So, I'm not in the habit of writing negative reviews. I will here, though. This insurer is dangerously incompetent. Let me explain how I went from paying customer of 12 years to uninsured motorist over the course of numerous preventable mistakes.
1) Bought a new car. There was some mistake in the transfer, and my insurance went from autopay to manual pay. Not a huge problem in itself, standard office mistake.
2) My insurance policy goes unpaid - no one successfully alerted me of this. OK, now this is in 'serious problem' territory.
3) My insurance policy is canceled - no one successfully alerted me of the cancellation, despite having my phone number on hand. Again, customer of 12 years, you'd think it would merit a call or text.
4) I needed emergency roadside assistance months later - the phone operators had no idea who I was. Luckily, I wasn't in an accident where either my fiance or I were injured, which could have left me financially ruined.
5) Adding insult to injury - I call the office to re-set my insurance. I liked doing business with State Farm, and I don't like switching insurers. My rate increased from $250 to $1250. The local agent was even kind enough to inform me that the price would probably be bad at their competitors, because I had been driving uninsured. Talk about salt in the wound!
There you have it. I am now happily insured by a State Farm competitor at around $300. I don't appreciate being left uninsured, and I doubly don't appreciate having my rate massively hiked above the going market rate.

I cancelled my policy a month ago and spoke with an agent on the phone who guaranteed my auto pay would be cancelled. Well my auto pay ran and it's nearly impossible to get ahold of or get a callback from somebody. A girl answered and said I would get a callback after my agents meeting. That was my second call of the day. I received no callback. I haven't even lived in IL in 4 weeks.
If they do the right thing and reverse payment I will respond to this review.

Bernie and his staff are great professionals and people, I had the opportunity to work in that office for a couple of years and I learn the real value and the best practice of customer service. I would recommend Bernie to all Gurnee because he is truly 'Bernie from Gurnee' and 'For Gurnee'
