First rental car experience and it went very well. Very friendly service. Even gave me options on vehicles. VW Tiguan was a great ride especially since I ended up driving in a bad storm.

Trey is a rockstar. I rent Alamo all the time and needed help with getting a bigger vehicle because I was in a smaller vehicle and he’s able to put me in one right away without any issues. The young man is very professional and courteous and definitely definitely an asset to the company. Took care of all our needs. Thanks Trey

If you want to save time, go somewhere else. They lied to us about an upgrade. They only charged us $250 extra for space. & the vehicle was the same. We called several times and had no call back, but there was bad customer service. They keep saying they will call back and never did. Save your time and money and go somewhere else. Definitely do not recommend it.

I am being nice by giving two stars. I am taking into account the caucuses and winter storm. My flight got in after the agency closed. I came back the next morning to get car soon after they opened. The staff was slow and being rude to customer in front of me. When it was finally my turn I was told there were no cats available and they did not have an ETA. I have just under 2 hours to make it to a funeral an hour away.Luckily avis/ budget was very helpful.Pricing isn't everything

I travel back and fourth for work have been renting vehicles from Alamo for almost a year. Ent experience was usually pleasant. However from time to time I always run into a certain man who’s told me he is the manager. He always try’s to charge me a $300 deposit however no one else ever has. I understand that when you’re an incoming traveler with a return flight there isn’t a deposit required. If you’re not then a $300 deposit is required (this was told to me by customer service). He keeps telling me the deposit policy was implemented July 1, 2023. However I’ve rented cars from this same location since then and wasn’t charged a deposit. Even after my initial encounter with him two weeks later when I came back in town I rented a car twice and didn’t pay a deposit. I return to Iowa today and begin to check in for my reservation the employee helping me looks over at him and he makes a face and all of a sudden I get hit with the deposit script again. After I just rented in September and didn’t pay a deposit. I’m done with Alamo all together at this location. This caused an issue with my work schedule for my time here this week. The last time he did this I missed an important meeting and was placed on temporary probation at my job. Thank you to Kyle who is always a great help his customer service and support has always been grade A since the beginning. However this other guy I’m over it. I won’t keep risking it. I emailed my boss and had to put in a request not to be sent anymore assignments in Des Moines. Its one thing if you’d like to see my flight itinerary for verification which they’re allowed to ask but he never even bothers. It’s starting to feel discriminatory at this point. What’s even more crazier is my colleague rented right after I left and they didn’t ask him for a deposit. Luckily my company cut my assignment down a couple days so I can ride with my colleague and return the same day as him.

No common sense. I show up to rent a vehicle I've already paid for. I realize I don't have my license with me (I do have a picture of it but not accepted) so they won't allow me to rent it. I completely understand that part of it.My wife is with me, so she is going to be our driver instead. We continue through the paperwork and the attendant says they need a credit card on file for incidentals. I give her my credit card and she says she can't accept it because it has to be in my wife's name because she is the driver. I respond, that's weird, but ok. My wife only has her debit card on her so she gives them that. The attendant responds, we can't accept debit cards...So they won't rent us the vehicle we've already paid forSo, 1) a reservation is already paid in full, 2) I have a credit card ready to give them that they can't accept because it's in my name who made the reservation, not my wife's and 3) they can't accept my wife's debit card.I then ask to ensure they are going to refund us since they aren't allowing us to rent a vehicle, and I can't get a clear answer.

Horrible experience with Alamo rental from the Des Moines Airport. Lost an entire day of my vacation due to car troubles. Have been using Alamo for the past 10 years every time I travel. Rude employees at this location, and poorly maintained vehicles.. sad to say I may have to start looking for a new company to rent from when I travel.

Gecompenseerd in kosten.

We were bringing our daughter to college. Our flight from Charlotte was late..didn’t arrive until after 1 am.But to mine and my family’s surprise, we’ll, rather disappointment, the Alamo counter was closed. Was told by some workers at the Avis counter they left at 11.While we weren’t the only ones to arrive at the counter only to realize they were closed, we also had two kids with us. It behooves me to try to rationalize why a CAR RENTAL place isn’t open 24 hours in an AIRPORT that I was told is open 24 hours.A good business would have someone there to ensure that would be there, even into the wee hours of the morning, just to ensure that their customers who have PAID AHEAD OF TIME, actually receive the service paid for.Alamo, moving forward will be the last company I will ever rent from again. Period!!!

Vacation was great until I lost the keys to the rental car.Called Alamo and they had the car towed. The next day I called the Alamo at Des Moines airport, where I rented the vehicle, and talked to Enid. She was able to get us another car, Enterprise picked us up at our hotel and took us to their office for a replacement vehicle. The people at Enterprise were waiting for us and had the car ready. We were able to get home on time and no fuss. Adrian and Kyle were super helpful when I dropped the car off. Thank you so much all of you.Customer service is not dead in the Midwest.

They couldn't find the keys that I returned. And I tried to call him back. I couldn't reach anyone. I emailed and no correspondence so hopefully they found them. Poor communication

RENT FROM AVIS, IT IS CHEAPER ANYWAY.DO NOT RENT FROM ALAMO.My wife rented a vehicle from this location to drive to California for a travel nursing contract. She needed the vehicle longer than we thought and she spoke with the representatives at this location about extending it.We were told to expect the total to cost about $2000 in total charges. When we returned the vehicle it was over double that amount. The amounts that were charged steadily increased until they were well over double what we were quoted. When returning the car I asked the representative if it was an issue to return it to an Enterprise location because they were owned by the same company and I was assured that this would not be an issue. The representative forgot to mention that I would be charged an extra $400 "Concession Recovery Fee" for not returning it directly to Alamo. The receipt does not elaborate on what the main charges are or why they increased so dramatically. With charges like this you would think they would have a more detailed layout of the charges. The whole situation seemed very underhanded.Terrible business.Terrible customer service. It's disconcerting that a business would so blatantly take advantage of someone who used their service. A woman who took a job across the country, away from her family, so that we could make ends meet. It's absolutely despicable.Go somewhere else and save yourself the headache.
