monday. That night , our dog screamed, she was completely not aware of her surroundings and then fell completely unconscious from the trazadone, only to have screaming fits periodically before laying on her side and not ever waking up again. Needless to say , we called the mobile vet who euthanized her. His opinion after hearing the symptoms and seeing her was that she may have had a series of strokes or a brain tumor , none of which was mentioned by our vet. As for the after care , they were notified that Izzy had passed away and didn't deem it necessary to call us , not for remorse, not an I'm sorry, not a word . DO BETTER

We take our three dogs to Countryside, and have worked with every vet there now during the past three years. Always very happy with the above and beyond service from the vets, the techs, and the front of the house staff who are friendly and helpful every visit. I almost hate referring people to Countryside because they are frequently busy and it can be a challenge to get appointments - although on several occasions now when one of my dogs has an immediate problem they have accommodated us for same-day visits. We trust them with the lives of our cherished ladies - I'm not sure there can be a higher compliment than that.

Follow up to my previous review bc I am not sure I can reply to her message. The business manager responded, stating that "I may have have missed the complete physical exam bc I was texting." When the doctor came in, I was taking notes down on my phone, not texting. I found this response to incredibly rude and again, will not be recommending this place to anyone!

Pricey but absolutely great business and service. They work hard to squeeze you in when you need a visit ASAP and ALL the providers I've interacted with have amazing bedside manner and know what they're talking about. They never force anything on you and give you options for the future should you need it (for example: my dog was licking her paws a little bit and they told me that if it became more intense, give them a call and they'd get a med for her if I wanted it a week or two down the road). Highly recommend for your furry loved one!!

We first went here initially to use the doggie day care. We got there for what they call an eval and they took us back for an exam then informed us we needed to go to their vets to do daycare. Our pup is only 6 months old the vet wanted to give vaccinations based on our paperwork we said no I think we need paperwork from our previous vet and good thing they were going to give the vaccines he already had. Then daycare we were supposed to get an eval of how things were going and we had to ask on his visits they said he is really well behaved and Very shy. We went there a total of 5x and every time I ask they said he's so sweet. Then we get a call saying he is not a good fit he nipped and lunged at a staff member when being placed in the kennel that was very odd he has never lunged at anyone and he was crate trained and has no problem as well hospitalized and they too said he was gentle. Makes no sense at all they said you should look for a better fit and I agree because if you can not handle a 6 month old puppy then I would not recommend your services to anyone of course they are going to nip most pups do. Definitely give this place a thumbs down. I really think they are overwhelmed with too many clients . Way too many red flags. We are taking our 30 pound shy fury filled baby pup elsewhere lol

Wow! They are overpriced and charge you money for every single little thing. They also said that someone I know made the front desk person cry! She just asked a simple question. I don't usually write reviews but they were so mean and overpriced!

I boarded our one year old beagle at Countryside this weekend because our usual go to boarding place was full. So Ruby had her bones and blanket packed in her little red suitcase. It was never opened. It was almost not found to return to me. So for 48 hours of care the bill was over $100 and I have no idea how special that care was. I do know she never saw her blanket or toys. She's fine but I really am not very impressed. Our other two dogs received way more attention and care at another facility in town. Someone actually paid attention to their eating ,etc habits and wrote down any concerns. Ruby did not get that level of concern or attention I'm disappointed. I feel like someone tried to fool me and it just did not work...

We recently switched to this practice after not feeling listened to at our previous vet. The experience has been night and day so far. I immediately felt at ease because both the techs and the vet listen to all our concerns and addressed every point. They accommodated me brining all 3 of my animals at the same appointment to minimize extra trips.

I gave this a 3 out of 5 for their private survey. The vet called me, apparently offended that she didn't get a better review. I reminded her that this was a private review (and so it should have been for HER benefit), but she was very defensive and only got more defensive, in my opinion. I was never able to MEET her when I took my dog to her, due to how she handles the Covid epidemic. Note that their website does NOT say the pet-parent will not meet the vet but rather that masks are required. Also, she could have met me via Zoom or FaceTime but said I didn't "request" that. How would I know that was something to request, when I assumed I would meet her? Seems like that would be up to the staff to offer. But they didn't. I was truly shocked that a vet could be so defensive and difficult. Additionally, it was only in her phone call to me that I learned that she thought my situation with my dog was "dangerous." I had asked her about medications for my dog (not in her records) and she suggested Prozac, which I am considering. I asked about Lithium carbonate but she said she didn't know that supplement. A couple days later I received a letter dismissing me and my little dog because "we are unable to meet your needs." In looking at other Yelp reviews and seeing that one of them said that customers are asked repeatedly to "vote" for the vet to be the "Best of Howard County" I can assume that is how they got that award. I think 3 stars is really too high. She sent records but they were cut off at the bottom, incomplete.

