Took an Epoxy Techniques class with Jose. It was amazing. Jose does a great job of explaining things and answering why he recommends certain techniques. I'm so happy with how my board came out. ☺️

I live a couple hours away from the South Portland store, so don't get in as often as I like. However, I had some time yesterday and really appreciated the staff taking time to answer questions and give suggestions on my pen turning experimentation. One was not afraid to say they don't have a lot of experience, but he stayed right there while a second associate answered questions, and then the first helped me find the things I needed.
I always look forward to going there, because I know they have knowledgeable and helpful staff.

I love shopping at Rockler in South Portland. The store is very well set up with wide variety of items at good prices. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable.

Enjoyed our visit to Rockler woodworking store, well stocked and alot of books, tools and wood products to choose from. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful, needless to say we'll be back.

EDIT: Rockler reached out to me to inform me that they’ve had similar complaints recently from other customers and that they’re replacing their sharpening service. They also offered a refund which I didn’t except or ask for, which is massively appreciated. Updating my review to 5 stars thanks to fantastic customer service, and as I said the store itself and all the services they offer in-house have been perfect.DO NOT USE THEIR SHARPENING SERVICEGreat store, fantastic selection of products and the staff are fantastic with advice and setting you off in the right direction on projects. Biggest issue is their sharpening service. They send your tools offsite to a 3rd party who apparently have no idea what they’re doing. I gave them a carving hatchet and 12 hand tools and they came back to me 3 weeks later after they forgot about my tools. The tools came back to me stained with oils and water damage and weren’t sharpened at all. Using a bench grinder the whole process should have taken MAYBE 2 days, but I was away for a work trip and wanted to come home to sharp tools. $110 for 12 pieces that came back in worse condition than I sent them out. That will teach me to never shop out services again.

I am convinced the same people who work at the Apple Store and Trader Joe's also moonlight at Rockler in South Portland-- because they are some of the most friendly and helpful people you could imagine, and have an enthusiasm for their job that you just can't fake.Jose was a fantastic teacher for the handle turning class, and all the other employees that afternoon were equally as wonderful. They've earned my future business, and I think you should give them a chance to earn yours.

I am currently starting my first wood working shop. I went to the South Portland location to start buying some of the larger items. Table saw, drill press, jointer…. The staff is excellent to deal with! Very friendly and very knowledgeable about the products that they sell. I would highly recommend them to everyone! I will be a frequent customer there for the foreseeable future.
