My father has received PT, OT and SP therapy at home post discharge from long hospital stays. Most therapists and home nurses have been professional, friendly and effective. However, we've had two physical therapists who were shockingly unprofessional and rude. I reported both incidents to their managers and can only hope that their leadership addressed the situations appropriately.I hope that Loyola leadership takes swift action to address the negative experiences which patients and family are having; Google reviews are dismal, and rating is only 1.5 out of 5 stars. Analytics seem to indicate a culture of mediocrity and neglect at Loyola Medicine Home Care and Hospice. There needs to be real change to improve patient care experience.

Timely, friendly and efficient. I think a lot of the negative reviews are re. hospice or palliative care. People don't always realize that means "end of life..." I.e. they don't take the patient to the hospital, or try to resuscitate. My mom was on home health until to the very end, when we agreed to palliative. They were always kind and compassionate.

They do not return calls. Everything in the beginning, you are lead to believe they will be there when you need help; Forget it, weekends especially. The decision maker is the hospice nurse on the patient account. Her responsibility is to keep all costs down so they burden the family to take care of the dying patient. The hospice nurse stays 20 minutes, listens to the heart, takes the blood pressure reading and leaves. Your dying family member gets a visit from the hospice nurse 2 days per week, no weekends. Everything your dying family member needs has to be approved by the hospice nurse and then ordered. I guess the hospice nurse receives bonus pay by keeping the dying patient from being admitted to the hospital. All the hospice nurse tells you to go and pay for private home healthcare.

They were horrible at managing my moms pain. In her last days she suffered. And a sister in Christ also suffered.
