I have purchased about 8 comfort colors tee shirts from this store and finally on our last trip to Kauai had enough. I love that brand of tee shirts and all the different styles the owner carries, but cannot deal with his attitude. I will never step foot in this place again. He is condescending, arrogant and just an overall unappreciative human being. Last trip, he literally grabbed a shirt out of my hand as I was looking at it. Every review here is so accurate!

Same experience as the others, old man worker judging staring at me while I’m looking for a sweatshirt for my mom. Finally he started shaking his head and asking if I didn’t know they were closing early. And I said no I didn’t and he proceeded to be rude and just stare at me. Totally rude customer service.

Unpleasant experience all around. Agree with the other reviews about the gentleman running the shop. I wanted to leave immediately. Not worth the hassle for some t-shirts.

Similar to another person who had posted, my sister and I were both interested in purchasing merchandise from this store but the older man employee was off putting and acted like he didn't want us to buy things. He stared at me and hovered like I would steal something after being in the store for 30 seconds. He also blocked my sisters boyfriend from taking a picture of a jacket for her because he thought she might like it, arms out and everything aggressively saying "no pictures!!". Lastly, he wouldn't let my sister hold a shirt up to herself to judge the size and snatched it from her arms to fold it again and put it back. Hovered over both of them as well. We've never seen such a rude and weird employee and it deterred us from buying anything at all, which was disappointing. I really hope the store owner does something about this employee.And if he happens to be the owner, he needs to take some notes and chill out. I see now why there wasn't anyone in the store during the 2 hours we were at Ching Young village.

Came into this store with friends and my significant other and we were met by the most cantankerous man. I wanted to buy something as their product looked nice. However, every time I touched something the man hover, mumble, and he made us feel like we couldn’t browse or search for sizes. It was bizarre. I asked this employee if he was the store owner and he replied he was not. I could tell as I’m sure the owner of the store would want purchases to be made, this employee did not seem to want a purchase to happen. I spent my money elsewhere because he was off putting and it was uncomfortable.

Asked to see a specific shirt to take a picture of it. Worker in the Hanalei store refused to show it to me (I had already purchased a hat).

I agree with the other reviews about the grumpy owner. I went there to shop for my three daughters. He made all of us feel uncomfortable. It's like he wanted us to just pay and leave. At some point he told my daughter: "you spent half an hour looking at them.." as to rush her. One of my girls (only 11yo) felt so uncomfortable that she decided to not shop there and wait for us outside. Even when I paid, he held my credit card and ordered me to sign first. When I asked to get my card back first (I like to place it back right after scanning so I won't forget it) he held it back and said sign first. It's like I'm gonna run away with my own credit card. There are couple of other shops that sell even better quality t-shirts in that shopping center. I wouldn't go back to this one.

This was a cool little place with interesting souvenirs and great t-shirts. The guy working the counter was great and didn't mind talking to tourists. Highly recommend this place if you're looking to pick up a keepsake from the area.

This is a wonderful store. I bought the most awesome tee-shirt and had to replace the one I had because I damaged it. Thankfully, I was able to replace. They have amazing items. High quality and unusual. They are located in Hanalei at Ching Young Village. A do not miss!!!

I just happen to see the reviews about Hot Rocket in Hanalei. I've been buying from this store for a for a few years, both in person and on the phone. He has one T-shirt that I always buy. It is not listed on his website, however there is a picture of it when you open the site. Both in person and on the phone, he has always been nice. He is not going to go crazy overly nice, that's not him. But if you want a good product at Hawaii prices, stop here. Don't take your open beverages or hot dogs inside. You may end up buying something that you don't care for. See you in May 2020.

This review is not for the items in the store. There was variety and the quality seemed decent (my family and I wanted to purchase several shirts and sweaters). This review is for how uncomfortable the older man with long hair running the cash register made my little sister feel. Unfortunately ,the visit to the store prompted a deep conversation about stereotyping and discrimination. He was all over my little sister and in her personal space .I confronted the older gentleman. he did apologize, but did not seem sincere . I definitely will be shopping elsewhere. Kauai is awesome though and the locals and other tourists are friendly !This was the only negative encounter We have had since arriving a week ago !
