“It located less than eight miles from the Kona International Airport. Drove south along HI-19 Queen Ka'ahumanu Highway then right turned at HI-190 Palani Road. Opened daily from 6am to 9pm. Besides groceries, it offered many ready-to-eat food items as well. The cashier was very friendly and professional.”

“Cash Only (at least at the time I was there). Wide selection of grocery items but small options per item. Enough to cook meals or quick go to things. Perfect place for the local visitors. Great customer service!”

“Love the convenient location in Kaloko Industrial area and right by Costco. It's a cute little shop with always friendly and helpful staff. There lots of product, and, of course, all plant based. The only con would be prices are a bit high.”

“I am not too surprised about the prices here. It is HUH-VAI-EEE. Place is clean and decent selection. Standard Bakery stuff. Bought a salad that was good. It looks smalls in the photo but had two chicken breasts in it. I was stuffed.”

“Hit the Safeway when we first landed because KTA was closed, but was so happy to patronize the KTA afterwards. Amazing poke bar, amazing local prepared foods. And oh so much spam. Great beer selection as well as Japanese snacks. This store makes me happy.”

“Overpriced but not as overpriced as Foodland Waimea. Also very nice cashier lady. Very fresh 100% local Hawaiian vegetables, which was lovely. Fruit is waaay overpriced, just get it at the Farmer's Market or KTA Superstore. But this is a good last minute stop for fresh veggies.”

“The Kona WalMart & their famous wall of SPAM .. see photo !!Since World War ll, spam has remained an island staple. It's available everywhere. Even the McDonald's inside this Walmart, SPAM & rice is a featured meal.On the brighter side, the WalMart's in Hawaii have a huge assortment of quality Hula material for those talented enough to sew & craft. They also carry an entire department of Hawaiian based tourist items at prices far below the gift-shops. The 4 star rating is due to WalMart discontinuing their complimentary shuttle bus from the cruise ship dock to the store. This is a serious setback for crew members who need to stock up on personal items & can't afford taxi cab service. This store sits high in the hills above town & has the best unobstructed view of the Kona Coast & Pacific Ocean in all of this beautiful area's landscape.”

“They have a food stall inside the food court shared with the other nearby food places. We didn't try anything except the chicharrones. Crunchy outside, soft inside ?. Sauces offered look to be on the sweeter side, but they did have a chili vinegar (not hot) that helps cut through the pork belly fat. $9 for a half pound and they'll chop it up for you”

“Make sure you become a member by downloading the US Safeway app at least 1hr before shopping and verify your phone number and email. Then when shopping in-store, buy on sale items that say ‘member’s price’. You’ll enter your phone number (linked to app) after ringing everything through at the cash and will save tons on money! I saved over $100! Fantastic selection and great prices. Lots of beer and wine, ready-made meals and fresh produce too. Big grocery store. Everything you need and huge opp for savings!”

“We arrived on the island at around 8pm. By the time our luggage came in, it was almost 8:30pm. Most of the restaurants close at 9 or 10pm. We didn't want to rush while we eat since we had a long flight & really wanted to unwind. We headed to Safeway to see what they had to offer. We initially came in planning to buy stuff to make sandwiches. They have so many options for hot items & to go items. Unfortunately, the deli was closed. They had tamales, chicken, salad. Lots of options. We ended up with a roll of California sushi, a packet of raviolis, a bag of Cesar salad, macadamia cookies, and Hawaiian tea and called it a night. I ended up going back for macadamia white chocolate cookies and even brought some back to the main land. They were honestly really good! They are fully stocked with everything you can think of. It's funny to see tourists scrambling for food options included us late at night. Keep safe land in mind just in case it gets too late!”
