If you read Emily’s review, I was roommates with her, so ditto everything she said. If you live here expect every aspect to be awful. No communication in an appropriate manner, dirty landlord, rude, random people all giving different information for the same things, and be sure to read you lease because they will claim things are there that aren’t and blame you for anything. DO NOT LIVE HERE. Apartments themselves aren’t awful besides thinner than paper walls (I could hear both my neighbor and her person on a zoom call word for word.. multiple times). Don’t expect anything besides the bare minimum in every aspect of these apartments. I’ve lived in 4 apartments at ISU between undergrad and grad school and these were the worst by far.

Do not sign here. These people scam students for their money by lying and twisting the lease to manipulate their renters. Communication is worse than bad. You cannot get anything in writing no matter how hard you try. I’ve talked to 4 different people about the same problem and got a different answer from each one. All communication is done by phone call (all random phone numbers each time) and they will not email you or give you prior notice to almost anything. I moved in and within 24 hours they changed the locks (without notice) for the whole building. They never returned my phone calls or issued me a new key so I literally did not have a functioning key for the entirety of my lease. The landlord only cares about money and will hold anything against you to get it. Getting your security deposit back is like pulling teeth - do not hesitate to remind him of his legal responsibilities as a landlord, as that is the only way you’ll get a response from him (bitter and threatening as it is). If you complain to him about any of these wrongdoings, he will twist the narrative to make it your fault. Maintenance requests do not get fulfilled, let alone acknowledged. They require rent payments a month prior to your lease start so “you don’t have to pay rent your last month” but proceed to charge you rent in the last month and beyond the end of your lease. I could go on and on, but I’ll end by saying this place is a joke and the landlord is crooked. Rent at The Social across the street if you want a proper management company with above board practices

Slum landlord (Terry) only cares about payment. He doesn’t repair things on time if at all. Also will move in a complete stranger without knowledge of the current tenants. He is also dishonest and disrespectful when confronted. He even told a young lady that experienced threats of physical harm that he wouldn’t do anything to correct the situation he caused by moving in a stranger. Beware - rent elsewhere. He doesn’t care about the students safety but only getting the deposit and payments.

I have lived at The Park since May 2023. To begin, the unit we were shown was way nicer than the one we were given. I decided to give it time and discuss things with the maintenance men and Morgan. The tenants who lived here previously destroyed this unit. Of course that isn’t on the owners but we are in October now and still have things that aren’t fixed. We were supposed to get new laundry doors months ago and have heard nothing. When I ask about it I get unclear answers and little to no help. I have lived with first site and young america and have never experienced such inconsistent communication. Unless you want to take care of the previous tenants issues on your own, I wouldn’t live here.

The Park is one of the best places to stay here in Normal. My experience with the management team as well as with the maintenance team has been nothing but positive. Maintenance is always quick to answer any service requests you put in and are very friendly. Management is always available when you need them to be and makes it a priority to treat you like a human being, which is a lot more than other large rental conglomerates in the area can do.I am currently staying in a 2 bedroom unit, and the unit is amazing. The bedrooms are spacious, the kitchen is huge, and all the units have exterior utility doors, which means you don't have to worry about maintenance barging in to change your furnace filter!Overall, I would highly recommend staying here. This place rocks.

Good luck trying to have any sort of successful communication with management. Unresponsive to phone calls and online inquiries. Makes appointments for showings then doesn’t show up without even the courtesy of a phone call to cancel!I can’t speak about the apartments themselves but based off my initial interaction or lack thereof with them, I would definitely recommend spending your money elsewhere!

Be careful! Haven't returned my security deposit in over 80 days despite it being IL state law to return it 45 days... beware if you want your deposit back
