Bought some fried chicken from the deli counter. It look properly golden brown, but it tasted burnt.

I've loved this place since I was a kid! Since it's not a huge shop, it's easy to get in and out quickly. You can also get a nice selection of local goods. They may not have exactly everything on your shopping list, but you may also be surprised by the selection. Love it!If you're struggling to find parking, the lot by the flower shop usually has tons of spots, and it's all quite close.

I absolutely love this market. The checkers know everyone by name, and I've never met anyone on staff who wasn't cheery and helpful. It feels like stepping into a small town market even though you're in the middle of a large city. Two thumbs way up.PS - has anyone else noticed that this store looks eerily similar to the one in Michael Bublé's "Just Haven't Met You Yet" music video?

I'd forgotten this hen house location as I'd moved away. Liking the store and grateful they have humans as cashiers!

Debbie (Pharmacy) is by far one of the most unpleasant people I have ever met On two separate occasions now I have gone into the pharmacy for medicines, now I'm not rich I don't live in this area I just work here and both times her demeanor has just been hateful, on the first occurrence I set my water down on the table they have by the window and she got very angry about that explaining it was just for vaccinations which hey I understand. The second appearance happened today and made me start sobbing I've had an ear infection since September and needed to get medicine that was $7 I walked in with 15 in cash which is all I make in tips for a week and somewhere along the way I lost my $10 bill I set my stuff on the counter running around to find it and as I was starting to look around she got very disrespectful and told me I couldn't set my stuff on the counter at all becoming more distressed I started crying and had to sit down but she kept saying do you have $7 are you ready to pay? No empathy at all so I took the $5 I had and had to use my credit card for the rest for my medicine I guess I'm just a number. Also as I was leaving the first time this poor old woman was asking a question which she refused to answer just telling her you should have checked the websiteThanks Debbie I hope treating people like this makes you feel better because I can barely get home now

This is a much smaller and more manageable grocery, handy for anyone and especially for the elderly. The employees were very friendly and helpful.

Its a good grocery store. It can be expensive but not all the time, especially if its on sale with rewards card. if youre ever needing cheap drinks they may have some on sale, especially sports drinks.

When you say crab legs I am the first to the table. So, when my friends mentioned the sale at Hen House on Blackbob at $7.99 per pound I was all in. I stopped on July 4, 2023 after a day at Olathe Lake we’re we all came back from suffering from heat exhaustion. I just wanted some groceries and to get home to Liberty Mo and my A/C. I thought it odd the meat counter attendant gave me package with 2 prices on the label. He never mentioned I needed a Hen House card to get the sale pricing. I got to the cashier. Sheila was very pleasant. She asked if I had a card, but she too never mentioned I needed a card for the sale price. I don’t blame her. I think ? it is the training she has received that is lacking. Why would I get a card when I Live on the other side of town were there is no Hen House. Once I got home & was in my A/C I looked at my receipts and realized I was not given the sale price.?? I called the store today and asked to speak the the store director Jaye Davis. A woman answered the line claiming to be Jaye Davis. I explained my experience & was greeted not with an apology, but instead a got her brand of Buyer’s Beware customer service that left the Most Foul Taste in my mouth. ?She argued the the pricing label tells you that you have to have the card to get the sale price, but it just has 2 prices listed on label ( Regular / Membership). I shop at Price Chopper & Hy-Vee of which neither store requires your frequent shopper card to qualify for their sale prices. It will have to the end of every other grocer in town before I choose Hen House ???

I guess it's fine if you have their membership card thing, but honestly without it plan to pay about 175% above normal prices.

Not the best Hen House I've been to. Fresher produce, customer service, and product choices could use some work.

I generally like Hen House; I just don't like THIS Hen House. My favorite was the large store at I-35 between Johnson Drive and Antioch that closed a few years ago for reasons unknown. Now there are only these tiny Hen Houses left. Maybe people who live in PV like this store, but people who live in this neighborhood are just weird about their little "village." It's so small that sometimes things you see on sale in the mailer can't be found in store or aren't priced correctly. A major nuisance is that Hen House has the best salad bar in town, but you have to be eating the early bird special in order to try it.Usually when I go to the Hen House in Fairway at 7pm they're closing up the salad bar. That's way too early! So I was on the ball tonight & hit up this store that was closer to me before 6:30. Imagine my surprise when I get to the salad bar and it's already half-closed. Before 6:30. I know this is the Midwest, but does everyone seriously have dinner before 6:30? I'm usually still at work then. I was able to sneak a few things but was bummed that half the selections were already being stored for the night. The worst part about this store is the checkout "line." There's not really a line because of the small store footprint the checkout is basically in the aisle. What's also in the checkout aisle?? ZUM BARS!! You know the local soap company with the strongest smelling bars known to mankind? It's seriously an assault to the senses. In other stores I try to avoid the cleaning aisle and I always have to hold my breath when I walk by the ZUM bars. It's really unpleasant having to stand in the checkout for minutes when you can't hold your breath for that long. The heavy fragrance is an instant migraine inducer and that placement will keep me from ever shopping at this location again.

A great market in midtown. Near 71st and Mission road in Prairie village Kansas. Easy to find with plenty of parking. This is likely the smallest hen house market in the city but they have nearly everything the big stores have without the congestion and long hike to find everything. The prepared foods are especially good and the deli staff is very friendly and helpful. Easy to get in and out and open at 8 am makes this one of my regular stops for things I forgot to buy elsewhere.

The pharmacy employees are the best I've ever had to work with. The customer service is one of the worst I've ever seen . They're never at the counter and never in any hurry to get there when a customer is waiting. If I need something at the service counter and Jeff is working I turn around and leave the store. He's the worst person at the counter. Loved Joe wish he was back.

This is a very small yet mighty Hen House! I used to live fairly close by and still stop in every now and then as I find myself in the neighborhood. It's always clean as can be, tends to have a really great supply of fresh produce, and a good amount of other offerings to suit your needs. I don't feel like they have EVERYTHING I need, but I tend to enjoy shopping here overall.
