Great gallery with a mix of local and non-local artists. It's curated well, with everything serving a purpose, rather than a smattering of art. If you like anything you see on display, chances are they have a lot more you will like in storage and on display in other places, and they are happy to show you. Excellent service as well. It's our favorite gallery in Iowa.

I am a local artist who has lived in West Des Moines almost my entire life. Since I was a teenager I have gone to Olson-Larsen Galleries for opening nights and was inspired early on to pursue my BFA at the University of Iowa in painting after graduating from Valley High School.Recently I inquired about displaying my work and was told my work was "not a good fit" and "We try to limit our representation so we can best serve our artists and not spread our efforts too thin."This begged the question of which artists are they serving? I am one who has lived in this community, went to school, and came back to grow and raise my family in. As an artist who put a lot of time and effort in my work I don't get the impression they care too much about local artists, just the ones that make them profitable.
