I don't know who they think they're kidding with this "boutique" nonsense, but they've sure found a way to make thrift shopping inaccessible.
I'm new to the area and despite the negative reviews I thought I'd give this place a shot. Never again. Nor will I be donating anything here. The reviews about the pricing are not exaggerated at all. Prices are as high or higher than name brand resale shops like Plato's or Clothes Mentor. A lot of things I saw were listed at basically the same price you could buy that brand brand new. And the quality/style of clothes do not match the pricing. I literally saw a basic unisex t shirt with the sleeves cut out (like the kind you mow in) for $4.99.
I was also overcharged $15 because my blue tag discount was not added, despite me asking at the register to make sure it had been discounted.

I prefer this Goodwill over Springfield only bc I live in Chatham. I do only have a couple of minor complaints. When you walk in they have a huge area of clothes, which is great. However there is no rhyme or reason in the placement of clothes. You have to search every rack to see if it has your size. You may go through ten or so racks and never even come across your size. Then the have sections labeled by item and size. However the sizes are never in the right place. Drives me up the wall. I become sometimes so frustrated I leave. Other complaint is their staff. Rude so rude. Never have I seen one smile or even available to ask a question. Just the one at the register who just stands there. Never says hi when you walk in and she doesn’t have customers. They are all very unapproachable. I do still go just there but I live in Chatham.

I hate to be this person but I feel like it’s necessary. I am avid thrifter and have had many wonderful experiences at Goodwill finding an eclectic mix of beautiful items. But recently Goodwill has inflated the items of certain items beyond reason. No shirt, pant, or dress should be over $15 at a Goodwill. I walked in today to browse and was astonished and disheartened to see that they are selling beautiful dresses for $100 that feminine people should be able to buy, regardless of their income. They also sell brands like Forever21 and SHEIN that are none for their low prices for more than whats posted on the website- not that you should ever buy from these stores in the first place.
I have noticed this inflation among several Goodwills and I want to remind other customers: THEY RECEIVE THESE PRODUCTS FOR FREE!
They are not buying $200-$300 prom dresses from anyone, they are donated, and are dumb enough to expect anyone to pay such an absurd amount. If Goodwill cares about their customer base, they would know that no one will pay such obscene prices. I am a lost customer who will find pieces elsewhere and I hope people see this review before giving their money to such a greedy company.

This store looks empty and a "For Sale" sign is at the entrance. The website doesn't list it as closed!! What happened??

I don't like giving bad reviews, and I usually don't, but I felt like maybe I should this time. I used to like shopping at this Goodwill, they get some nice items in sometimes, but there are a few things that kinda ruin it for me, especially these last couple of years:1)The prices are pretty inflated for a Goodwill. I suppose they assume to base their pricing on what they believe the surrounding neighborhood can afford. However, with the current prices, I'd expect their general inventory to be more like the items shown in the boutique section, and less like the (sometimes damaged or stained) items I see on the floor.2) The clothing selection seems to be curated based more on common interest than anything else (maybe it's the area, who knows?) but it's very easy to find 10 of the same boring style of shirt rather than the truly eclectic mix of all kinds of styles from any era you might find (or want to find) in other thrift stores. This particular store might be ok for basics -if- you have a particular modern taste, but you're highly unlikely to find anything vintage or alternative or particularly interesting here.3) Again, for the prices, the organization of the store is pretty awful and the number of faces I see while I'm here seems to indicate that they must be running terribly understaffed every day. Must be a management issue.4) I like most of the cashiers and workers fine, but whoever runs the store seems to have a serious attitude problem. There's a particular woman that I've witnessed on several accounts being extremely rude to both employees and customers alike and making the whole store a generally uncomfortable place to be. A very unnecessarily belligerent and unpleasant person.5) The hours are absurdly tight and desperately need to be extended. 7pm closing is much too early. You might not be able to make it here to shop at all on a weekday after work amidst your errands if you live in any of the surrounding areas rather than Chatham proper. If you do manage to make it, you'll likely feel very stressed and rushed to get your shopping done and leave as soon as possible. You would think everyone had set fire to their shoes because they seem to pressure their staff here to close registers as early as possible. Trust me when I say that their -actual- closing time is 20 minutes before 7, They act like it's nigh illegal for you to be in the store after that. I've seen people get angrily confronted and turned right back out the door just for showing up five minutes to closing. The woman mentioned in point 4 here will get on the intercom and remind people every few minutes and will stand by and aggressively tap her watch at you like she, for some reason, thinks you're an idiot who can't read the time. (She clearly isn't a happy person in this line of work, and for her own sanity and everyone else's needs to find a job that doesn't deal with customer service.)The coffee bar attached is literally the only thing saving this one for me at the moment. If you're looking to actually enjoy your experience, try the Goodwill in Springfield, or the Salvation Army, or various other thrift shops with a more interesting selection, better organization, nicer better management, better prices, and longer hours. I won't personally be spending in this one for a while until things improve.