Our family has been through a lot with Countryside Vet! It is hard to find a vet that is comfortable examining exotics, let alone performing a surgery. Countryside not only performed a surgery to remove one of my guinea pig's eyes, but was also extremely caring and compassionate when pre-existing issues slowed the healing process. Countryside was again very sympathetic and kind when another of our guinea pigs passed away. We also have a senior dog that we have learned so much more about since bringing her to Countryside. Since we have had such a variety of veterinary needs, I think we have gotten to speak with each of the vets that work at Countryside and I would trust them all with my pets. Each vet takes the time to educate us on the issue and provide more information if needed. Every other staff member has very kind and friendly to us! I can see why someone would say their services are somewhat pricey, but you are paying for quality care. I know they are not here to take advantage of concerned pet-parents. Countryside had plenty of opportunities to overcharge me for follow-up visits or products, but were instead always compassionate and showed they genuinely cared about my pet's health. They also have an app and rewards program - which helps! I appreciate Countryside and the care they have given to our family so much, I continue using them even since moving out of the area. I absolutely recommend them for their amazing service from the vets and staff!

Really impressed with Countryside! My boyfriend and I take our 2 cats to Dr. Soverns. Unfortunately they've both had some health issues recently, but Dr. Soverns took really good care of our boys and would call us to check in on them and see if their symptoms were improving. She does a great job explaining her thinking and why she's recommending a treatment. She also really listens to our concerns and takes them into consideration when coming up with a treatment plan. The staff are all super friendly and remember our cats, which is awesome considering they see so many animals! We'll be staying with Countryside as long as we stay in the area! Cannoli and Peanut thank you!

My experience here was negative. First off, yes they are expensive. The most amount of money I've ever spent on routine check-ups and lab tests. The front staff are nice but unfortunately my last straw was the doc I saw about my cat. I made an appt to bring her in because the hard food she was on she couldn't keep down at all. I brought her in to get help for her because she was throwing up and I bought wet food for her because she needed to eat something (and I had been wanting to do that anyway). Cats cannot go more then 24 hours without food. It's a long story. Anyway, at the appt I was ridiculed for feeding my cat wet food and was pushed heavily on Science Diet (Google how bad that food is for your pet and the kickback they receive for every bag sold) and I left the appt very upset. He did order a lab test for her but he NEVER actually helped with my issue of getting her to eat. There was no care or compassion. He never offered advice and never respected the fact that I was switching her to wet food even if he didn't like it. He kept bringing up that the FDA put out a warning that pets need grains or they will basically die. That is UNTRUE and you can see what the FDA says on it's website. It says that pet food that does not contain Taurine can be detrimental to the health of your dog. The FDA has not issued a statement on cats yet but it works the same way. Taurine is an essential amino acid that is added to food because they do not get enough of it like they would in prey in the wild. Then I get an email actually persuading me to switch to Science Diet! At this I decided that I would never take my pet back there. Unbelievable I would get an email-first time ever for that. I believe the persistence behind this is to make their cash register go cha-ching! I then wrote a letter detailing my complaint and thoughts and of course I never received a response. I never received an apology and perhaps I would get one if I walked in but that is creating a scene. In the end I did the research and I got my cat to eat wet food with treats and patience. Actually, two cats and they are happy, they don't throw up and lost weight. They are healthy! Cats do not need grains as they do not eat it out in the wild for nutrition. They eat mice which can have minute amounts consumed but they will not eat grains for what they are. Animals also do not need corn. Remember you can always get a second opinion and do research on your own through verified websites like the FDA. But that is my experience with this vet. I went in thinking they were the best per the awards they've received but am patting myself on the back instead of the doctor for helping my cat better.

We have been a member of the Countryside family since 1996! WOW - 23 years! In that time, we have been through so much joy and sadness with our beloved pups always with Countryside as our partner. Every member of Countryside has been quick to show compassion and care during those horribly heartbreaking times and has been the quick to celebrate when we've added a new pup to the family. Over these many years Countryside has maintained top notched staffing - from the Veterinarians, Veterinary technicians to their front desk staff. The wonderfully patient Vets are always sure to fully explain conditions, diagnosis and recommendations ensuring that we completely understand and are comfortable with we need to do to provide the best care for our pups. Countryside Veterinary Clinic does not only provide superlative veterinary care but have become friends and partners who's goal is keeping our fur-babies happy and healthy!
