I am a working Maine Guide and needed a new outboard for the flats boat on which I do fly and light tackle charters. I shopped around and was dreading dealing with ANY local marina based on the way I've been treated in the past. In short, if you're not dropping hundreds of thousands of dollars with them, you're not a priority. From day one dealing with Curt at Yankee, I was treated like gold. I received a very fair quote on my outboard, it was delivered and installed on schedule, and the installation was clean, unbelievably professional and clearly done with great care. A week after i picked the boat up, I received an unsolicited call from Curt to find out how I felt about the performance of the boat. I told him my thoughts (I had some concerns) and he said he wanted the boat back in immediately for adjustments. The updates improved the performance 100% the personal treatment was unexpected and refreshing. I'm a customer for life now. Thanks so much, Yankee, for outperforming your giant, turn-and-burn competitors. You guys care, and it shows.

I would recommend not taking your boat to Yankee Marina for any reason whatsoever -- even if it is literally the only place in the Casco Bay region with winter storage space available. That is why I took my boat there. If I had known how careless and shoddy the work would be and how patronizing, dismissive, dishonest, and aggressively rude the "service" would be, I never would have gone there. The person who handled my initial inquiry was wonderful. Everything after that was a disaster. I am surprised to see some older positive reviews because my experience was quite similar to that described by Brendan Slagle in his recent review. Seriously, take your boat to anywhere else, even if it means going farther than you want to. The inconvenience of going farther is nothing compared to the nightmare you could have at Yankee.

Quite possibly the worst marina in the whole of the Atlantic and Mediterranean. After returning from a ~2.5 year and 25k NM transatlantic voyage, my wife and I wanted to find a boatyard in Casco Bay to keep our boat in the off season for the foreseeable future. We made arrangements to bring our Creekmore 45 to their yard months in advance, provided them with all of our boat stats and recent pictures, signed the contract, and paid our deposit. We asked for the mast to be pulled and requested a quote to have some rigging work done due to some gear failure while returning from sailing through the arctic. We made an overnight ~100 NM trip to get the boat there on the agreed upon date (while my wife was 6 months pregnant) and dropped the boat off on a Sunday. The following day we received a voicemail from yankee marina saying that they weren’t able to pull the mast, and that they didn’t want to haul our boat because it “wasn’t well cared for” and didn’t fit in with the other high end yachts they typically service. When we offered some troubleshooting advice on pulling the mast, Adam (the yard manager) said he “wasn’t going to put any more time into it.” After pleading with them to haul the boat they finally agreed to do so with the mast up.A week later we received an invoice for 15hrs worth of labor for the failed attempt to pull the mast. When we called to discuss the (exorbitant) charge and question the accuracy of the invoice we were accused of being cheapskates and that “that’s why we don’t like to deal with you DIY boaters.” When we pointed out that we had requested a quote to have the marina do thousands of dollars worth of rigging work (among other things), we were told that they didn’t have the staff to take on any new work. We have never been so insulted in any customer service experience in our lives, nor treated so poorly by a supposed “full service marina”. We ultimately just paid the invoice in full to be done with the situation even though we know there is no way that 15 hours were spent trying to pull our mast unsuccessfully. It’s impossible to overstate our disappointment and frustration with yankee marina. We truly wanted nothing more than to find a home for our boat for years to come after voyaging through foreign waters. If you want a full service marina that caters to serious sailors steer clear of yankee marina.

Huge Kudos to Debbie and her team at Yankee Marina. We were delayed in our departure and needed to get some parts and supplies. She unselfishly loaned us a car TWICE and was super accommodating throughout our stay! If you find yourself up in the Yarmouth area, consider this marina for sure.
