I find this grocery store very expensive from what I was used to at HEB in Texas. I went there yesterday evening for their $3.97 a pound ground beef. This was the first day of the sale, and they said they were out of it. First day out of it??? They probably only put out two packages, as this has happened to me before. No decent grocery stores in Slidell. Oh how I miss HEB.

We ordered a bunch of food for my brother's memorial service. It was so good and reasonably priced compared to some restaurants in the area. Everything was hot and ready on time.

This has been my go-to grocery store since shortly after they opened here in Slidell, and I fondly remember going to a Houma store several times growing up. The staff in every location is always friendly and helpful, the selection is quite good (though not 100% consistent between stores), the place is clean, and the prices are reasonable. The Rouse's store brand is always quite good, nearly always on par or near par with the leading national and quality local brands. The meat, seafood, produce, bakery, deli, and even florist are all awesome. They carry smoking pecan in the fall, so I stock up not only for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but for summer smoking.
And they make the best Italian Sausage in-house! It's my first go-to when I have a few days warning that I need to cook dinner for 72 in a period of a few hours - I pre-order 72 Italian Sausages, pierce the casings, pop them in the oven or a roasting pan, and make Spaghetti and Marinara Sauce, pairing with Parmesan Cheese, green salad, and garlic bread (which they also make, ready to broil if time is that precious!). A family to about three dozen? Just show up and boom, done.

I give it three stars because I like this location and this is the first time I had a bad experience. I ordered a tray of 24 count sandwiches 2 days before my birthday party(which was on the 22nd I ordered on the 20th) and told the lady over the phone that I needed them for 12:00 pm, she had a stink attitude but I ignored it and gave her all the information she needed, ie. how many, my name, ends on or off, what type of meat and if I wanted mustard. I asked for ends off and mustard and when I got there not only was my sandwiches ready (they had to make them) I didn’t get what I ordered. The lady who placed the tray in my hand told me they put a couple more sandwiches on the tray for my tray which was just 2 and they did not help the messed up order. I hope you guys can address this in the future. Thank you

This store is very nice and well kept they how ever do not have a huge selection of somethings. It's definitely a local store. The cashier although are always very polite they look absolutely miserable doing their job.
