This company sold unhealthy plants that were improperly packaged, undersized, root bound and often DEAD! They sell bare root plants that are NOT listed as such on their website. My plants arrived dried out with NOTHING to keep the roots moist. This site is a joke! They also have a horrible return policy. Don't buy from them, ever!Their return policy requires you to physically mail back any junk, dead plants at YOUR expense. When they got my return, they sent no acknowledgement of receipt whatsoever. Then after a long wait, I did get a refund but I was shorted on the proper amount. They tried to shortchange me! I caught the error & emailed them. They did nothing after TWO WEEKS of waiting. So I was forced to dispute the difference thru my credit card company. FRAUD!

I ordered 100+ dollars worth of plants and seeds. They never came. They credited me the amount I spent and then sent some plants. The plants died because it was the wrong time of year to plant them when they arrived. They changed their company name but still credited my amount so I re-ordered in February. I bought a lot of seeds hoping it would be easy to mail. Still no plants or seeds and it’s too late to plant for this year anyway. My guess is they’ll change their name again. Are they somehow connected to Burgess, Gurneys, and Michigan Bulb? Might be the same company…

Garbage plants. So much stuff dried up and died because the roots are dry and bare. Inconsistent sizes too, just pure garbage.

I wish there was an option for less than one star. I purchased $75 worth of plants last year. There was several different types of plants in the order and they all arrived dead. They would only do an in-store credit as everything I had ordered had already sold out. So this year I ordered early and they are one month behind their estimated ship date. When I asked why the shipment has been delayed so badly, they told me they just want to make sure that they only ship out quality products. Everything I've seen of this place is poor quality and delays. I will never order from them again.

I have to say one star is too much! Initially, plants were sent with FedEx smart post arriving in 2 weeks dry and almost dead. Luckily or not, but we were able to reanimate them. Now, after thee years of growing and the first year with fruits our ordered "Stanley dwarf plum" is full of peaches! I contacted the company and they replied that they guarantee only 10 month that a plum tree will remain a plum tree. They totally refused to offer any assistance with the situation. Be safe. Never order any plants from them.

They tried sending new plants and 4 out of six have lived. I guess that's some improvement from the dead plants they sent to me a year earlier. Time involved to get a resolution and feedback and response was horrible. 1 full year? I'll have to see loads of 5 star reviews before I might try them again.

Ordered 75 Lavender bushes. They came dry rooted in plastic bags with bugs in them. I planted them and kept watered as needed. They looked dead when they arrived and stayed that way all summer. Not one lived. I wanted my money back and THEN found out they don't do that. I got a certificate to order more. Don't think I will do that.

I ordered 10 Pampas Grass plants in August 2022. None of the plants survived and Direct Gardening refused a refund of my money. I suggest you shop a different website for your plants.

I went to look at the Marque green seedless grape vines that I ordered two years ago, I knew there was a small bunch growing. Imagine my surprise when I saw that the grapes were turning purple. I opened one up and it was loaded with seeds. They were NOT green and NOT seedless. Two growing seasons wasted. Upon searching these reviews, I saw someone else had the same experience. DO NOT buy anything from this horrible horrible company. I should have known better than to order anything from an Illinois company.

I would give them zero, if I could. I placed an order and my items were to shipped separately, no problem. I was billed immediately for all items, again not a big deal (most companies charge when they ship). After a couple of weeks my first set of plants shipped. They sat in a Fed Ex warehouse for 4 days with no movement. I reached out to customer service. No answer on the phone. I emailed them, again no response. My plants finally arrived. The phlox was dead and the 3 hostas were just 3 bags of dirt. I immediately tried to call them and again there was no one who answered the phone. I emailed to tell them about the one box of plants and inquire about my 2 lilac trees. I did finally get an email from someone saying my lilacs were going to ship soon. They did arrive and were packed to survive. They are flourishing now. For an online company dealing with live plants, they have horrible customer service and clearly some employees just throw plants in a box and ship. I would not ever buy from them again and would not recommend anyone to buy from them!

I ordered a Stuttgart canna lily and it's gorgeous. I only ordered one because the reviews weren't very good but look at this beauty. I want a Busa Florida banana plant but I'm too afraid to spend that amount of money. This is the alternative and I already have a forest of other canna lilies so I was confident I could grew this one too.

I ordered 5 fruit trees. I received an email one was backordered, and was not able to be fulfilled because it was the end of season. One of my others was dead upon arrival, but after contacting them I was refunded. The others are doing wonderful. The only issue I can see with them is using fed ex as their carrier.

I should have read the reviews first. Bought three sassafras trees barefoot. All three were dead sticks with only one hair of a root on each (no roots). Buy somewhere else and read the reviews, they are correct. Scammers

I ordered a seasonal shade garden and only a few plants came up the first year. The second, nothing. The third year the hosta decided to come up and looks small but healthy. Everything else is dead. The root fragments they sent were so small. It's no wonder they died. I ordered some live mums and they arrived alive and green, but when I planted them with other mums purchased locally, they died while the other mums thrived. I'm not sure what this company does to kill plants. But it all dies. I've given them multiple chances, thinking perhaps it was just me somehow. But the only thing I've ever had grow successfully was a pack of creeping phylox.
