Please do not get a mortgage with this group. Don't be fooled by the name. They are not friendly to military anymore and have become the shadiest busines I have ever dealt with. You have been warned. Have had different3 mortgages with PenFed going back to 2015. Have never missed a payment or even been late on one. They cut off my ability to pay my mortgage and said the only way my access TO MY EXISTING MORTGAGE THAT IS 4 YEARS OLD WITH NO LATE PAYMENTS would be to let them run my credit with a "soft pull." I keep my accounts frozen so no one can run it without me knowing so they had to do that to get me to unlock it. My score is an 821. This is illegal and a lot like what Wells Fargo did and got penalized for it. Guessing they are trying to figure out which loans to keep and which to sell.

We have excellent credit 850 and they denied us a loan. With no real reason!!! We never miss a payment. Our house is paid off, property we own paid off, and we only owe 2 loans; one loan with only one small payment left to pay to USAA, and we wanted to use the new loan to pay off the second loan we still owe. I told my husband to check with the credit union first, I thought they might have lower interest rates on personal loans, then USAA. Oh boy, was I wrong. Incompetence at its best! We went back to USAA and got approved right away for the loan amount we ask. Should stay with the people we know when it comes to personal loans, and been serving us all these years. The credit Union lost a valuable customer for a big loan. They should really do a quality check.

This place is a real nightmare. 3 months, I am not joking, 3 MONTHs we are going back and forth trying to open an account for our non-profit organization. We apply, we wait for two weeks and hear "Your paperwork copy was black and white so it was denied" reapply, and in another two weeks hear "you forgot to check the box" and so on. Over and over and over again. Absolute COMPLETE incompetence of managers. They have no idea what they need to look for on applications, how to submit those applications in their own system, and how to track them. One star for smiling tellers.

The teller at Fort Gordon PX was extremely friendly. She did the quick application sheet for me so all I had to do was sign it. The employee that called me that afternoon to finalize my setup was also very friendly and professional. Both employees put me at ease and made me feel highly valued as a customer. This is a service that is becoming more and more scarce. I appreciate these ladies as they were instrumental in my decision to open a checking account.

Penfed's online payment system is very broken. It feels like they are new to banking and far behind. Customer service is also lacking. I am guessing they are having a high number of complaints. Go to Navy Federal or USAA before giving them your business. I would never trust them again.

I really dislike having to come here but it's the closest branch. To top it off it doesn't have a drive through so I have to stand which is hard for me and probably others as well. Never had this problem at the old Credit Union.

Well I guess as a result of Penfed representatives being ugly to me and wanting me to violate PII just to change a phone number I said I was gonna do everything in my power to get away from Penfed. Well I managed to get refinanced through my local credit union that doesn't require a retinal scan just to make sure it's me. Heck my monthly truck payment went down and my interest also dropped. I hope I NEVER have to deal with this credit union again.

Wrost decision I ever made was refinancing my car through PenFed they are garbage has been nothing but problems with them and oh no don’t call to talk to someone they all have attitude like it’s my fault your company is trash I’m going somewhere else

The people at the pen fed location inside of Fort Gordon are nice and professional however the constant change of hours at this location is unacceptable. The hours just recently changed again to Monday-Tuesday 9am-3pm, Wednesday they are closed, and Thursday and Friday still 9am-3pm, Saturday 9am-12noon and Sunday closed. My issue is that if you want to conduct business and you don’t work on this installation but still have access to the base you have limited options and are subjected to being stuck on Saturday’s in long lines just to handle basic affairs. This location claims the hours are temporary but my question is how many times can you continue to say this? What bank now closes before 5pm or 6pm basically forcing you to take time off work just to handle your affairs before you’re forced to wait for the weekend. If pen fed keeps up these unstable and unrealistic hours for the average worker I’m changing my accounts back to navy federal at least they have normal business hours. I understand it could be difficult to find workers but when I went to this location yesterday at 4pm a worker was still sitting at the desk visible from the office on his computer meanwhile they were closed down for business at 3pm.. I’m confused how you can have an employee still at work at 4pm closed down at 3pm and subjecting people to all kinds of inconveniences by at least not having one day a week where they stay open until 5pm. Please be careful with the hours of operation here they change way too much for this to be your only banking option!
