First off I want to start by saying I LOVE Downtown Indy. However the state of the city with its homless situation is absolutely CRAZY and past out of control. I work Downtown and had plans on moving here but now it feels very unsafe. Some of the experiences and things I've seen is jaw dropping, scary and sad at the same time. To watch the authorities completely ignore the blatant law breaking and harassment of people is unbelievable. If I was asked what rating I gave this city a year ago, I would've quickly said 5 stars without having to think about it. I pray that next year things get better for our beautiful city.

This is my love letter to downtown Indy. I'll confess, I'm biased... I live, work and play downtown. I've lived in downtown Indy for ten years now. Growing up as a farm girl, I never would have imagined how drawn I would be to living in the hustle and bustle of the city. It's the charming historic neighborhoods, the friendly biz owner faces, parks and city skyline that did me in. Oh, and how could I forget walkability? It's hard to beat the energy of living downtown all while having nature easily accessible 15 minutes away. A few of my favorite downtown spots include the classic Monument Circle with Lady Victory standing proud, the Cultural Trail weaving through our downtown districts, the views from parking garage rooftops (trust me) and the communal vibes of our coffee shops like Calvin Fletcher's, Coat Check, and more. My hope is that by reading this you'll remember your favorite spots downtown and go support them - today. If we want to see our city like we remember it from pre-COVID, we have to show up. With no big conventions in sight and only 25% of the workforce pouring into the buildings daily, it's on us as locals to choose the moms and pops stores over big box or drive-thru chains. These little daily decisions add up and make a difference. The heart of our city needs us now more than ever. Let's show up.
