s never had experience with this rare disease so just to examine her eyes and determine this is the disease is maddening, her autoimmune tests all came back normal... So why not test for more? Then when they get the biopsy after 2 years of being treated for this rare disease, the test is negative for that and positive for cancer! Then they refer her to a doctor at the university of chicago who isn't even an ocular oncologist. When I called the university of Chicago they recommended I call northwestern. Then because she found an ocular oncologist and made an appointment there, they charge her 25.00 for her chart cause she's not going to the doctor that isn't an ocular oncologist but someone who really just specializes in removing eyes. I would not go here!!! I would avoid this doctor and get a second opinion... avoid LTF as well cause they started the ball rolling on this misdiagnosis. This cancer is treatable off caught early enough and this doctor messed around with medicine that never worked, watched her eyes get worse and watched the mass nearly engulf her eye before her decided to biopsy. 2 years with cancer and they wasted time on a misdiagnosis and never once thought this patient is getting worse... maybe it's not what we originally thought. If you want to keep your eyes. Avoid.

Would not recommend Dr. Gross. Have headaches all the time after his surgery. He said the headaches were not caused from surgery. I
do not normally have headaches. It's been several months since the surgery & everyday I have a headache. Not a good bed side manor either.

This is top-notch care, Dr. Jeff Nelson, and a wonderful staff. When I was 79, I lost sight in my left eye due to an autoimmune disease called GCA. Not too many physicians had ever heard of this. When I first went to this office at age 80, in 2020, I knew I was in good hands. The office is busy, but I have never felt pushed around or rushed; it is really professional, kind, and efficient. One day, Dr. Nelson said to me..."I'm just an ophthalmologist. You need to see a neuro-opthalmologist too." Not too many Doctors would say that. That showed me this terrific doctor cared more about me than his ego. I think he is the best I have seen in my 83 years. He takes care of my husband as well. All the gals that assist and work at the front desk are patient-oriented ~!! I would give him 10 stars.

I had to get surgery on both of my eyes, and I'm amazed at how good I can see. I was very nervous about the surgery and
Dr. Gross and his staff were so kind and concerned. I had the best experience I could have imagined.

The front desk staff, exclusively, Jill, (Merrillville office) is absolutely awesome! She went above and beyond to rectify a prescription issue my mom had, so I would like to thank her personally for being a proficient and compassionate employee who puts the patient first! Thank you so much, Jill, for all that you do!

First time patient. Just moved to area. Thought I had a retina detaching. They got me in quickly. Office staff, friendly, efficient. Got in on time. Dr. Nelson is excellent. Takes time to explain things to you , no rushing to get to next patient. Great group highly recommend

Dr Nelson couldn't have been more disinterested during my appointment with him when I tried to discuss the rare eye condition I have. He just wanted to do his routine exam like he does with everyone else and refused to treat me as an individual. It was apparent then that he knew little of my condition. Total waste of time going to see him. Thought maybe I could avoid a trip to Rush University in Chicago. I should have known better. Going to stick with the doctors at Rush who are very knowledgeable.

From the time I walked into the office I was greeted by an upbeat happy and professional staff. All the tests were done thoroughly and quickly and I was put in exam room. I don't think it was even 5 minutes before Dr. Gross came in with his assistant. When performing tests he was citing observations and his Assistant made notations. I asked questions while he examining and he said "you have something else going on here which I will explain". He very thoroughly kindly explained that I had a good size cataract on the lens but also a vein occlusion which was bleeding into my eye. He went on to say I have to see a retina specialist, he will inject but he may want cataract removed first. If so we will do that first. He answered all my questions and put me at ease. From there I was taken to the next room where ALL of my future appointments were scheduled at one time by Beverly who made sure I understood what the procedures entailed.Over all an amazing experience. Previously I had gone to Williams. A TON of people waiting, the assistant gave basic eye exam and dilation drops. Then you are taken to a small hot waiting area to see Dr. I waited about 1 1/2 hours before leaving. I felt so sorry for the elderly and ill patients there before me waiting over 1 1/2 hours. They gave no water, coffee, hard candy, NOTHING. Is a shame they are so GREEDY they double book and keep patients waiting for hours. Leave Williams and see Dr. Deen or Dr. Gross. They are fantastic.

The front office staff is very rude and unprofessional . The office manager Lisa is even ruder tried to tell her about the racism I’ve experienced she stated “my office would never do that “ and walked away. Seems a little fishing being that there’s no diversity in the office . How would she know ?

I find the doctors and staff to be friendly and very professional. Extremely helpful with any questions or concerns. 2 cataract surgeries completed with no issues. I was able to make an appointment quickly when I noticed a problem with my vision. Currently precautions are being taken due to covid, much appreciated.

My husband and I have gone to the facility in Merrillville for over 10 years and they are very nice and professional including the eye doctors and the staff. They have all the latest equipment to check for all eye diseases. I would highly recommend them!
