I am Jeff Petty, actual owner of Petty Motors in Knoxville, Iowa. Beware of the fake / scam website pettymotors.com . I know of a guy that just lost $29500 thru a wire transfer for a car that doesn't exist. I have the Iowa state DOT and Iowa attorney general trying to get the scam website taken down. They have had some issues getting it resolved, as the scam website/hosting is not even being done in the United States.

This review is for pettymotors.com, a scam website trying to trade on the name of the legitimate business run by Jeff Petty in Knoxville, IA. A car that I was looking for popped up in my Facebook feed. They were helpful, responsive, showing faked documents, answering all my questions, and offering to take the car back if I didn't like it within 30 days. Something was off. Whether it was the salesman with the English sounding name, but strong accent I couldn't place, the documents, the deal, it was something. I looked up the address. From satellite, you can see a shed with trucks and equipment, not a fancy showroom. I reverse searched the photos they were using and ended up finding the car had sold in Phoenix AT THE PLACE THAT DOES HAVE THE FANCY SHOWROOM:streetsideclassics.com/v…DO NOT DO LONG DISTANCE BUSINESS WITH pettymotors.com.

The website is a scam. Stay away.If you get a call back it will be from a guy with a foreign accent that's hard to understand.

I personally have never bought from here, but I'm very familiar with Jeff's work and just wanted to share my thoughts with those of you who decide to leave 1-star reviews: I'm near certain it's not his fault. He spends hours working on trucks and doesn't sell them until he thinks they're ready to be sold, or has someone who wants it beforehand. To be blunt, chances are that if you find something wrong with him, it's your fault. You misunderstood the ad, you misunderstood what he said, you misunderstood the truck itself or YOU are being too picky about it! I don't really give a damn for if this review's taken down - just thought I'd share an opinion. Sorry if I'm not allowed to do that, either.. :)

Bought a used truck from him and headed out for kansas city a little before dark the truck ran like a new one. no problems what so ever the next day he texted me and made sure i made it home ok i would definitely buy another truck and would encourage anyone looking for a good used truck to check him out he has a good selection also Thanks Jeff

Bought a bucket truck from Jeff petty he said was in full working condition ready to go got truck brought in to get annual inspection done for boom for safety. Boom didn't work at all come to find out the truck got turned over while the boom was in the air cost me close to 30k to fix this truck. come to find out had salvage title on it and I couldn't even get a title for it until the state I registered it in inspected the vehicle when confronted about this he laughed and said just dump it on a action let the next guy deal with it. I said I already fixed it and I wouldn't do that anyway because that's a human life on the line if I wouldn't of gotten it inspected the scam artist Jeff petty could of seriously hurt me or killed me while using this truck! I asked if he'd help with expenses again he laughed and said "sue me" what a crooked dishonest guy he is don't buy anything from him he's a scab truck jockey! I'll be seeing you in court Jeff.
