This structure is still beautiful. I went for the Sunday night jazz event. It was really nice and I enjoyed it. The only issue was the ants.
Established in 1921 by Charles H. Douglass, Macon 1st Black Millionaire, the Douglass Theatre hosted early jazz and blues greats such as Otis Redding, Bessie Smith, James Brown, Ma Rainey and Little Richard while running popular feature length films and serials. Now completely renovated, the theatre continues to hosts a variety of events including film presentations, live performances and educational presentations created by youth.
