This review is about VW of Palatine Service only. I had very bad experience with Mike and one of their mangers. Took my car for trans fluid change, as they suggested.
Paid $310 for it and the car ran great for a day. Called back and dropped off, they kept it for a whole day and didn’t even bother to call me to give me an update. Of course they told me there was no problem.
Even though they told me that there was nothing wrong, the car started to act different after 2nd visit. I took my car to a mechanic that I trust. Described the symptoms.
He took it for a test drive.
He says that what I described to him, may sound like the dealer didn’t fill the fluid to proper level and that’s what they did the second time around, that is why the car stared acting different . My mechanic is checking on it and seems that the lack of knowledge on the dealership part by not filling the fluid may have damaged something. I may have to rebuild the trans.
Next, I am calling my card to dispute the transaction. Filed a complaint with VW.
They also scratched my freshly painted hood.
By the way, when I was there another customer came by and told them that they did an oil change and she started to notice oil on her driveway. Don’t know what happen there but didn’t sound good either.
PLEASE STAY AWAY from their service if you don’t want end up spending more afterwards.
The manager’s comment was that they can put anew trans and I pay for it.

Erik Cernas was the sales rep handling the sale of my car, an Arteon. He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the car features. He has a great attitude and even services his clients after the sale! For instance, he installed my license plates over a month after the sale and handled any questions I had about the electronics. I would highly recommend Erik and VW of Palatine.

Beware! Volkswagen of Palatine is a ripe off. Keep away from Mike, Andrew and Paul. Their hungry sharks that will bite a big hole in your pocket. I was quoted and guaranteed one price $750 even having used my own car warranty. After 2 months I finally got my car back and I was charged $1,500 double the price. That’s not all, they loose my car keys. My car battery died and they made me purchase a new one at my own expense which was an additional $200. If not, I had to tow my car home at my expense. I was so flabbergasted and just wanted to get the hell out of there. Please stay away from this location you’ll be saddened by their services. They made it my burden not theirs. No explanation or apology for their actions. Worst service ever!

I scheduled an appointment for an oil change and noted that the center dashboard bench slider had broken off. I did end up running 15 minutes late for my appointment, which is by my own fault.
When I arrived, the service rep quickly came up to my car, got in the vehicle and informed me that he needed to hurry up and get the car back because they needed to leave. Again, somewhat understandable as I did show up late.
Unfortunately, when I left the dealer, I had a check engine light on and the service rep didn’t even mention rescheduling the air-conditioning vent repair even after I brought it up.
Normally, this wouldn’t be that big of a deal but the last time I came in to get weatherstripping repaired around my driver side door. They told me they can’t do it because it’s too sticky around the area. I’m still on sure what that meant but again I felt rushed, and as though they were just brushing off the issues.
Charlene has been my service rep since before the dealership moved to a new location. She was not the service rep who assisted me the last two times. (This most recent time included.) She has been stellar.
Before the move and assuming under new management they were my go to dealership in the entire state of Illinois superb service and they really made you feel like family.
Since the relocation, i’ve been extremely reluctant to make extra drive there to get my vehicle serviced. I’ve owned five Volkswagens in the last 10 years and let’s just say I don’t buy the car for the dealership or service department experience. I’ve had during the last 10 years. But, if this is a reflection of how Volkswagen now treats it’s customers, I’d be more than happy to take my business elsewhere from now

Service is always excellent. Communication regarding parts, price, and service has always been detailed and straightforward. They consistently check to see if parts and service are under warranty or part of the care plan I previously purchased for the vehicle.
