I stopped in briefly, and on my way out I stopped at the jewelry counter. I asked to see a three rings. She took the rings out but would only allow me to hold one at a time. I was not allowed to compare two at the same time. I told her I get it, you don't want me to steal. She stresses to me she is just doing her job. To which I reply, I get it you don't want me to steal. It is okay. And she persists to tell me the cameras are watching. And once again I acknowledge to her she does not want me to steal.
I asked if she had the tool jewelers use to look at stones closely. I didn't remember the name in the moment I asked her, so I stressed it is the tool gemologists use to magnify a stone, to inspect it. I asked because I wanted to be able to read the hallmarks inside the ring band. Also, if I cant steal all three what is the point. It's all or nothing.
She puts back two of the rings, before turning around to look for a tool. She pulls out a magnifying glass, turns to me shows it to me and asks me, "is english not your first language?"
I told her I wasn't asking for a magnifying glass, which does not work for the tiny marking on the ring. But iPhone camera as usual does the trick. Yes the ring was real gold.
AND I WAS THINKING OF A JEWELERS LOUPE.
To the manager of T.J. Maxx Evanston, please give a paper dictionary and thesaurus to your jewelry counter employee, she lacks education.
And thank you for the bathroom. I just stopped in to use it on my cycling route. It is convenient considering how close it is to the North Shore Channel trail.

The everything store. Wide aisles, Well-Stocked shelves, and fair pricing. The employees are knowledgeable.
Everything is ADA compatible. The bathrooms are on the lower level, reached by a short ramp. Free parking in their lot.

They were not very clear on their bird policy. It was very stuffy and the atmosphere was stale. The vibes were off, to say the least. My emotional support bird Larry did not like their shirt selection.
