Love this gym. Clean, lots of machines. Not crowded. Should have more class options. Good location. I wish someone would post the prices of personal training.

Regret even considering leaving Lifetime Fitness to try out LA Fitness!!!! Homeless people sitting in lobby. 1/2 of the TVs not working. My treadmill turned off every 60 seconds unless I pressed "enter" while running 8mph. Steroid and crime warnings in locker room. No towels. Barely any machine disinfectant. Bad vibe and crowd. Never returning to this location as long as it exists.

I like this gym. Maybe it's just because of how horrendous the Edgewater location is, but this gym has all of the machines I need & the staff is so pleasant so it's worth the drive.I wish there was a little more room for weight lifting and that the personal training room could be utilized when trainers aren't having sessions.

LA Fitness in Evanston is not taking the mask mandate seriously. The Evanston Health Department told me they have received numerous complaints.

They are not enforcing Covid protocols. When i would work out it is not uncommon for 1/3 or more of the clients to not be wearing masks. I've spoken to the staff requesting a mask check snd been ignored. I've stopped my workouts due to safety concerns.

Dangerous place. I was sitting down and a tattooed man threatened to kill me because I was sitting by a bag lady sleeping. The staff is incompetent and the police had to intervene because they don't have security. The corporate policy is hands off to protecting customers and they don't care about the mask mandate despite being fined. The place is a tragedy/nightmare waiting to happen

If I could give a zero rating I would. H-E-L-L-O, the Covid virus is still alive and progressing regardless of whether we are tired of it dampening our plans ! It is a brutal reality! The patrons of LA Fitness Evanston, I would say easily 80-90% (depending on the time of day) DO NOT WEAR A MASK! It is the same patrons every time and others. I agree, it stinks to wear a mask but why risk your health and other peoples?? Maybe they think it is cool to do whatever they want even if it jeopardizes anyone else's health. It is especially bad at the back of the room where elliptical and stair stepping machines are. It is always the same people and when others flow in wearing masks they usually remove after seeing most are not wearing, Folks, the offenders are not all in their 20's and 30's, nope the old people including of course 40's-late 70's. It is truly crazy to see! Actually, it is appalling to see patrons with obvious signs of co-morbidities that being very overweight causes. I have gone to management at least 3-4x a month about this. Sometimes they will make an announcement over the speaker, other times they have addressed each patron about it. But, easily 85-90% of the time it goes on deaf ears because depending upon who is working that day is if masks are required. The weekend staff are lame and do nothing. Actually, they got upset with me for bringing it to their attention! I work in northern suburb that has awesome mask mandates at their LA Fitness so I go there every chance I have. They have 3 floors and much larger than the Evanston location (where I live 5 mins away from). On weekends, I prefer not driving 45 mins each way to work out and feel safe. If you prefer a club without any oversight rules for Covid or anything, Evanston LA Fitness is for you. One other unique feature you will quickly notice, there are several (resident) patrons (LOL) that behave like they are co-owners. They bring their music or movies without attaching their earbuds. It is blasted super loud or they sing at the highest voice volume they can muster up. When asking them to tone down nicely, they respond that they are just singing. And, of course you guessed it, they are the same patrons that do NoT wear masks. One last comment, there is a sign at all entrances and throughout the gym saying "whether or not you are vaccinated, all patrons MUST wear a mask, as per the State of Illinios department of health". I promise you that this sign is just for show. If researching a clean gym, call and ask questions before signing on to any because there are MANY gyms that take the health of their patrons seriously. As an FYI- the Evanston YMCA is an A+ example. of implementing the mask mandate and continuously cleaning the machines every hour. In summary, the LA Fitness in Evanston is one HUGE sh&t show. If you are rambunctious and enjoy living life on the edge with the thrill of risking your health (and others) ---and/or you have a screw others attitude, disrespectful to all, and could careless that your breathe and sweat droplets are spewing off onto others, this club is for you. The staff condones this, because they do absolutely NOTHING. If they point to their worthless signs, say they address noncompliant patrons and use their intercom system to announce the mask mandate, LOL! Seriously, for the people that are opposite of the low class characteristics described above...don't even bother signing up, rather run away as fast as you can! The machines need to be bleached down, the poor ventilation and air quality...the place is a scientist's bacterial project that needs at the very least fumigated. The management here needs to find a job that is better suited. So, good riddance and lots of luck LA Fitness Evanston!

