I called the credit department to inquire about an error on my account reported to the credit bureau. The girl that answered the phone said she would look into it, but due to the “weather” outside it might take her 2 days to do so. She continued to say it was unlikely she would be able to do anything (creditors are directly responsible for reporting to agencies). Very shocking to call a credit department and talk to someone this uneducated about credit and credit bureaus.

I am posting this so hopefully someone at the Davenport HQ reads it. Von Maur used to be very service oriented. Today, I was at the Ann Arbor location and the sales lady asked if I needed help. The pants were marked down and almost every size but mine was there. When I asked if she could see if they were available elsewhere she said she could not access them on the computer because they have been marked down but she interceded that they would be a great buy to me! How is that if they are not my size? She also said they can't call other stores now even though you could hear a pin drop for the lack of customers at this location. I miss the old Von Maur that would do anything for a sale i.e. look up sale items regardless of markdowns on the computer and have them sent to your local Von Maur. Von Maur should realize that when you go to pick up these items, you most likely end up spending more money since you are back in the store. Also, the ridiculous Processing Fees being added onto many sale items on line sometime makes the sale price greater than the original price! Maybe you should consider dropping these fees provided people spend a certain threshold in one transaction such as $35 or whatever amount. Von Maur is hurting itself with these changes and makes people like me reluctant to patronize it. Again, please consider these points and bring back the old Von Maur!

Complained a couple times about a particularly immature and troubled salesperson (the guy in men's suits) in their Fort Wayne store who kept staring and talking about us because we were a gay couple. Their solution was to push it down to the store manager. The manager did not deal with the problem because the next time we went to the store we got more of the salesperson's unfriendly and cavalier attitude. After a couple of emails to the corporate office, I finally told them that I would not shop at that store again. Their solution was merely to acknowledge receipt of my email and not take corrective action. My feelings of being ticked off ultimately turned to amusement once I considered I was being looked down upon by a person who works in a clothing store without a dime to their name.

Just another average retail experience. Nothing special about it but high prices. I mean they do have quality clothing and name brands but now a days. Just be smart and look out for the real deals. Because this place rarely ever has any. And when they mark stuff down it was already listed at a high price so not really a mark down!!

DO NOT accidentally send back a “non returnable” item. I received a package and no where on the receipt did it say “final sale” and there was a return label in the package as well so I figured returning the product was fine… I just contacted customer service because the returned package was delivered last month, but there was no return on my account yet. I was told my only option was to pay a $15 fee for them to ship the jeans back to me, or else they keep the jeans AND my money?? Store credit is not even an option?? No one even contacted me about my “final sale” return when it delivered, they were just going to keep the item?? That’s terrible. I’ve been shopping at Von Maur for almost 20 years now (I’ve spend SO much money and time there) I currently live in AZ and I STILL shop online at Von Maur all the time. No more. You lost my business to Nordstrom, who does not have all these stupid rules and stipulations.

Non-customer friendly online website. Difficult to impossible to correct gift packaging options. Customer service phone line not available after 4:30 pm; call the next day and you will be told sorry, your order has been processed and there is nothing that can be done. Well, I am done using their online service.Happy to say that Van Muar reached out to me and exceeded my expectations and made changes to my packaging and shipped them without any delay!