I will never shop here again!!! This is the worst Goodwill I have ever visited. My mom and I love thrift shopping together, so I was so excited to see this Goodwill that looked massive on the outside. I thought this would be the ultimate Goodwill but boy was I wrong. I was immediately disappointed once entering into the store. Not only is not as big as the outside would lead to you think but it was disorganized mess. I was searching for a few pieces to complete my children's halloween costumes and spent over an hour just going through the clothes in the children’s department. They were not in order by size at all. I also noticed the prices were a lot higher than any other Goodwill I have ever visited and a lot of the clothing was missing price tags. They were charge more for used children's clothing than Once Upon a Child, a store that pays for donations and has standards on what they will accept. After 2 hours of sifting though their mess, I headed to the checkout. I was first in line and lady checking me out was painfully slow at ringing me up. She told me my total with round up to the nearest dollar came to $38. I went to swipe my debit card and she stopped me. The machine isn't working she said and so I waited for her to call for assistance. She had to call for assistance 3 times because no one came. Finally after probably 10 min of standing there a woman sauntered over from the back to help. She said she would have to ring me up at the other counter and told me that the machine doesn't work. NO apology for how long I waited...nothing. She rang me up and proceeded to tell me my total was $48. I told that wasn't right because the other lady told me it was $38. Instead of going through my order she proceeded to yell at me and basically said do you want it or not. I have never been treated so rudely. I took off a sweater just because I was angry. I wanted to throw all the clothes down and walk out but I had invested so much time looking for them. Then when I got home I realized she had charged me for the sweater anyway. I knew the total was wrong. Oh and just to top it off! I told her I was going to pay with my debit card. I swiped it on the machine and went to put my pin in. She said oh we don't take debit here and you have to use credit. Really lady, you could have said something earlier. I know I have written a novel but this was such a terrible experience. To recap if you don't want to read this, trust the reviews. This place has terrible service, it's very disorganized, and priced unreasonably.

One lady has ruined our experience both times. She was rude and rushed us out. Even when I was in line to check out she yelled at my husband for looking around because he could find something… I don’t understand. She should not be working with the public. Plain rude and absolutely disrespectful.

Whoever is pricing now has lost their mind. $3.99-5.99 for used cd’s??? $4.99 for all stuffed animals??? Just a month ago they were sold by size .99-$1.99, etc. Why should a tiny stuffed animal be the same cost as a huge one!? Did you forget that all of that stuff is given to you for free? Everything in store has gone up! Guess I went into that store for the last time. Why would prices be so different across all the central IL stores? Should change name to Greedwill!

I used to love this store, but as I have shopped this store regularly now for several years, I'm growing more dissatisfied with it all the time. 1.) Of all the GW stores in Central Illinois, this one does the worst job getting (or keeping) prices on their items. 2.) Prices are high and continue to climb to the point they often exceed "thrift" prices. 3.) Toys are almost always all over the floor. 4.) The checkout process is awful! They rarely, if ever, have more than one cashier, so lines are long and move slow. 5.) Restrooms are more frequently filthy with either no toilet paper or paper towels.Friendly advise to store management or corporate- 1.) Be sure to price all items before placing them on the shelf AND don't put prices over the makers mark on ceramics, glass, china, etc. so people won't peel them off to get the information they need. 2.) If you're going to use Google Lens and/or eBay listings to justify your price gouging, at least look at the SOLD COMPS. Listing prices seldom represent the final sale price. 3.)Pick up the toys regularly before you get sued by someone with nothing better to do. 4.) Put a second cashier on when more than 2 people are in line or all day on busy days. 5.) For the love of God, make regular bathroom checks to keep TP and PT stocked and don't forget to clean!

Brought some stuff a few minutes before the store opened. An employee was already outside getting some bags that had been left for donation. The cones were up so I asked if I could drop off my donation. Instead of a straight answer, she commented, (paraphrasing)~ Sure, If you would like us to get your license from the camera and turn it into the police for fly dumping. Charming :/
