horrible, awful, unacceptably bad bank experience. i opened an account. it was not possible to do external transfers. i called and was told someone would reach out to me. that never happened. a few weeks later, i got the ATM card. the ATM card would not work, and multiple phone calls trying to reset the PIN was a huge waste of time. every phone call to the bank took over an hour, and i was never able to access the money i opened the account with.i set an appointment to close the account, because i don’t have time during business hours to stand for an hour in their teller line. i got here at my appointment time and was told i couldn’t be helped via appointment as was directed to stand in a line of 15 people in order to close the account.horrible experience and epic waste of my time. highly recommend not banking here, it’s outdated, slow, and their processes don’t work. not a good institution to trust money with.

I do not recommend this bank,sometimes I got overdraft fee for $60.00 it’s just stupid and scam.

If I didn’t have to do my elderly parents banking for them I would NEVER come here. Why is there always such a LONG wait to see a teller. Today, I stood in line for 35 minutes with only 5 people ahead of me! 4 tellers, 2 “in training,” 1 just sitting there with her window closed doing NOTHING, no joke! And the last one seeing customers and moving in slow motion. I would be more understanding if there wasn’t always such a long wait, but not a chance. Every time I go there it’s a long wait. Insane.

Everytime I come here they don't ask my I.D or anything One filipino lady ask me and she's so rude.. She don't have respects to the customers and keep repeating any question.She always assist on the bussiness teller..

I had ove 10000 in fraud and they refunded it then without contacting me or anything they took it back out then I had to prove ot was fraud again. Absolute worst bank in Hawaii!!!!! Do not bank here!!!

I sold a car at the beginning of the pandemic. Couldn’t justify having two cars after lockdown. I had the car paid off by the dealer but the payment was late. I forgot to keep making payments until the account was officially closed. My fault, but it was my first late payment. To this day, it is still my only late payment. It haunts my credit. Years of working as an essential worker through the lockdowns and now a newly minted teacher for the DOE and Im stuck with a bank that won’t let it go. I make it a point to let every student know to stay away from First Hawaiian Bank.

theres only main 2 tellers. why!!??always a long line because of this!there's 2 tellers in the business side but that doesn't help the situation at all, always a long line!!!i might have to change banks because it never gets better. uggghhhh!!!this is pathetic!!!!!

Every single time I come to the bank there is a ridiculously long line, only 2-3 people working at the counters. It's awful I hate this bank. I dread it any time I have to go into this bank. Wailuku FHB is much better but there's rarely any parking.

Rick Smith helped us close a giant, difficult, complex loan on our condo in Maui. Despite the hottest, busiest, craziest market ever, he closed our loan on time. Rick came through for us after agent after mortgage agent said they couldn't even help us. Rick is the man. If you're going to get a loan in Maui, talk to him.

I submitted loan application in early October 2020 and to this day have not been approved or denied for a loan. My loan has been transferred from one incompetent loan agent to another. My loan is now being held up because my loan officer handled my loan application improperly and did not submit accurate information to the underwriter. I am a super qualified applicant but at the end of my rope with unprofessional service, it is hard to believe that a bank of this stature could be so incompetent. I have asked for supervisors intervention to know avail. When I submit loan application/package file it is highly professional and accurate and done by my highly educated and experienced CFO with personal and business financials, we are very experienced at the lending process and are very expedient, efficient, attention to detail and accurate to the penny. I do not know what else to do other then post this bad review on yelp to gain assistance. I own my own well run mid sized company for 42 years with 700 employees and am an excellent financial standing both personal and business. Hedy Holmes
