“Long-story short ?: Tyrone is the owner. He gave his fellow workers the Saturday off and let them head out early. He was there to finish the work nearing the end of the day. He took me right and the car was in and out shortly after. He ordered the parts and got them in really quick. Very well done business! Tyrone replaced the spark plugs, told me he fixed an air leak that was probably making acceleration lag. When I drove the vehicle, I needed some time to analyze his work, but the car drove great
While waiting at the shop, I could tell he's a family man, donates his time to the community and sponsors local youths' sports teams.
I was on my way home from my ocmd beach vacation (literally the middle of my travel route home), my car's check engine light came on, flashing. Apparently flashing signifies not to drive with it on, my passenger read in the manual.
I wanted to find a good place to stop if I wasn't able to start the car back up. I picked the closest Autoparts store. There was a nearby VW-specific mechanic who I called after pulling out my "vehicle maintenance code device", reading multiple "cylinder random misfires".
It was Friday afternoon around 1:30 and the VW mechanic wasn't gonna get around to it for at least an hour and a half, but I also needed to reach a towing service to get my car less than a mile down the road. At least he provided me with the towing company he uses. They wouldn't get to me for 3 hours. That 3 hrs took would take the time to 4:30. The VW mechanic told me he wouldn't get around to my car by the end of his day, at 5. He couldn't promise working on it until Monday.
My parents were 2.5 hrs away and weren't ending their vacation for another day. Our next option was 2.5 hrs north in central PA. My navigator's sister or father who both were at work could pick us up, but we would have to leave the car. Even though it was a Friday and we should have been able to "extend" our vacation at a hotel, he needed to make it to his Saturday job (No response from his manager when he forewarned him of our predicament).
My parents had found "Chesapeake Auto Repair" nearby, after failure to restart the vehicle we walked down the road past an assisted living facility, strip mall, township administration building and an inactive, active-construction-site, we arrived.
The front desk receptionist was the first person we talked to. I pled my case and she immediately fetched a workman from the shop in the back. Telling yet another person my entire troubles, he told me that I was in a "rough spot" (between a rock and a hard place), that he would immediately work on it if I could get my car to his shop...”
“Amazing job on my car! Danny made me feel like I left with a new car. It’s been a few months now and it’s still driving like new. It’s hard finding a great mechanic but Danny is definitely one. Honest diagnostic and service.”
