Magnificent place located by the sea. Quiet, clean and well located. We saw turtles there several times. We recommend!

What a hidden gem to find! After having to change our reservation 5 days before landing on island, we were amazed at this place. Quiet, relaxing, easy beach access, great snorkeling, turtles every day, very few people, sunrises over Haleakala and sunsets looking toward West Maui... So many compliments for this place!

3 miles of bach to walk. Close to the ocean with beautiful views early morning and as the moon rises. Quiet and serene.

Makani A Kai is a lovely little condo community with beautiful tropical gardens throughout. The neighboring public park can get loud, at all hours from time to time. But the space we were in was very safe and pleasant. The pool is a wonderful break from the ocean waves. And yet, the waves produce a wonderful beach setting. The snorkeling off the shore is descent, and there are turtles that swim about each evening. The location of these condos is great... Central to everything else on the island and away from the traffic in Kihei.

Very noisy from before 8 am to after 8pm, next Appartement is bering renovated. Mould in the coffemachine, toilet smelling very bad, lots of local kids playing in the privat pool, often no parking space available as told.... Very disappointed, not worth the money, local agent does not reply!!!

My wife and I stayed in this unit for a week in August. Thankfully there was an AC since it was so hot. Unfortunately the AC was in the living room, forcing us to supercool that room to get the bedroom reasonably comfortable. The queen sized bed was uncomfortable, and I purchased a pillow since those provided were very soft and flat. The pull-out sofa bed was horribly uncomfortable. The furnishings are adequate, and some upgrades have been done in the last decade. The unit needs general maintenance and deeper cleaning (cracked and mildewed bathroom tiles/grout, dusty portable fan that runs but doesn't circulate air, cobwebs hanging from the ceilings, spotted mirrors, and furniture pads that have fallen off). One afternoon the AC cover loudly crashed onto the floor: the filter was badly damaged and filthy. Both the AC and refrigerator are very loud, enough to interfere with sleeping. My wife teased me about bringing hangers which I should have done as there was only one. Bath and beach towels were provided, along with a small sampling of soaps and shampoos. There is an outside lanai with a table and two chairs. This particular unit, A8, is located farthest from the beach and across from a beach park (along with loud people, music, and cars). This necessitated keeping the doors closed to minimize noise. In essence, however, this didn't matter because the condo is poorly constructed and one can hear noise from the outside, upstairs and side neighbors. Doors slamming, furniture being dragged, people running back and forth, and loud conversations. This complex has a small beach when it's not high-tide, but not for sitting on unless you wish to be in the surf. There is a grassy area between the complex and the beach with only one tree for shade. There are lounge chairs available to use. Next door at the beach park is a better beach, bringing large crowds on the weekends. This unit's kitchen was well-stocked with dishes, pots and pans, and small appliances, all of which worked adequately. I was surprised to find there wasn't a garbage disposal, which would have been less of an issue if more than one trash bag had been provided (in Hawaii one doesn't want to leave food in the garbage). It was concerning to find mouse traps beneath the sink. The unit was roomy and tastefully decorated. The parking lot offers one space and it can be tight. There is a coin-operated laundry with the washers costing $2 and the dryer a quarter each 10 minutes (one load cost $4.50). There is a very small pool that mainly small children use. The complex is approximately 40 years old and some units have been maintained better than others. The booking fees through Agoda and the management company Vacasa nearly doubled the cost, and we won't be returning to this overpriced uncomfortable and noisy condo.

Great beach access, decent saltwater pool, and well furnished condo. There is a public park with beach access right next to the complex, which frequently had people hanging out and blasting music into the evening (usually leave by dark). The complex is also directly under the flight path for the airport so you get planes flying low overhead all day and night. Maalaea is a little remote, but in 20 mins you can be pretty close to quite a few towns.

My favourite place to stay in Maui have been here with my family at least twice. Always very nice community and the location is just brilliant!

Everything was totally awesome! The beach was gorgeous. There was even good snorkel equipment in the condo, and with a bit of coral right out front, the snorkeling was awesome! There are lots of sea turtles that hang out in the water by the coral. There's a printer, so you can print your airline tickets the day before your flight! When the printer ran out of ink, he even came and replaced it right away....

Wonderful beach front access in a quaint little area tainted slightly by insufficient provisions. Sliding glass door to the patio is horridly out of date, making it difficult to open. Soap in the bathroom was watered down to the point of being unusable. We were informed the place slept 6, but the hide a bed in the couch had no pillows, no sheets, and a terrible mattress. The area it is located in is close only to beach access, the aquarium, and a small family fun center. If you plan on shopping or seeing the sights, prepare for a pretty decent drive. This would be a wonderful place to stay if you only plan on relaxing beach side.

Bruce and Amy have remodeled their condo for ADA access. Rarely have I ever been to a place where the owners have modified a condo taking into consideration all the little things (Universal Design). My wife and I won't need to look anywhere else. We had our finest vacation EVER. I can't say enough about our accommodations. Our vacation has great memories. (SCI C5 quadriplegic.)
