Dropped in my favorite store in the world to inquire about framing 2 pictures. Said more than once I live far away and happened to be in the area - so did not have my pictures with me. Just wanted to look at frames to get ideas. WOW - at least five times the very nasty owner said she really needed the pictures to help. At least 5 times I explained that I did not have them with me.....well, long story short - she just lost a great job and managed to kill any joy I had when I went in. Can't make this up. Even told her the style I was looking for, (British Colonial) and perhaps I could look at frames - once again a lecture - that style means many things, blah, blah, blah - but, alas, I knew what I was looking for! I also know that a pleasant face and "thank you for stopping in - especially since you live far away and mentioned this was your favorite store..." goes a long way. Good luck to you and sorry that darling artist you partner with has to put up with your nasty disposition.
