Long story short: Despite having a confirmed reservation, I was left without a car by Avis.Detailed Experience: I reserved a car at the College Park Avis location (at Holiday Inn) one day in advance. Upon arrival, the front desk informed me that they do not honor reservations and had no car available for me. They claimed to have called me three times to inform me, but I only received one call, which, when returned in a few minutes, redirected me to national customer service—a pattern that continued with all subsequent calls.Directed by Avis customer service to seek a car at another location, I encountered only sold-out sites and was finally advised to go to the airport, where I was informed of an additional $600 charge for airport pickup. They also informed me that I could not make a same-day reservation because they sold out all the cars as well.This mishap cost me 5 hours of futile attempts to resolve the situation, $100 on Uber, $200 on a non-refundable hotel reservation, and a complete mess up to my travel plan, all because the College Park location did not have my reserved car available.Avis’s handling of this situation—from communication breakdowns to customer service mismanagement—was incredibly frustrating.

Absolutely horrible customer service. Confirmed rental 24 hrs in advance, get to site no cars. Had a Mini van but wanted to charge me an upcharge. How can a car be confirmed but they have no cars.

If I could give zero stars I would. I have rented from other Avis locations, but only once from college park location once prior to this most recent rental. The first time it took almost an hour to check out. There were two people ahead of me. As a result I was late getting to where I needed to be.This most recent time check out wasn’t bad but the vehicle I reserved was not the vehicle I was given. The car was an EV. When the car was brought out I specifically asked if it was an EV and the attendant told me it was not. I got on the road only to realize it was in fact an EV but didn’t have time to take it back and it was barely charged. The trip back home, which should have taken no more than 3 1/2 hours took almost 12 house because of the lack of infrastructure for charging vehicles.To say that I am disappointed and upset is an understatement. I cannot get an entire day back. I do not recommend nor will I rent from this location again.

I am profoundly dissatisfied with AVIS's customer service. Despite making a reservation for economy cars four days in advance, our visit to the location was met with disappointment as the person at the desk informed us that no cars were available. The purpose of making a reservation seemed futile at that moment. Seeking assistance from the customer service representative proved equally disheartening, as they conveyed that a reservation does not guarantee a car and suggested available cars at another location, albeit at a higher price. This raises serious questions about the efficacy of AVIS's reservation system.The entire customer service experience was pathetic, and I would not trust AVIS again. Better choose other rental car providers in this area that provide better customer service.

Short Version: I cannot recommend this Avis. Getting in and out of the rental location took longer than it needed to, I ended up paying 60% more than I was expecting based on the price shown on the website during reservation, and the attendant considered charging me more when I returned the car ahead of schedule.Longer Version: I was able to rent a car from this location and the car did not break down. However, I cannot recommend this Avis location and will be choosing other locations in the future. After arriving a few minutes early to pick a compact size car I reserved the day before for a one day rental, I was informed that they did not have any cars that size available and that I could pay a 30% upcharge for a Camry. The Camry turned out to be out of service so I was given the keys to a Ford Edge. The Ford was riding on its spare tire with the original tire blown out and sitting in the trunk. I returned the keys to the Ford and was given a Toyota Highlander instead. About 40 minutes after arriving at the Avis, I was finally able to get going about my day. As it turned out, the rental agreement I was given indicated that the fuel tank was full when in fact it was at 3/4 tank when I got into the driver's seat. With the size of the car, filling it back up to full cost me another 30% in gas above what the sticker price was for the compact car when I made the reservation. Upon returning the vehicle, the attendant almost charged me another 40% for putting too few miles on the car. I have never heard of such a charge but the attendant thought he was doing me a favor when I said he'd waive the extra fee.

The front desk is extremely slow and there is no way you can have what you want without waiting for 30 minutes even there was just one group of people for one car in front of you. I suggest the management fire this front desk

Through, thorough service. I feel like a VIP every time I visit this location. Today I needed a vehicle to get out of town on a family emergency and my visit was swift and efficient and I felt taken care of. This will be my location of choice from now on. Thank you again

MARY had the most disgusting attitude ever. She approached me with “what do you want want” instead of “how may I help you”…. She walks away mid conversation to pick her nose and walk back without sanitizing her hands. I don’t know how they let someone with such bad attitude and horrible customer service skills get work there. Mary needs a new job!

I like the ppl at the location but something suspicious is going on at this location… 5 rentals in a row I’ve been over charged and I always have to call in a fix it.. on 2 sep occasions this location literally stole reward points from my account for nothing and I had to call and have Avis replace my stolen points….. 4 times I’ve been charged for a extra day even though I returned on time !! And this last instance I was charged for a full tank of gas when I returned the car ON FULL!!! This location has caused my to overdraft my bank account due to these frivolous over charges!!!! It needs to be stopped!!!!! And I also need to be compensated for overcharging and overdrafting my bank account !!!! DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION I FEEL LIKE THE OWNER MAY B SCAMMING CUSTOMERS AND THERE NOT NOTICING IT

Wish I can give Zero stars, (but need to give 1 star) for the Worst customer service, Twice I trusted this location for Avis car rental but just 30 mins before car pickup they called me saying they don't have a car available. Even after booking the reservation 3-4 days in advance and paying the full amount of reservation this location is not able to fulfil and provide car for reservation.If you are in College Park area better to go for Enterprise rather than Avis.
