I was able to book an appt on the weekend which I was so grateful for. Then the stylist, Stephanie Cochran, checked off every box you want your stylist to check off, imo. She explained what we were going to do step by step. She confirmed during the cut that she was understanding what I specifically wanted. She took her time and double checked that she didn’t miss anything. She even took the time to explain to me how to style it at home. She was gentle and comforting and I walked out of the salon with the hair I showed her inspiration pics of. I’ll be going back!

Stephanie did an amazing job on my hair. I love it. I had come in with my color messes up. I also had some breakage. Stephanie to the rescue.

I debated on writing this review, but decided today that it’s the right thing to do.I don’t appreciate being judged upon entering a room. No one does, but that’s what happened to me when I booked a color and cut here. Things turned around and I really like my hair, but I have to share my experience.I believe her name was Samantha - I was booked with her in November and as soon as she saw my BEAUTIFUL hair or maybe it was just because of my skin color, she froze up and declined to do my hair. It’s 2023, why hire or rent booths to stylists with limited hair experience and customer service skills? Imagine how that made me feel. My hair is fine and naturally has a very loose curl/wave pattern - literally anybody could have this hair type bc it’s rather ambiguous and dare I say easy hair to manage IF you know what you’re doing. She made me feel rejected and I even advised her to stick around and watch Caitlyn (I think was her name) so she can learn and not be such a limited stylist. She definitely left though! Now, the lady who graciously stepped in and did an amazing job is the other reason I had to leave this review. I want to say thank you for showing up for me and giving me what I wanted. I absolutely LOVE my color and cut.To the owner, I know you’re not local anymore, but Slidell is extremely diverse and there’s lots of ambitious, kind, and well rounded people in the area. Please prioritize diversity in experience and inclusivity at your salon. Samantha ain’t it!

I booked an appointment for cut and highlights. Brought a picture with me of what i wanted. First there was problems with the bleach and had to redo, then color mix did not work and did a redo on that. After over 4 hours (they have no magazines, no TV or wifi, although they say they do on website), I walked out with not the best haircut and could not see any highlights. My stylist, Kaitlyn told me to come back and she would do again at no charge. I called a few days later to come back in and spoke to Stephanie who was also there the day i had my hair done. She said she was going to call Kaitlyn and have her call me, which she never did. After paying $170 (with tip) Not happy and would not recommend.

If you have anxiety on if the stylist is going to mess your hair up (like a lot of them do) worry no more. This salon has so many talented hair stylists. I’ve been coming here for about 6 months and every time, Brooke has hit 100. Look no more. You won’t regret if. These ladies are talented and down to earth.Services: Haircut

Cannot say I’ve had a good experience at this hair salon. The first time I went to this establishment, I was taking my niece in for a haircut/style. She was starting High school, so it was supposed to be a fun experience. We walked in for our appt and immediately felt unwelcomed. We were On Time for a scheduled appt., however, was told quite rudely by the hairstylist that she she would need to cut the appt. short & would not be able to style her hair, just cut it. I was not going to take my niece out of there with wet hair and was baffled as to why hairstylist thought that would be ok. She was extremely unprofessional and rude. After cutting her hair, she indeed left it wet. I ended up styling it after the receptionist dried it. To say I couldn’t leave there fast enough, is an understatement.2nd experience…A month or so later, I booked a month long trip to Asia & of course as it happens, I needed a haircut and my roots done. My sister suggested a different stylist from the same location, that she had actually previously used. Even though I was verry hesitant to return to this salon, I only had a couple days to book my hair appt. It would be a diff. stylist, so I figured I would give The Color Bar another chance. I confirmed my appt. for 2 pm on a Mon. My flight was the next morning. I was cutting it close but I trusted my sister’s recommendation. As soon as I arrived to the salon, I was immediately hit with the heat. AC WAS NOT WORKING! I was seated at a station & was told the obvious, that the air conditioner was out of order. It was HOT! This was early Sept. in Louisiana Hot. I had no choice but to keep my appt. Had they called me when it initially went out, I could have made other arrangements but I was already there & was hopeful to be out of there quickly, as I didn’t want anything complicated & I still had a few errands to run before my trip. It was so hot in there that the hairstylist took soo long, that I ended up being there well past 8:30 pm…ALMOST 7 HOURS!! When I initially sat in the hairstylist chair, (let me preface by saying she was nice & seemed as knowledgeable as someone w/5 yrs experience would be) I explained precisely what I wanted. My roots covered, a few thin highlights on top (NOT my entire head, not even half head, just a few - I even explained where I wanted them) & a haircut. NO balayage (I clearly stated this) just a few highlights mainly to blend w/the money pieces in front. That was it! I had a photo & video of the cut to speed things along and explained the exact color I wanted (which was the same as what I already had). I told hairstylist that I was on a time crunch but was still understanding as I was beyond hot and could imagine that she was too. I even had to help move her along numerous times w/brushing the terrible tangles in my hair after she applied the bleach & then again before she blowdried my hair. When she was finally done-she acknowledged she was moving at a snails pace and I was getting v anxious looking at the time! When I went to pay, she gave me a bill of nearly $500.! I was shocked and felt taken advantage of. She said the reason was bc she needed to use a lot of bleach.! Never before have I ever been charged $250 for bleach alone! My sister who has 3 times the amount of hair than I do and got the works done previously w/her, which included full color, a full head of balayage and styling, was charged half of what I was being charged. Not that I was expecting a discount for the extremely uncomfortable 7 hours of no AC but to be charged almost $500 in those terrible conditions, was shameful. I was so hot, tired and anxious to leave that I just paid, added a generous tip and left. But my hair did not merit an almost $500 bill.

First I will say they are nice and got me in today with that being said I have never cried after getting my hair cut in all my life until today. I asked before I scheduled the appointment if someone knows how to cut curly hair I was told yes. Well she cut my hair shorter than she showed me, I told her I wear my hair curly now that it is so thin. So she gets done cutting my hair and starts to blow dry out I asked why are you doing that for one it’s raining outside and as soon as I walk out the door it’s going to be a BIG ball of frizz she said so she can see if she cut it straight. She asked me if I liked it and she clearly could see on my face that I did not with tears in my eyes. I said well I don’t wear it like this so I’m sure when it gets wet it’s going to draw up 2 more inches which will be way above my shoulders. She did not listen to anything I had to say and now I have to celebrate my mile stone birthday with this short hair.Service: Haircut
