This Target is right in the center of Downtown Iowa City. It's of course smaller than its suburban siblings, but it packs a lot of inventory in its 2 floors. The extended hours also accents the overall convenience of this place. The first floor is heavy on groceries, including a generous selection of beer and wine. That's a good thing for folks like me who took a bottle of wine back to my hotel room. Ditto for over 21 students and folks who live in the neighborhood or are visitors. They do card everyone, and I enjoyed the comment from a Target team member who had never seen a Nevada driver's license before. The 2nd floor is more household sundries, clothing, and other goods targeted towards more every day shopping.

It's okay/good, I love the style & convenience of it- but as a woman I hate that there's ONLY sports bras as the only only ONLY option. But I love all the other things there & what's available. But it CAN be pricy. If there was someplace cheaper, I'd be tempted to go there, but Walmart & the Dollar Tree are a bus ride away. Tho I do love Target's style SO much! It's so "me"! If I could give it 3.5 stars, I would. Until they improve on the few complaints I've had.

Today was my first visit to the Target downtown Iowa City and I was amazed. The store looks small from the outside but the inside has all the essentials! Groceries, cosmetics, clothes, etc etc. I was absolutely amazed and my youngest daughter and myself enjoyed checking out the store.

After picking up a new laptop earlier in the day from another Target store, we decided to try out this location as they had it in stock and it is technically closer to my Grandpa's house but the parking in this location is terrible for non "downtowners". We arrived and the girl running the CS was outstanding, she was shook that we would received an item like this and took care of the return without any issues. Additionally, she asked if we were still interested in that particular laptop and she would see if their store had one. Lucky for us, they did! She had it brought up for us and took care of it all. She showed so much kindness, compassion, and professionalism, we did purchase the laptop and she even gave a courtesy discount as because of the inconvenience we had today. I apologize I don't remember her name, however if IC Target management team continues to hire team members like that - they well on their way to being top store for customer service!Overall, this store has amazing team members. Keep it up, Target IC!!

What a cute lil Target.I was unsure what I thought about a giant like Target moving into my beloved downtown Iowa City. I want locally owned. I want eclectic labors of love. But... I'm a fan, it turns out.First off, I don't even know what has lived in that location all these years. I feel like it's been a revolving door of 'just ok' businesses... that has been vacant for quite some time. Second, it fills a void. There's fresh produce, snacks, alcohol, office supplies, over the counter meds, beauty items and other home goods. If I were a student, I'd pop in often-- there aren't too many places you can walk to from campus that offers ALL these things in one location. It's a two-floor one stop shop with reasonable prices, rad Hawkeye gear and $5 wine. Stop in college kids. Stop in downtown IC residents. (And get a RedCard. So, so worth it.)

Tiny Target in downtown Iowa City is best Target a college kid could want. Open, airy and filled with all the things one would need from a full sized Target without all the extra crap you wouldn't be able to afford or actually need. This Target is set up to cater to the in and out shopper - need some booze - check. Need some laundry detergent - check. Need some fresh fruit or a quick snack - or have the munchies from extra curricular activities which often makes one crave salty snacks - well you are in luck - this Target has a few aisles dedicated to such processed treats. Think of it this way - it is all the stuff you could order online for household needs - but located steps away from campus. Absolutely no parking so prepare to walk. And don't think about shoplifting - highly profitable items are tagged - there is security at the door and cameras everywhere. Welcome Tiny Target - we are glad you have arrived.