I will say it's a very clean locker room. Showers could use more attention but for what I pay I don't expect a round the clock janitorial service like LifeTime. (I paid almost $100 a month there and only the hours open were worth it really) I'm a tad frustrated that towel service isn't available. I don't think Covid is the issue and for being a signature club that needs to be addressed. The pool needs to have some kind of regulation on time/sharing. I don't mind sharing lanes at all they actually have nice wide lanes. I've encountered some older members who were pretty nasty about sharing a pool with an actual swimmer and in the lane for an hour and a half. (I was informed afterwards that this was common) Also don't see why I can't wear a towel in the steam room in a an all woman section. Classes so far are excellent except one class the teacher talks politics/crime/lifestyle etc with another member EVERY-TIME its uncomfortable. If it's a "friend" then they really should be outside the room, especially if they are discussing it in full tone with a full room of people. I don't want to hear about your privilege or petty concerns 2 minutes before class as you proclaim your dissatisfactions to the member from the front of the room. It's happened at least 4 times out of the 9 classes I've been. It's a fairly small gym so it always seems busy but I always see most equipment available. As with all gyms they have peak hours so choose wisely if possible. Staff is so-so I get greeted half the time and said goodbye almost never. They seem young and preoccupied with phones or conversations. I think if you ask them to describe the last three people who came in they couldn't which is sad. If the machine is green they're good.

I went there with a guest pass. They asked for my driver's license when I went there, so I gave it to them. When I left the gym, I forgot to ask for my driver's license back. It took me a few days to notice that I was missing my driver's license because I don't normally use my driver's license. When I noticed it was missing, I called LA FItness to see if they had it. The staff member at the time said that they did! So, I went there the next day to get my driver's license. When I went there, the staff member said he had "just seen it" and that it "could be in the safe", which only the manager could open. But, the manager was not there that day, so I would have to come back another day.I was busy dealing with other things so I didn't check up on it until next week. When I called LA Fitness the next week, they informed me that the janitor or someone had "cleaned out" the drawers/safe etc. and that my driver's license was no longer there. So, I went to LA Fitness for one day with a guest pass, told me they still had my driver's license, and then threw it away. Don't go to a gym run by irresponsible and unprofessional 20-something year olds. A driver's license is a very small but valuable item. At any other place I have worked for, we would not throw away a driver's license within a week a customer had come to pick it up. It does not take up much space to store a driver's license.

I really enjoy coming to this gym my usual four days per week and start my workout routine right away, however my biggest issue is that guy that cleans the mens locker room. I can't comfortably change because he's always in the locker room pretending to "clean" and I've caught him trying to look at guy's penis or other young men like myself changing or in the shower area. The cleaning guy is a nerdy looking guy that 9 out of 10 of the time you'll find in the locker room creeping around. Most of the equipment is dirty out there, maybe management needs to talk to him about spending more time cleaning the workout floor instead of having him spend all day in the bathrooms or locker room area. Its perverted and makes everyone feel uncomfortable and not want to come here. Watch out guys and cover your weiner when you see him "cleaning".

DIFFERENT RULES FOR DIFFERENT PEOPLE. State-wide mask mandate... but I guess not at this gym? Even though it's clearly needed due to heavy breathing/exertion. At least 60-70% of the people there are NOT wearing a mask at all. Staff don't even try to enforce it, and why should they? This is a MANAGEMENT PROBLEM. If the sign says wear a mask or you'll be refused entry, then...refuse entry to those that won't wear a mask. Otherwise, you're giving select people "special treatment" to flagrantly ignore the policy, while putting your other paying patrons and staff at risk. NOT GOOD.
