Extremely unethical. Listen to the other one star reviewers. On one item, the auctioneer had seller’s remorse and entered a fake shill bid online against me which was not announced on the auction floor. Every other competing bid regardless of the platform that day was announced live on the floor. They denied that they accepted my bid and then when I presented proof, they admitted I was the leading bidder… but still too bad for me I guess. While I was disputing the resulting invoice (which only included one of the two items I believed I won in the auction), they charged my credit card on file without my permission, set the winning item to “arrange your own shipping” so that I wouldn’t be able to use the platform’s shipping service, and now are threatening via their outrageous terms to charge me storage fees, to sell my item out from under me, and to charge another 30% premium. Can you believe it? These people should lose their license. I plan to take some kind of legal action against this company.

Sold me a 1911 that just had an extractor problem. Not true, they made the barrel fit by cutting it. Many problems. I would not deal with them again. Buyer beware. Never said that the gun has been returned and that they never fired it. There was more undisclosed information that was never released. Be careful. They keep information that will hurt the transaction and say they did nothing wrong. This was after I put a bid on the item and asked for more information. Very disappointed, the auction house did not disclose all conditions of the item. But they are very thorough in mentioning their conditions of sale. Be very careful. The condition report that was sent to me , which I asked for before it hit the block. That could have been cancelled using invaluable was that the Firearm "stovepiped" . Nothing was mentioned that it was returned once, nor was it ever checked that it would fire a round. This was related to me after I took it to a gunsmith. Nor was the firearm ever said to be a "Frankenstein" weapon. Total misrepsentation. Buyer Beware of this auction house. Just gives you details that suit them. Never trust them or purchase from them again and suggest others to be quite sure. Ask for a complete condition report and even them would be skeptical.Should have been sold as "non"firing" since they didn't know it worked or not. As to my question, they answered it after the auction, it could have been cancelled right up to the auction time. This firearm had defects that the gunsmith should have known, let alone putting it in an auction after it was returned to them. Shame on them.

I highly advise against bidding and selling with this gallery, especially if remote. When bidding online, my high bid was not accepted and instead the lot was given to another by the auctioneer. When confronting the auction house, I was met with hostility and with no desire to reconcile the error. In this case, not only was the bidder affected by this disservice, but so was the consigner, who didn't realize maximum sale price. At best, this gallery cannot handle technology, at worst, the auctioneer is being unethically preferential to some bidders.
Update:
I want to make myself absolutely clear, and I will only state this one time at the beginning of this reply. At no point did I hurl insults at ANYONE at this gallery. The fact that this was even mentioned in their reply is absolutely childish, akin to gaslighting, and 100% a straight-up fabrication. To be clear, there was a very stern conversation happening, and the if the person can't tell the difference between an upset customer and verbal abuse, they should not be handling customer complaints. Since this is clearly a deflective measure to avoid any real accountability, it must be addressed. I will state again, that no person with an elementary understanding of the English language would every insinuate that anything I said could be construed as abuse or an insult to the employee of this auction house. Enough of this.
The facts: the fact that I called while the auction was still occurring was so you could rectify the issue before furthering damage from the error on your end. You mention terms and conditions that do not apply to this situation at all. There were no technical failures on my end. When live bidding, there is no such thing as having two of the same bid. The error could have only occurred from two possible instances: the inability by the auction house to manage technology properly, or some further impropriety on behalf of the auctioneer to favor one bid over another by simply not acknowledging a bid. To be clear, my bid was made, 100%, without error, on a pre-authorized account. I called within 60 seconds of the lot closing to allow you to quickly rectify the issue.
This lot should not have been awarded. Period.
Yes, the items they sell are one of a kind. I'm only asking they award me the item I rightfully won, or re-open the lot for further bidding. Period. That is the only fair thing to do.

I purchased from Thomaston Place some of my favorite pieces - they make the bidding and post-auction process so helpful it's hard to stay away! Their conditions department got sent me an email with some additional photos, which really helped me feel secure in what I was purchasing. The front desk staff was so helpful to walk me through my options and discuss which form of bid made the most sense for me, whether that was phone, absentee, or online. They walked me through the difference scenarios to make sure I understood my premium and the pick up process. After the auction, I was notified I won my two lots!!! They helped schedule me for a pick up for my pieces and when I arrived for my pieces, they were pulled and ready for me. Overall, the experience was a positive one and helped introduce me to the auction world!

Buyer beware..
Veilleux plays games. I bought a painting where they didn't disclose who the painting was by, and described it as something it was not and I stupidly fell for it. Cost me a lot of money. My fault, but i would never buy from them again. I was a naive buyer, they look for people like me. (The name of the artist was on the back of the painting, and no mention of it at all in the description)

I see now why you have so many and such terrible one star reviews, literally the least professional, totally incompetent, useless apology for any auction house that I've ever had the misfortune to do business with, I should have followed the advice of your reviewers and stayed well away.

WORST OF THE WORSTI deal with dozens of auction houses through Live Auctioneers as well as directly. This auction house is the absolute worst of all. They are uncooperative in assisting with any shipping logistics, and when they wear you down, they sell what you bought. RUN don’t walk away from this group!

Terrible Customer Service, phony pictures of “Expert hands on review “ as you’re suppose to believe they are “Trusted” NEVER will I do business with this Auction Again, I feel bad for misleading buyers when I gave them a 5) Star review on an online Auction Site. Terrible way to do business, hopefully other buyers will go elsewhere.

First, they charge a whopping 25% buyer's premium which is among the highest you will ever see. Second, they tried to charge me $32 to ship a single currency bill. When I called to complain they said there was a $10 handling fee (not in the terms of service) and a charge for the box (they used a free USPS box). Postage and insurance for my single item should have come out to $17.20. To put this in perspective, the most I have ever paid in shipping fees for currency was $22 and that came from Canada. They did eventually take off $10 after I complained but this was still an overcharge. Even considering this, their attempt to gouge by a much as they did was unethical.

Thomaston Place has earned the lowest rating based on selling as genuine a fake Mexican imitation of a Navajo rug. Prior reviews show the selling of fake/misrepresented items is a serious repeat problem for this auction house. Thomaston did not respond when contacted on the issue.
