Joe and his helper showed up right on time. They were efficient and courteous as they selected the books they wanted, and they allowed me to negotiate with them over the price for my books.I'm quite satisfied with my interaction with them.

Academic Scholarly Bookstore seemed like a very dishonest bookseller at the very best: after their price gouging was caught, they removed Amazon customer review. Regarding their price gouging, this is what they had to say. Read their response below. Does it really take a million years to manually override a price "error" supposedly to have originated from the "automatic repricer"? When did the so-called automatic repricer ever become so widely used in pricing one of a kind set of used books? Did manually uploading a picture somehow triggered the automatic repricer? Why even bother to lie when such lies can be caught instantly? Could they ever do the very same thing to any of their walk-in bookshoppers: raising the penned in price by 150% on the spot they handle the book to the shopper/buyer/inquirer? Did they somehow fail to realize how offensive such price gouging really was 4 days AFTER receiving a customer complaint message?Update on 2/8/2023Turns out the owner Joe decided to pull this book off Amazon and relisted it at $79.97 on eBay, which is $20 less than the jacked up price of $99.97 on Amazon. The book was sold on 1/31/2023. See attached images from eBay.cf. ebay.com/itm/266110016018PSJoe deleted my review and comments on his facebook page multiple times, without ever admitting his highly unethical practices.

I think he scammed me..? he bought my $70 worth of books for $15. He said that it could be because new editions are coming in but when I went to amazon, they sell it 10x more. He’s nice but only sold my book there because he’s probably just making a living so he went for $15 instead of the original price. I don’t recommend.

For a college town where bookstore prices can be very over priced, crowded, or sold out of good reads, this place is the most welcoming and extremely reasonably priced store for books. Joe (the owner) is super friendly and helpful, and he pays CASH for books, especially when semesters are starting/ending at a faster and more fair way than the temporary pop-ups and big names around town.

Best deal on books in town! I received way more money selling my books here than other places around town. Super easy, super quick, will definitely come back again!

Best place in town to buy and sell books. When you sell your books there, you get cash from them, not just store credit, and always at a fair price. They also have a nice variety and selection of books to browse through.

The owner of this store pays cash for textbooks and other academic and scholarly books. (He's NOT interested in popular fiction, children's books, or encyclopedias.) I think he pays as well or better than other stores in town, and he buys more than just the books assigned for classes at Indiana University and Ivy Tech. Grad students or professors who are moving or need to downsize should consider selling their books here. He also has two rooms full of academic and scholarly books for sale at clearance prices -- normally $2/softcover and $4/hardcover.
